Chapter 160
Freedom Regained.
Megan’s POV:
I gazed around the entire courtroom as I stood in the witness stand, ready to tell the world of everything I was put through.
I took a glance at detective James, then are the judge as my eyes raced through the Chris face and settled on Jane’s.
I could see Jane nod quietly, as she gave me the go ahead to say everything.
Before, I could open my mouth to say anything, I saw the visitors sitting by the corner of the court, with smiles on their faces, which interpreted victory.
Immediately, a surge of calmness ran through my body and a smile formed at the side of my lips slowly.
It felt like the world was out to watch me, to see if the celebrity boxer will be free of the shackles of her crime or be sentenced to jail.
“On a lonely day, I was arrested and brought into this caught and accused of killing miss Kayla!” I say and take a glance at her.
“Days turned into months and here we are.” I continue.
“What changed everything was when I was taken to the hospital after my food was poisoned severally with a harmful serum time without number just so I get unstable and never get out of prison.
“On this day, I noticed that anytime this doctor comes into my ward, it always ends up with me going back to hallucinating!” I said as the entire court marveled.
“Doctor Lee!” I say pointing at get as she disguised thinking no one will see her in the court.
“There was this serum that she would always inject, so when it gets in contact to my system it gets bad.” I said.
“But I told myself that I would not let her do that to me anymore, when I took this syringe from my veins and noticed that that was the purpose of the poison!” I said.
“That was not all since the entire process was masterminded by Kayla, who is the master of the syndicate!” I said as I saw how mad she had her secrets were all out in the opened.
She looked at me like she was going to eat me up and I looked Stern.
Even the visitors have a lot to say about this whole thing.
The visitors were in the witness box to testify too, and they have a lot to say than I even expected.
“Kayla has always been the mastermind behind the syndicate group and has destroyed a lot of lives alongside Hailey for a very long time!” One of them days.
“Megan might not know this but, the sole reason why they brainwashed her father into being a syndicate member, was to get at Megan!” They say as I wondered.
“Kayla created the syndicate slowly and she recruited a lot of people… but her sole aim was to only get back at Megan who was obviously better than her.” They revealed as I saw how Kayla looked unfazed.
They went on and on and they entire court saw Kayla for who she truly is.
“Court! Order!” The judge yelled as the entire court was panicking.
“All the evidence and testimonies we have heard here points us to only one thing… that Kayla is the syndicate real boss.” The judge says.
Kayla was taken to the witness stand to hear what the court had to say about her.
I watched Kayla stand before the judge, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
She had finally gotten what was coming to her. The smug look on her face, the confident stride she had always carried herself with I thought it was all gone but it was still there.
Hoped to be replaced by a look of shock, of defeat.
But then judge’s words cut deep, and I could see the realization dawning on Kayla’s face.
She had thought she was above the law, that she could manipulate and use people to get what she wanted.
But now, she was facing the consequences of her actions.
“Kayla, your actions have shown a blatant disregard for the law and the trust placed in you,” the judge said, his voice firm.
“You were well known, and some people regarded you as a role model, but here are you now!” The judge tells her.
“You have let your ambition and greed consume you, and now you must face the consequences.” He said.
I felt a surge of relief wash over me as the judge’s words validated my own experiences with Kayla.
She had tried to sabotage me and use me for her own gain. But now, the truth was out. She was being held accountable.
The judge’s sentence was stern, and Kayla’s face fell as she realized the gravity of her situation. I didn’t feel sorry for her, though. She had made her bed, and now she had to lie in it.
Infact, this was what she deserved alongside her minions.
As I left the courtroom, I felt a sense of closure.
Kayla’s reign of manipulation was finally over, and I was free from her grasp. I could move on with my life, knowing that justice had been served.
I thought back to all the times Kayla had tried to take me down.
All the times she had used me for her own gain. But now, the tables had turned. She was the one who is being sabotage, who had been brought down by her own actions.
I walked out of the courtroom with my head held high, feeling a sense of vindication.
I had been right to stand up to Kayla, to refuse to be intimidated by her. And now, she was facing the consequences of her actions.
I knew that this was just the beginning. Kayla’s downfall would have far reached consequences, and I was glad to be free of her toxic influence.
I could finally start to rebuild my life; to move on from the pain and hurt she had caused me.
As I stood outside the courtroom, basking in the glow of vindication, I gazed out into the distance.
My eyes scanned the horizon, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling city. And then, I saw him. Chris. Walking towards me with a stride that exuded freedom and happiness.
My heart skipped a beat as our eyes met. Chris’s face was beaming with a radiant smile, and I couldn’t help but mirror his expression. We had been through so much together.
As he approached me, I could see the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders.
He was free from Kayla’s grasp, just like me. We had both been manipulated and used by her, after he tried to save me.
“Hey,” Chris said, his voice filled with warmth, as he reached my side.
“I saw the whole thing go down. Kayla got what was coming to her.” He says.
I nodded in agreement, still grinning from ear to ear. “She did. And we’re finally free.”
Chris’s eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled.
My heart swelled with emotion as Chris took my hand in his. We stood there for a moment, basking in the glow of our newfound freedom.
