“No. It has nothing to do with him.” Veronica knew in herself that she’s not telling the truth.
It must be quite unbelievable and embarrassing to tell Chloe what happened to her.
For Veronica, this is a private matter that she needs to keep and she doesn’t want to tell others about her terrible experience.
The most important reason is that no one can help her. It is because Nick is like the king of power.
“Veronica Parker, you–”
“Stop it. I’m hanging up.” She hangs up the phone without waiting for Chloe to say anything.
With her phone aside, she sat on the foam board. Veronica leaned her back against the sofa, held her legs, and rested her chin on her lap, a posture and sign that she felt there was no sense of security around her.
She would huddle up when she was beaten by her father, and she would do the same when she was upset.
She ingrained in herself that it is right to avoid contact with Chloe. She has nothing to gain or lose, just as she did when she was a child. She has no father, no mother, and will remain the same in the future.

All six little ones climbed onto her body.

“You’re back?” Isabella was overjoyed to see Veronica Parker. “When did you get back?”

Veronica Parker said. “It’s settled for the time being. I don’t know in the future.”
She is under his control and Veronica is certain that she can’t leave the capital. She knew that Nick is hard and unfathomable to read. She can’t predict what will happen in the future.
Peter put his fleshy arms around Veronica’s neck and said. “Mom, have you finished your work?”
“Mom, we’re on TV. Did you see us?” Cathy asked with stars in her eyes.
“Mom, I’m on TV, too!” Julie said happily.
“Mom, me also. I’m on it, too!” Josh said in an aggrieved tone. He’s a little cutie next to Veronica Parker.
“Mom, me too! Me too!” Lily said hurriedly.
“Daniel is on TV!” Daniel said a little shy, and his little face was flushed.
Veronica Parker seems to know that he is quite happy to be broadcasted on TV.
As a mom, she is worried about death.
“Mom’s work is over, and I saw you on TV so I came back immediately. Do you miss Mom?” Veronica asked.

The six kids in the living room chased each other and played merrily. Peter shouted as he mimicked and shot with a gun. Cathy held a panda stuff toy and played with Lily. Julie and Josh ran happily with a kite in their hands, and Daniel drew a wire ball intently with a pen.
Veronica Parker looked at the six little ones through the kitchen counter. She was contented and happy.
Isabella said with a smile. “When I went to pick them up at the TV station, the program director of that company held me by the hand and wanted me to sign a contract with the children. Saying that this episode of ‘Finding Mom for Children’ was the highest ratings ever.”
“The ratings are so good?” Veronica Parker was surprised.
“Yes, but I’m sure you won’t want to, so I said no.”
