Chapter 1382: Unwelcome

Hannah’s arrival instantly drew the attention of all the foxes in the hall.
Almost all the foxes stopped what they were doing and looked at Hannah, saying in unison, “Princess Hannah.”
This title was interesting; the foxes only addressed Hannah by her identity without adding any words of greeting or showing any respect, clearly more polite than friendly.
Hannah maintained a smile on her face, nodded slightly, and walked directly towards the red fox.
As she approached, the red fox, blue fox, and gray fox simultaneously transformed into human forms.
The red fox transformed into a middle-aged beautiful woman wearing a long red dress.
The blue fox and gray fox both transformed into elderly men of similar age, one dressed in a blue robe and the other in a gray robe.
Quentin displayed a seemingly kind smile. “Hannah, long time no see. You’ve almost grown into a young lady. Come, let me take a good look at you.”
Hannah’s smile stiffened for a moment, cursing inwardly: Old fool, pretending to be nice!
Despite her inner curses, Hannah knew that times had changed and she had to bow when necessary. She replied to Quentin, “Hello, Grandpa Quentin.”
Quentin was satisfied with this response and stroked his beard.
“Now that everyone is here, let’s officially start the banquet,” Elder Grey said, looking at the middle-aged woman in red.
The middle-aged woman nodded and was about to speak when Quentin suddenly called out, “Wait!”
Quentin’s loud voice instantly drew everyone’s attention. They all looked at him curiously, wondering what he was going to do.
“Elder Quentin, what’s the matter?” The woman in red frowned.
Since entering the banquet hall, it seemed that all the foxes had treated Leo as if he were invisible. But now, Quentin’s gaze locked onto Leo with intense hostility.
Leo met Quentin’s gaze calmly.
To Quentin, this expression was one of disdain and provocation, something he could not tolerate.
“Great Elder, Elder Grey, this is our Spirit Fox Clan’s banquet to welcome Princess Hannah back. However, there is a human here, which goes against our clan’s rules,” Quentin said harshly, targeting Leo directly.
The gray-robed elder wore a half-smile and tried to mediate. “Elder Quentin, Hannah said this human is her friend.”
Quentin looked at Hannah. “Princess Hannah, there is an old saying: ‘Those who are not of our kin are sure to have different hearts.’ This is the sacred land of the Fox Clan. You know the rules of the Spirit Fox Clan; without rules, nothing can be accomplished…”
The more Quentin spoke, the worse Hannah’s expression became.
Leo sneered inwardly. The old man seemed to be targeting him but was actually aiming at Hannah. The meal hadn’t even started, and he was already giving her a lesson. Let’s see how Hannah handles this.
“Grandpa Quentin is right. My friend here is named Leo. He is not an ordinary person but a Cultivator. More importantly, he is my protector now. According to Spirit Fox Clan’s rules, protectors are exceptions,” Hannah argued, biting her lip.
“That’s just sophistry!” Quentin’s tone grew severe.
Hannah was furious, clenching her small fists tightly. She swore silently that once she inherited the White Fox Tribe’s legacy, Quentin would be the first she dealt with.
“Princess Hannah, if you need a protector, I can arrange for our clan’s disciples to protect you. When has the noble Spirit Fox Clan ever needed a human Cultivator for protection!?”
Quentin’s sharp gaze once again focused on Leo, issuing a direct order to leave. “Young man, this is not a place you should be. Please leave Greenmount!”
Leo did not appear angry; he seemed rather agreeable.
“Elder Quentin, if you want me to leave, that’s not a problem.”
Leo’s words shocked Hannah, making her widen her eyes in disbelief.
Big brother, don’t back down now! I’ve even given you the Divine Moon Bead; you can’t go back on your word!
Hannah screamed inwardly. If Leo left, her plan would be ruined.
Quentin’s anger turned into smugness. Humans were indeed cowardly and fearful.
He couldn’t understand why humans ruled this world when the noble Spirit Fox Clan should be its rulers.
“Leaving has one condition: we need to settle accounts first,” Leo added unexpectedly.
Quentin was taken aback and then angrily asked, “What do you mean? What accounts?”
Leo pulled up a chair and sat down leisurely. “Hannah is your Spirit Fox Clan princess. If she has a problem, will you help her?”
“Of course,” Quentin replied with a bad feeling.
“That’s good,” Leo nodded. “So if Hannah owes me something, shouldn’t you help her repay it?”
All the foxes couldn’t help but focus their gaze on Hannah again.
The little girl showed excellent acting skills, immediately displaying an embarrassed expression and nervously clutching her skirt.
The gray-robed elder knew this Cultivator was not easy to deal with. He stepped forward and said, “How much does Princess Hannah owe you? We’ll pay it back for her.”
“Money?” Leo scoffed. “It’s not about money.”
“Then what is it?” Quentin felt he was being played with.
“It’s Spirit Medicine, thousand-year Spirit Medicine.”
Hearing the term Spirit Medicine made all the foxes’ jaws drop.
In this era, even places with slightly abundant spiritual energy were rare.
For the Spirit Fox Clan, Spirit Medicine was extremely precious because it could not only enhance cultivation but also awaken intelligence. Without awakened intelligence, spirit foxes were no different from ordinary foxes.
After recovering from their shock, Quentin quickly thought that Hannah must have made some deal with this guy involving Spirit Medicine.
“Tell me then, what kind of Spirit Medicine did Princess Hannah promise you?” Quentin asked with a sneer and a hint of mockery.
“It’s not particularly rare Spirit Medicine-just a five-hundred-year-old spirit herb and a thousand-year-old maguey flower.”
The foxes were stunned again.
Both Quentin and the gray-robed elder were dumbfounded.
Quentin roared angrily, “Boy, stop talking nonsense! How could Princess Hannah give you spirit herb and maguey flower?”
“I don’t care whether it’s possible or not; she promised me. Ask her if you don’t believe me.”
