Russell took the necklace, his heart filled with joy.
“Grandfather, can you fulfill the condition you promised me now?” Charlotte asked.
“Charlotte, the Pittman family doesn’t have that much money right now. When we have the funds, we’ll naturally transfer the money to you. Don’t worry,” Russell replied dismissively, as if everything was under his control.
“Grandfather, what do you mean by this? Are you planning to go back on your word in front of everyone?” Charlotte suppressed her anger.
“How could I be that kind of person? I agreed to the condition, but I never said I would give it to you immediately. When did I say that? Everyone here can testify, right?” Russell’s words were filled with disdain and contempt. Seeing his hypocritical smile made Charlotte feel disgusted.
“Exactly, we’re not refusing to give it to you. Why are you in such a hurry? Not giving it is our right; giving it is a favor!” Georgia chimed in from the side.
“Come here, Georgia. Let me put this on you,” Russell said as he placed the necklace around Georgia’s neck.
“Thank you, Grandfather! You’re the best!” Georgia hugged Russell joyfully.
“As long as our Georgia is happy, it’s what Grandfather should do,” Russell said affectionately, as if they shared a deep bond.
“You all!” Charlotte was so angry she couldn’t speak.
“Grandfather, you promised Charlotte. If you go back on your word, it won’t look good. After all, Charlotte is your granddaughter,” Nash interjected, offering Charlotte a glimmer of warmth.
“Nash, I will fulfill my promise to Charlotte in the future. There’s no rush,” Russell said evasively. “Trust me to keep my word.”
Seeing Russell’s attitude, Nash didn’t press further. Instead, he saw an opportunity to win favor with Charlotte while the Pittman family made things difficult for her.
“Alright, Charlotte, the help you requested has been resolved. You can go home now. Someone, see her out,” Russell waved his hand, and a few security guards arrived shortly after.
“No need for your trouble; I can leave on my own!” Charlotte stormed out, her heart completely cold towards the Pittman family. She knew they would never give her the money for the necklace.
“Hmph, trying to fight me? You’re still too naive!” Russell thought to himself.
“Nash, why don’t you stay for a meal?” Russell pretended to invite Nash warmly, knowing Nash was still valuable to the Pittman family.
“Sorry, Grandfather. I need to check on Charlotte now. I’ll definitely spend time with you another day,” Nash politely declined.
“Alright then. Please take care of our Charlotte. You’re truly a good man! Go on now!”
Russell thought that marrying Charlotte to Nash would be beneficial for the Pittman family.
“Thank you, Grandfather!” Nash said goodbye and left to find Charlotte.
Charlotte had already left, her eyes red and swollen with grievance. From today on, she no longer had any feelings for the Pittman family.
Soon after, Nash caught up with her.
“Charlotte, are you okay?” Seeing her distressed state, Nash pretended to be concerned and placed his hand on her shoulder.
“Nash, I’m fine. Thank you for helping me earlier,” Charlotte forced a smile despite her pain.
“Charlotte, we’re family. Who else would I help if not you?”
Nash’s words touched Charlotte’s heart slightly. She wished Quentin were here instead.
Sighing softly, Charlotte said, “Nash, please take me home.”
“It’s no trouble at all. I’ll find a way to help you with this matter. Don’t worry too much,” Nash assured her confidently.
“Thank you, Nash. But even if it can’t be resolved, it’s okay. The Pittman family never intended to fulfill my condition.”
“I’ll find a way to get the money back myself,” Charlotte said with resignation in her voice.
“Alright, I’ll take you home now.” Charlotte nodded, and they got into the car and headed towards her rented apartment.
Seeing Charlotte’s increased affection for him, Nash felt more confident and disdainful. “Quentin, you’re a loser. How can you compete with me? One day, I’ll make sure Charlotte watches as I crush you under my feet!”
