Chapter 215:
The Power of Togetherness
Megan’s POV
The room was abuzz with the space as Megan paced back and forth, thoughts elbowing for space in consideration of what to finish up in the project. Chris and Jordan were standing over a series of thesis and notes pinned out on the board, their conversation open but intense.
“Almost there,” Megan muttered, looking at her watch. It was quite a tight deadline, but the energy in the room felt like a combination of excitement and pressure.
Chris looked up from the sketches. “Megan, would you come take a look at this? I’m trying to figure out how best to integrate this new element into the narrative.”
Megan joined them, looking over the sketches. “Eh, what’s t’back?”
Chris pointed to one. “I’m thinking of maybe changing one little thing here. The scene where Jordan’s character starts to make up with their past-is there just something about that you feel is a little dull?”
Megan nodded. “It’s on that point. For the emotional transition, we bring in another palette. This way, it just hints at a different tone.”
Jordan raised his eyes from his notes. His eyes widened with realization. “Wow, that’s a great idea. What colors?”
Megan brought a finger to her chin in contemplation. “Maybe a gradient from muted blues to warms, to symbolize a change from conflict to resolution.”
Chris smiled. “Great. It’s subtle, yet it clinches. Let’s fit it in and see how it plays in the whole narrative.”
As they worked on that, the studio door opened, and in came Alex, Chris’ old mentor. Alex had been the man chiefly responsible for Chris’s early career. Clearly renowned for a critical insight into details.
“Hey everyone,” Alex said, with his eyes scanning the room. “I heard you guys are in the final stretch. Mind if I take a look at what you’re working on?”
Megan and Jordan gave each other a look, Megan nodding. “Of course, Alex. We’d appreciate any critiques.”
Alex took a step closer to the table, examining the sketches with a finicky eye. “You’ve all done really good work in your parts here. The integration of colour and story is really working well, but I have to ask: how do you guys feel the last scenes are going to hit emotionally?
Chris and Megan shared a look before Chris spoke up. “Our target is a strong emotional resolution. We want the reader to feel weaved into well-set closure and growth.”
Alex nodded. “On the right track with that. But remember, sometimes less is more. Make sure the subtlety in your color transitions doesn’t take over the narrative. The emotional resonance ought to come from the story itself, not just the visuals.”
Jordan nodded. “We’ve taken care to dovetail the two together at the joint. A little technical, but we’re positive it’s going to come together into an awesome whole for the story.”
An approving nod from Alex. “Can feel it already. Just keep tweaking and trust your instincts. You lot are a great team, here.”
As Alex left, Megan felt a strong sense of purpose again. She looked to Chris and Jordan, who were already hard at work.
“Thanks a lot for having Alex come by,” Megan smiled, “His input is always so great.”
Chris nodded, saying, “Definitely, good to get that sort of perspective, more so when we’re standing at the gates of the finish line.”
Jordan now stretched and then heaved a sigh as he looked at Megan and Chris, “You know, it’s been an experience working on this project together. I’ve learned so much from both of you.”
Megan broke into a wide smile. “Same here. It’s just been great. Of course we have our problems, but we come out tougher as a team.”
“Definitely. Our teamwork has gotten us to this level, and I am proud of it.”
They continued their work with a new sense of togetherness in the room. This was more than a creative piece of work: it stood for their collaboration and development.
It was that night, finally finishing the whole thing, that Megan looked around the studio with a big sense of having done something. It was a room to be proud of, a short but telling testament to their work and creativity.
Chris was holding the last of the sketches, then turned toward Megan and Jordan. “I think we’re just about finished. So, how do you feel, guys?
Jordan grinned. “Very excited and relieved. It’s been a pretty hard process, but I’d say I’m really proud of what we’ve come up with.”
Megan nodded. “Me too. I can’t express the extent to which it has been a pleasure working with all of you. I have learned quite a lot from it and enjoyed every minute.”
Chris’s smile was now obvious as he looked between his two collaborators. “I couldn’t have asked for a better team. We pushed each other, supported each other-all to create something really great.
Megan was so grateful inside that her heart ached. “To the bonding and the wonderful synergy that has made our joint efforts epic.”
Jordan clinked a virtual glass. “To our teamwork and the things we are going to do together. Cheers to us!”
