Chapter 1041

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-8-9

“There’s a formation here,” Sylvia raised an eyebrow. “This formation attracted these weasels. That’s why the parent leading the protest got unlucky. Didn’t he have a car accident recently? And then got bitten by a weasel?”
If she remembered correctly, that was the case.
Carley shrugged. “Isn’t that something? He’s really unlucky. I was wondering why my stepmother seemed to be in a better mood lately. So, it’s her doing, making our home a mess.”
“I’ll break this formation first, then deal with these weasels. Having weasels at home is not a good thing.” Sylvia started drawing talismans towards the group of weasels.
The weasels seemed to sense danger and began to get restless.
They kept making sharp and hoarse cries, sounding like trapped beasts.
But in the end, one by one, they all fell to the ground.
Sylvia told Carley, “It’s done. Get some servants to pack them up and release them into the woods outside the city. They shouldn’t come back. No need to harm them.”
Carley sighed in relief. “Great, why did they all faint?”
“A simple array to confuse animals,” Sylvia smiled. “Next is your stepmother’s issue…”
Mrs. Kaur was always causing trouble, if not today, then tomorrow.
“By the way, how’s that children’s English training class she started?” Sylvia suddenly remembered and asked.
Carley got annoyed at the mention of it.
“Don’t even mention it. My dad paid off her gambling debts but refused to cover the training class expenses. The parents are still protesting and planning to sue. If they lose, the court will enforce it, and her assets will definitely be auctioned or seized to pay off the debt. My dad said he won’t help her. If she loses, it’s her problem; if her assets are auctioned off, it’s her problem too. It doesn’t matter.”
“Does she have any separate assets?” Sylvia asked while setting up another formation.
“Of course! She has properties, cars, some stocks, and bonds. Selling any of them could pay the parents back, but she refuses to sell. She’s just stubborn.”
Carley’s tone was full of disdain.
“There will always be a day when the law catches up with her. Justice is never late, just a matter of time.” Sylvia stood up. “Alright, your home will be peaceful from now on. Just keep an eye on your stepmother and don’t let her cause trouble.”
“Miss Andrews, thank you.” Carley gratefully took out a large packet of cash. “This is for you.”
“Are you crazy? I don’t take money.” Sylvia thought it was just a small favor.
Carley insisted on pushing the packet of cash into Sylvia’s hands. “But you’ve helped us so many times… I really don’t know how to thank you.”
Seeing Carley’s insistence, Sylvia accepted it reluctantly. “Then I’ll donate it to the Keturah Philanthropic Foundation to help those in need.”
“Once it’s yours, you can do whatever you want with it.” Carley smiled brightly, showing two rows of white teeth.
She looked beautiful, and her smile made her even more so.
Radiant like the sun.
“Alright, I’m leaving now. I need to get home for dinner!” Sylvia dusted off her clothes.
“Don’t go, have dinner at my place tonight!” Carley got anxious when she heard Sylvia was leaving. “How was your trip back to H Rovirsa? Did you handle everything?”
She had seen what happened with Sylvia’s Longevity Pharmaceuticals and was a bit worried.
“There shouldn’t be any big problems.” Sylvia sensed her concern and smiled slightly. “I’m leaving now.”
She left the Kaur family and got into her BMW. Thinking about what Carley had mentioned earlier, she couldn’t help but call Logan.
“How are things going?”
“The culprit hasn’t been found yet, but… they’ve sent some experts who specialize in these strange phenomena. They’re called the Soul Group and seem to have abilities like yours,” Logan sounded troubled. “But they always speak mysteriously, which is very frustrating.”
“I see. Let them handle it; this will clear our name.” Sylvia didn’t expect there to be such a specialized organization. It seemed they had noticed the uniqueness of this case.
She didn’t need to worry anymore.
Although Longevity Pharmaceuticals had a murder case, clearing their name wouldn’t be easy.
After chatting with Logan for a bit, Sylvia hung up and drove towards the Hipps family.
Sylvia hadn’t been home for two or three days. Old Mrs. Hipps had arranged for the chef to prepare a table full of delicious dishes that Sylvia liked.
Maritza happened to come over to deliver some supplements to Old Mrs. Hipps and saw the table full of food. She couldn’t help but ask sourly, “Grandma, is there something special today?”
