“Cayden!” Max exclaimed as he opened the bedroom door. The baby who was almost asleep, suddenly gasped and turned to his father.
“Why did you shout like that?” Gabriella asked while exhaling. “I almost managed to put him to sleep.”
Feeling guilty, the man smiled a little. “Sorry. I can’t wait to show him this. Tada!”
As soon as he saw a box of ice cream in his father’s hands, Little Prince immediately struggled, trying to get up from his mother’s arms.
“Look! Now, he won’t sleep. Why don’t you do it later, Max? After all, this isn’t the time for Cayden to enjoy ice cream.”
“It’s okay, Gaby. He has just experienced a terrifying incident. There’s nothing wrong with pampering Cayden today,” Max said as he sat on the edge of the bed.
Without waiting for orders, the baby crawled onto his father’s lap.
When Max pressed the Little Prince’s hand to the lid of the box, a burst of cheerful laughter rang out. Cayden looked enthusiastic with a chill under his palm. As the father opened the box, the baby clapped happily.
“Look at this, Little Prince. Daddy ordered a special ice cream for you. It’s vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, green tea and milk flavours. Which one would you like to try?”
Without further ado, Cayden dipped his forefinger into the chocolate-flavored ice cream and popped it in his mouth. A second later, his body shivered and his smile widened.
“Looks like our Little Prince has his own favorite,” Gabriella muttered as she grabbed a sheet of tissue and wiped her son’s mouth.
“We can’t decide it yet,” Max said, dipping the baby’s index finger into the green ice cream. “Try this, Cayden. You’ll love it.”
However, as soon as the baby put the finger in his mouth, his brows furrowed. He wittily shook his head to express his displeasure.
Witnessing her son’s cuteness, the woman automatically laughed. “Cayden hates your favorite flavor, Max,” Gabriella said, stroking the baby’s head.
“Do you forget? My favorite flavor is you. In other words, Cayden and I have the same taste,” Max said with pursed lips.
“Alright, alright. Now it’s time for Cayden to stop. You’ve eaten too much, Little Prince,” Gabriella said as she pushed the box away from her son. Half of the chocolate ice cream had moved into the little palm and mouth as well.
A second later, the woman went to the wardrobe.
“Next time, don’t give Cayden food on the bed, Max. He has to learn about cleanliness. Have pity on the maids if they wash the sheets too often,” he muttered as he gathered a set of baby clothes.
Watching the Little Prince still enjoying the ice cream in his hands, a crooked smile was secretly painted on the man’s face. Without warning, he approached his wife and hugged her from behind.
“But we eat in bed a lot too, Gaby,” the man whispered in a low tone, “and that’s the best place to devour you.”
Knowing where her husband’s touch was going, Gabriella suddenly avoided. “Not now, Max. Aren’t you embarrassed to be seen by Cayden?”
“Just a moment,” the man coaxed as he followed his wife to put the clothes on the edge of the bed.
Again, Max’s hands rubbed the warmth that was more difficult to touch lately. “Let the Little Prince have his leftover ice cream, and I enjoy you.”
After a flash of deliberation, Gabriella sighed in disbelief. “Just a moment? One minute?”
Wasting no time, Max pulled his wife into the bathroom. “We don’t have much time,” he whispered with a small smile.
When he stepped on the bathroom floor, the man immediately started the action. He was like a lion that had not eaten for days.
“Slow down, Max,” Gabriella whispered as the man closed his eyes, sipping her warmth.
in a moment, Max didn’t answer at all. The time was indeed limited. He had to finish before Cayden’s hands were clean of the ice cream.
After a while, Gabriella patted her husband’s shoulder. “Okay, one minute is up. I have to clean Cayden and change his clothes.”
“What about me?” the man whispered as he was not really willing to let go of his wife’s warmth.
“You don’t need to change, Max,” Gabriella said, lifting the corner of her mouth.
After patting her husband on the cheek, the woman rushed out of the bathroom. “Max is really something,” she thought while heading back toward Cayden.
Unfortunately, as her eyes looked at the bed, Gabriella’s steps stopped. There was only melted chocolate ice cream in her view. With eyebrows raised to the maximum, the woman looked around, looking for the whereabouts of the baby who was no longer there.
“Cayden?” Gabriella called in a muffled voice. Worry had choked her neck.
Wasting no time, the woman checked the other side of the bed. Unfortunately, she only found two teddy bears on the safety mattress. In an instant, Gabriella’s heart started pounding against her chest.
“Cayden!” she called at a high volume. With vision blurred by tears, the woman circled around the room.
“What’s wrong, Gaby?” the man asked as he’s walking over.
“Cayden’s gone again, Max,” Gabriella sighed as she gripped her husband’s shirt. “He’s gone again.”
Knowing that his wife was still traumatized by the kidnapping, Max puts his arms around her shoulders.
“Relax, Gaby. Do not panic. There’s no way Cayden would just disappear. He was still here a minute ago.”
“It was the same as that morning, Max. The stroller was in front of Lena, but it suddenly disappeared,” Gabriella exclaimed in a hoarse voice. Her whole body was shaking with anxiety.
With furrowed brows, the man began to inspect the room. Under the table, behind the piano, behind the couch. Little Prince wasn’t really anywhere.
“What if someone sneaked in here and kidnapped him?” the woman sighed with eyes shaking violently.
Without waiting for an answer from her husband, Gabriella burst out of the room. While shouting the name of the Little Prince, she looked in all directions. Everyone who heard her panic immediately gathered at the end of the stairs.
“What is it, Madam?”
“Cayden’s gone,” Gabriella said in a weak voice.
“Young Master is missing again?” Minnie sighed in disbelief.
With a deep frown, the woman gulped. “We left him on the bed for a while. When I came back, he wasn’t there.”
“Have you searched the room carefully, Madam? There is no way Young Master could open the door on his own.”
“I already did it, but Cayden’s still nowhere to be found,” Gabriella whimpered before shedding more tears.
Receiving the odd information, Minnie glanced at Max.
“Immediately spread throughout the room. Cayden must be in this house,” the man ordered firmly.
Without wasting any time, all the servants carried out the orders. Meanwhile, Max again grabbed his wife’s shoulder.
“We’d better check the surveillance cameras. If a kidnapper really came in here, he or she would have been caught on the camera.”
After one nod, the couple rushed to the guard post. But unfortunately, several times they checked, no one else was seen descending the stairs before Gabriella.
“Could it be … Cayden is still upstairs? In your workroom? We haven’t checked it out yet,” the woman sighed with quivering eyes.
Without waiting for a response from her husband, Gabriella ran towards the place she just mentioned.
After a faint sigh, Max followed his wife. He remembered that he had left the door open. It was the only room that Cayden was allowed to visit. The last hope.
Unfortunately, when the couple entered the workroom, their hope was dashed. Under the long table or behind the desk, the Little Prince was nowhere to be seen.
