Sylvia silently observed the subtle interactions between the two men but said nothing. She simply sat down and began to eat.
After sleeping for so long, she was indeed hungry.
As soon as she sat down, she heard Isaac’s voice again. The man smiled and said, “Mr. Maskelyne, don’t overthink it. I just gave Sylvia a dress as a brother.”
Franklin, irritated by Isaac’s constant chatter, couldn’t hold back his frustration. “Then please give me one too, so Sylvia and I can wear matching outfits.”
Isaac was slightly annoyed by this remark but maintained his composure. He smiled and said, “Sylvia and I have known each other for a long time. Old Mr. Thompson even wanted to set us up back then!”
He raised his eyebrows and continued, “But Sylvia and I are too familiar with each other to be together. I’m just her brother. So, Mr. Maskelyne, you don’t need to worry.”
Franklin thought Isaac was being hypocritical.
“Considering Mr. Carr has a wife and child, if you weren’t married with children, I might suspect you have a secret crush on Sylvia!” Franklin emphasized the words “wife” and “child.”
Isaac glanced at Franklin with disdain. That woman wasn’t worthy of being his wife. He hadn’t married her at all.
But in front of Sylvia, he said nothing.
At that moment, Sylvia’s phone rang. It was Old Mrs. Hipps calling.
She immediately answered, “Grandma.”
As she spoke, she got up and walked outside.
As soon as she left, Isaac’s expression turned dark. “Don’t think that being with Sylvia means you’re safe. I can take her back anytime.”
“It’s only because of my negligence that you had an opportunity. From now on, I won’t give you any chances.”
Hearing this, Franklin chuckled. “What about your wife and child? Will you get rid of them? A ruthless man like you could definitely do that.”
Isaac’s eyes flashed with sarcasm. “Franklin, listen carefully. Eudora has never been my woman-never was, isn’t now, and never will be. As for that child, it’s just Eudora’s.”
The two men glared at each other, exchanging sharp retorts, neither willing to back down.
After finishing her call, Sylvia looked at the closed door of the private room with a headache.
The strange atmosphere between the two men made her lose interest in eating.
She glanced out the corridor window at the setting sun and the beautiful red sunset before returning to the private room.
Back inside, the previous tension seemed to have dissipated, and the two men appeared to be getting along.
After they finished eating, it was almost dark.
As soon as Sylvia stepped out of the private room, she heard Franklin’s voice beside her. “Honey, look outside.”
She instinctively looked out the window and was stunned!
Outside the restaurant, in the office district where many large companies were located, 35 buildings spanning 2. 5 kilometers lit up simultaneously as she turned her head.
She was confused. What was going on?
“Boom!”
A firework suddenly exploded in the sky!
Soon after, several fireworks shot up almost simultaneously, lighting up the night sky with brilliant colors.
Sylvia stood in the restaurant corridor, watching the dazzling fireworks.
She was even more bewildered as she heard the excited chatter of the restaurant staff around her. “Wow, such beautiful fireworks.”
“So romantic!”
“This fireworks display is like a dream come true.”
Various fireworks continued to light up the sky like a celestial display.
Finally, the fireworks formed a string of letters: “S, I love you!”
“Who’s S?”
“So envious.”
“This is so romantic.”
Sylvia’s heart skipped a beat as she felt Franklin’s breath close to her ear. He whispered warmly, “Sylvia, I love you.”
When Sylvia turned around, she met his deep, narrow eyes.
In his eyes, she saw her own reflection.
She noticed he was holding a remote control.
So, he had pressed this remote control just as she stepped out of the private room?
The splendid fireworks would eventually fade away, but Isaac’s heart was far from calm after witnessing this display of affection.
He looked out at the brilliant fireworks with a dark expression and watched as Franklin gently embraced Sylvia’s slender figure.
His eyes burned with anger as he wished he could throw Franklin out of the window.
At that moment, Franklin handed Sylvia a small telescope. “Look at the sky.”
Sylvia took the telescope suspiciously and looked through it at the sky.