Old Mrs. Hipps glanced at her. “Nothing special, just that Sylvia is coming home for dinner tonight. Oh, why don’t you stay too? The more, the merrier.”
Hearing that Sylvia was coming home for dinner made Maritza uncomfortable.
They were the ones named Hipps after all, not Sylvia who was an outsider.
Why was she so favored?
Despite her discomfort, she didn’t dare show it.
But she didn’t want Sylvia to be too comfortable either, especially after the perfume incident that left her unable to work in the perfume industry and living on pocket money at home. She felt even worse.
She smiled and sat down at the table. “Why don’t I call Jaelynn and Annika over too? We sisters haven’t had dinner with Sylvia in a while.”
“Sure, there’s plenty of food prepared. Your little aunt is back too.” Old Mrs. Hipps didn’t reject Maritza’s suggestion. “Call those two girls over.”
Annika and Jaelynn soon arrived and were greeted by the aroma of food as they entered.
“Grandma, why so much delicious food?” Jaelynn smiled, holding a pot of cloud bamboo.
“To satisfy you girls’ cravings,” Old Mrs. Hipps smiled and noticed the cloud bamboo. “Oh, how well this cloud bamboo is grown!”
“That’s why I brought it for you!” Jaelynn handed the cloud bamboo to a servant. “If it wasn’t well-grown, I wouldn’t dare give it as a gift.”
“You always know how to please me.” Old Mrs. Hipps loved gardening but wasn’t good at it; her plants often died quickly under her care.
Maritza secretly scorned her as a sycophant.
Annika just smiled without saying much.
Making the old lady happy was a skill in itself.
When Sylvia arrived home, she saw the three Hipps sisters sitting neatly along with Old Mrs. Hipps, Old Mr. Hipps, Clare, and Mollie.
A whole group waiting just for her.
She washed her hands and took her seat beside Old Mrs. Hipps.
“Alright, now that Sylvia is back, let’s start eating,” Old Mrs. Hipps announced, and everyone picked up their forks.
Clare glanced at Sylvia. “What did Miss Kaur want?”
Sylvia didn’t want Annika and Jaelynn to know too much detail, so she said, “Just something small; she wants to go shopping tomorrow.”
“Yes, you should spend more time with friends; it won’t be so boring,” Old Mrs. Hipps approved of her spending time with Carley.
Sylvia served Old Mrs. Hipps some food and smiled slightly. “Got it, Grandma.”
Seeing Sylvia and Old Mrs. Hipps interact so warmly made Maritza jealous.
But after making such a big mistake before, she didn’t dare say anything and could only watch in silence, feeling miserable inside.
She regretted coming over to watch this display of familial affection.
It was self-torture.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Jaelynn and Annika didn’t say anything either; they just smiled at Sylvia and Old Mrs. Hipps but couldn’t help feeling a bit envious.
Everyone wanted to win Old Mrs. Hipps’ favor after all.
But doing so discreetly without being obvious was challenging.
Sigh! Sylvia seemed naturally favored by the old lady.
They couldn’t compare.
Meanwhile, at the presidential residence, Franklin was having dinner with the President.
He had no appetite and only took a few bites before wiping his mouth with a napkin.
The President looked at him displeasedly. “What? You don’t even want to have dinner with your father?”
This was just picking a fight out of nothing.
Franklin sighed silently. “Are you going through menopause?”
The President’s face darkened further. “Is that how you talk to your father? Where are your manners?”
Franklin raised an eyebrow. “Manners? I grew up without parents; sorry no one taught me.”
“You!” The President almost choked on Franklin’s words out of anger.
This brat was doing it on purpose; he had to be doing it on purpose.
He wouldn’t stop until he drove him mad.
One day he would die from this kid’s antics.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He slammed his hand on the table hard. “What do you want? You haven’t been home for days; is it so hard for you to come back once? And when you do come back, you give me attitude? What do you want?”
Franklin sneered. “Nothing.”
The dining room was filled with tension so thick you could cut it with a knife.
The servants kept their heads down, not daring to look at the father and son duo for fear of getting caught in the crossfire of the President’s wrath.
“Tomorrow you’re coming with me to an important meeting,” the President said as he threw his fork on the table and stormed off.
It was all because of that Sylvia; if it weren’t for that woman, his son would be obedient and filial.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. This Hipps family! They couldn’t be allowed to stay!
