Chris Shelby had no hesitation and left with Marie. When the police arrived at the patrol office, everyone was stunned. Thousands of people lay on the ground, groaning in pain. Detective Lightning of the police station was dumbfounded; he had never seen anything like this before. At that moment, a severely beaten Justin Smith was helped over.
“Are you Justin Smith?” Lightning was startled when he saw him. Justin Smith, as the head of the patrol office, was very famous on the East Coast and known for his arrogance. But today, he was beaten so badly that if Lightning had arrived a moment later, Justin might have been beaten to death.
Curious, Lightning asked, “Mr. Smith, how did you end up like this?” Justin Smith gritted his teeth and said, “Detective Lightning, you must avenge me!” Lightning nodded, “Mr. Smith, don’t worry. I will investigate this matter thoroughly.”
“Thank you, Detective Lightning. Once this is resolved, I will make sure you are well rewarded!” Justin Smith’s eyes gleamed with malice as he added, “When we catch the culprit, I want him to wish for death rather than life!”
After dropping Marie off at East Coast University, Chris Shelby immediately called Tiger. “Tiger, get me the detective from the police station!” After hanging up, Chris Shelby returned to his villa to wait. With his power, he could have killed Justin Smith on the spot. But he wanted to make an example out of him to deter others from oppressing ordinary people. To achieve this effect, he needed the East Coast police station’s involvement.
Just as Lightning was preparing to investigate the assault on Justin Smith, he received a call from Tiger. Lightning was immediately filled with dread; Tiger was a close confidant of the East Coast King and not someone a mere detective could afford to offend. Without any pleasantries, Tiger said directly, “Lightning, the East Coast King wants to see you. Come to Cloud Bay immediately!” Then Tiger hung up.
Lightning was shocked; he never expected that the high and mighty East Coast King would want to see him. Without hesitation, Lightning drove straight to Cloud Bay. After passing through several layers of security, he finally arrived at the legendary Cloud Bay-the most luxurious residence on the East Coast and home to its king.
“Detective Lightning of the East Coast Police Station greets the East Coast King!” Lightning said respectfully upon entering the villa.
Chris Shelby responded calmly, “Lightning, I called you here today to inform you that I just swept through the entire patrol office and severely beat its head, Justin Smith.”
“What!” Lightning looked up in disbelief at Chris Shelby. He couldn’t believe that it was Chris Shelby who had swept through the patrol office. He had promised Justin Smith that he would catch the culprit responsible for this chaos. Now knowing it was Chris Shelby made him realize there was no way he could arrest him.
Chris Shelby continued, “Justin Smith allowed his subordinates to beat vendors without reason, severely affecting the lives of East Coast residents. I order you to investigate Justin Smith immediately.”
“If he’s involved in any other criminal activities, you must crack down on him severely; we cannot allow such scum to tarnish our East Coast’s image. Do you understand?”
“Yes!” Lightning nodded; he knew Justin Smith was finished! Offending the East Coast King was a death wish.
Chris Shelby waved his hand dismissively, “You may leave now.”
“Yes!” Lightning didn’t dare linger and left immediately.
After giving instructions to Lightning, Chris Shelby lost interest in the matter. To him, Justin Smith was just a minor figure. With Lightning handling it, it should be enough. If not, he would remove Lightning from his position as detective.
Upon returning, Lightning immediately began investigating Justin Smith. His investigation revealed that Justin owned a private villa in an upscale neighborhood on the East Coast-where only the wealthy resided and where each villa cost at least millions of dollars. As a mere head of a patrol office, how could Justin afford such an expensive property? Clearly, there were issues with him!
Lightning shouted, “Men!”
Instantly, hundreds of policemen rushed in.
Standing up and scanning his surroundings coldly, Lightning ordered, “Gather everyone; tonight we head to Garden District to arrest Justin Smith!”
“Yes!” With that command, thousands of policemen boarded hundreds of police cars and sped away.
For safety reasons, Lightning called Chris Shelby. “East Coast King, I have gathered evidence of Justin Smith’s crimes and am leading my men to arrest him in Garden District! Would you like to join us?”
After a brief silence on the other end of the line, Chris Shelby replied, “Alright, I’ll come with you.”
Chris Shelby wanted to see who gave Justin Smith such courage to act so recklessly under his watch.
At that moment in Garden District:
“Dad! Who dared beat you like this? I will avenge you!” Jazz exclaimed angrily upon seeing his father’s condition.
Justin Smith lay wrapped in bandages like a mummy. He seethed with hatred at Chris Shelby for beating him so badly.
Waving his hand dismissively at Jazz’s outburst, Justin said calmly: “You don’t need to worry about this; I’ve handed it over to Detective Lightning.”
“Master! The police have surrounded our villa!” The butler rushed in anxiously.
“What?” Both father and son were shocked.
Jazz asked confusedly: “Dad! What’s going on? Didn’t you ask Lightning to catch your attacker? Why has he surrounded our villa?”
“Hmph!” Justin snorted coldly: “This sudden move by Lightning is definitely not good news. Let’s go see what’s happening!”
With that said; accompanied by Jazz and hundreds of bodyguards; they walked out.
As head of patrol office; knowing well how many enemies he’d made; Justin had hired nearly a thousand bodyguards for protection.
Soon after stepping outside; they saw large numbers of policemen surrounding their villa-with Detective Lightning standing at front!
