Leo sneered, and the chain attacks became even fiercer.
Then he and Samuel swiftly moved through another tunnel entrance, quickly disappearing.
“Damn it, I won’t let you go, even as a ghost!” The Taoist screamed in despair as the swirling black mist finally enveloped him.
A sharp scream echoed, attracting the patrolling disciples on the fourth floor, but soon various screams spread.
Hearing the distant screams, Samuel glanced at Leo and said, “Leo, even demonic cultivators disdain using artifacts like the Necromantic Sword. Heaven’s Origin Sect disciples secretly refining it deserve no mercy.”
On the other side.
Bang!
Sitting high above, an emaciated old Taoist with eagle eyes and a hooked nose suddenly waved his hand. A black handprint shot out, striking a trembling Heaven’s Origin Sect disciple kneeling below.
The disciple didn’t even have time to beg for mercy before being torn apart and consumed by a domineering black flame, leaving no trace.
“Summon the left and right protectors. Find the intruders in the tunnels and kill them on sight!” the eagle-eyed sage said coldly.
“Yes, Sect Master!”
Beyond the fourth floor was the fifth floor.
“So, the fifth floor is an underground space!” Samuel exclaimed.
A vast underground space opened up before them, brightly lit by a nearby magma river.
The red-hot magma flowed continuously, dividing the underground space in half. The intense heat emanating from the magma river dispelled any chill in the air.
Samuel couldn’t help but say, “Heaven’s Origin Sect doesn’t have the capability to create such an underground space, do they?”
Leo replied, “This is naturally formed, not man-made.”
Samuel asked, “Should we keep going?”
“Of course, let’s go.”
“There are two ends to this underground space. Which way should we go?”
Leo looked at the magma river flowing from left to right and pondered. “The magma flows from left to right. The left side is the source, and the right side is unknown. Which side do you think is worth exploring?”
Samuel thought for a moment and then his eyes lit up. “I understand.”
“What do you understand?”
Samuel’s eyes burned with excitement. “As far as I know, earth dragon chi can take many forms. It can be underground mineral veins, rivers, or even an unnamed gas.”
“So this magma might be the earth dragon chi under Yellow Dragon Mountain.”
Leo was stunned. “You’re saying this magma is earth dragon chi? Did we find it just like that? That’s too easy.”
Samuel shook his head. “It’s not that simple. Look, the magma flows from left to right. The source of the magma is deep underground fire essence, which cultivators can’t obtain.”
“But the magma flowing out over thousands of years forms local earth veins. After countless transformations, it can become earth dragon chi.”
“So, earth dragon chi is on the right. If we go right, we’ll find it.”
“In that case, let’s go.”
Just as they were about to move, a sudden change occurred.
Bang!
A figure fell from above, blocking their path.
Leo and Samuel looked over to see a Heaven’s Origin Sect disciple lying on the ground.
The disciple’s clothes were tattered, and his limbs twisted oddly, looking nothing like a living person.
But this disciple slowly got up and turned to face Leo and Samuel.
Seeing this, Leo and Samuel took a few steps back in fear.
The disciple’s face was blackened, his eyes blood-red, his skin festering, and he made strange “huh huh” sounds from his open mouth.
“Samuel, what is that?”
Samuel smiled bitterly. “How should I know? But it looks like a zombie.”
“How did a Heaven’s Origin Sect disciple turn into a zombie?”
“It’s the Necromantic Sword!” Samuel realized. “We need to go!”
Soon, more twisted bodies fell like dumplings, quickly gathering twenty or thirty zombies.
These zombies surrounded one wearing a Taoist robe-the Taoist who had refined the Necromantic Sword.
The Taoist pointed in the direction Leo and Samuel had fled and let out a sinister growl.
After running for a few minutes, Leo and Samuel stopped.
Bubbles rose and burst in the magma, leaving wisps of red smoke.
The red smoke gathered above the magma, forming a constantly churning red cloud.
Though thin, the red smoke had a mysterious quality that was hard to grasp.
“Samuel, is that earth dragon chi?”
“It looks like it, but there’s too little of it to cause an earth dragon upheaval.”
“This is where the magma flows out. If this magma river is the local earth vein, then this river is the earth dragon. It doesn’t look extraordinary.”
“I can’t see through it. Look around; there are surveillance cameras.”
Leo looked around and saw many modern surveillance devices placed around the magma river.
With a cold smile, Leo waved his hand, sending out four golden beams.
Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!
The surveillance devices shattered one by one.
“Leo, finding earth dragon chi isn’t urgent. If it doesn’t take shape, no one can find it. Our priority now is to find another way out.”
“What way out?”
“Heaven’s Origin Sect dug tunnels to seize earth dragon chi. They wouldn’t leave just one exit. I believe there are other escape routes here.”
“We need to find them so we can escape if necessary.”
“Samuel, you’re indeed meticulous.”
Samuel smiled. “As our ancestors’ military strategy says: ‘Prepare for defeat before seeking victory.’ I use this principle in business too, which is why I’ve accumulated enough wealth for several lifetimes.”
As they searched for an exit, the zombies arrived along with Heaven’s Origin Sect members.
“Catch them!” shouted one of Heaven’s Origin Sect protectors.
“Damn it! We’re surrounded,” Samuel exclaimed.
Leo smiled. “Not necessarily. Samuel, don’t move.”
“What?”
Before Samuel could react, Leo wrapped a chain around his waist.
Then, to Samuel’s astonishment, Leo leaped into the air with him.