She was stunned and shocked!
If the light show and fireworks were just appetizers, then these eighteen stars were truly astonishing.
Through the telescope, she saw eighteen stars arranged in an S shape.
How did he find these eighteen stars?
And how did they form an S?
“Each star has its own name. I discovered they could form an S by chance and decided to buy them,” Franklin said gently and lovingly. “From now on, they are your stars.”
He had truly taken stars from the sky for her.
Sylvia felt a warm surge in her heart.
She looked at Franklin’s flawless face with gratitude. “Thank you.”
She liked it very much.
“For you, anything,” Franklin said as he hugged her tightly again.
Their bodies and hearts were closely connected.
As the fireworks ended, Franklin held her hand and walked toward the elevator.
Isaac followed with a sullen expression, finding Franklin extremely annoying.
In the parking lot, Sylvia bid farewell to Isaac. “Isaac, see you tomorrow.”
Franklin also smiled. “Mr. Carr, goodbye.”
Isaac gave Franklin a deep look and smiled gently at Sylvia. “See you tomorrow, Sylvia.”
With that, he got into his black car.
Franklin also got into his car with Sylvia. “Can you not go tomorrow?”
Sylvia was momentarily stunned but then smiled. “What? Are you jealous?”
“I…” Franklin felt a bit stifled but then turned serious. “Isaac is ruthless; it’s better if you stay away from him.”
He feared Isaac might pull some tricks in front of Sylvia and didn’t like them having too much contact.
“Old Mr. Thompson taught me a lot,” Sylvia said as she gently held his hand and lightly scratched his palm with her fingers, causing Franklin to tense up.
He quickly tightened his grip on her hand. “Stop it.”
Sylvia couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m not teasing you. I’m talking about Old Mr. Thompson! He’s an archaeologist with high expertise in antique jewelry appraisal. He can tell real from fake at a glance. I used to assist him for a while. Isaac is his student. Don’t worry; there’s nothing romantic between me and Isaac.”
Franklin: “…”
You may be straightforward, but Isaac isn’t.
He’s always watching closely.
Franklin thought to himself that it was only because Sylvia was so outstanding and beautiful that these suitors were trying to win her over.
“Old Mr. Thompson treated me very well back then. Now that he’s ill, it’s only right for me to visit him,” Sylvia explained softly. “I’ll go tomorrow and come back soon; I won’t stay long.”
Franklin wanted to say he’d go too but held back.
Otherwise, he’d seem petty and…
Forget it!
The next morning, it was drizzling lightly.
After spending a passionate night with Franklin, Sylvia woke up slowly in the early morning.
Two consecutive days of indulgence had left her exhausted!
But she endured it.
Franklin was already up and tying his tie when Sylvia walked over to help him with it.
“Are you going out?”
The man leaned down and kissed her on the corner of her lips. “I’m going back to the presidential residence; that old man needs me.”
After tracking him for two days, they finally couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Okay,” Sylvia said without asking further questions as she deftly tied his tie.
She was about to turn around to freshen up when Franklin suddenly stepped forward and pressed her against the wardrobe.
Her back was tightly against the wardrobe door as he leaned in closer, trapping her between the wardrobe and himself.
His warm breath brushed against her long lashes as she offered him her lips willingly; their passionate kiss filled the room like wildfire.
When the kiss ended, Sylvia was breathless.
She playfully pushed Franklin away. “Let me go! I need to freshen up.”
If she didn’t hurry, she’d be late for her nine o’clock appointment with Isaac.
Franklin chuckled softly and gently cupped her face before kissing her on the nose. “Alright, I’ll let you go.”
With that, he released her.
Sylvia finally freed herself and dragged her tired body to the bathroom.
Watching her graceful figure leave, Franklin’s Adam’s apple bobbed sensually as he said, “Honey, I’m heading out now. Call me if you need anything.”
“Okay,” Sylvia replied through a mouthful of toothpaste as she heard the door close behind him.
That man didn’t mind if she hadn’t freshened up yet!
