98. The Stressed CEO

Mia had knocked on the door several times, but the CEO didn’t answer. With faintly furrowed brows, the girl increased her voice. “Mister Julian?”
Unfortunately, five seconds passed, the atmosphere behind the door was still silent.
“What is he doing in there?” the girl grumbled before picking up her vibrating cell phone. A message just appeared on her screen.
“How about it, Mia? How did Julian respond?”
The secretary sighed reading Gabriella’s question. After thinking fast, she put the phone in the pocket and stuck the access card to the sensor. In just an instant, the door could be opened.
Seeing a girl trespassing, Julian didn’t make a sound at all. He remained sitting in the CEO’s chair with a flat and a dreamy look.
“Sorry, Mister. I had to open the door because you didn’t respond,” Mia explained as she was standing near the door.
Once again, the secretary was greeted by the CEO’s silence. Not wanting to waste time, she finally stepped forward. “I was asked by Mr. Max to deliver these documents.”
Hearing the name of the person he had been avoiding for days, Julian spontaneously raised an eyebrow. “Max? What documents?”
Mia puts a pile of folders and several flash drives in front of the CEO. “All the documents that have been kept secret by Mr. Max. He didn’t need it anymore. Therefore, he left everything to you.”
“Why?” Julian sighed with a confused look on his forehead.
“Because she wants to start a new life without any burdens, Sir,” Mia answered according to what Gabriella had written.
With brows furrowed in disbelief, the man checked the topmost document. The complete design of the hybrid building immediately greeted. A sigh was spontaneously blowing harder from his mouth.
“Impossible. Why does he give this up? Isn’t he supposed to use this document to take me down? To reclaim his position?” Julian asked with quivering lips.
“Mister Max doesn’t want to deal with Quebracha anymore. He also said that he’s tired of all the trouble that was happening here. Because of it, Mr. Max chose to leave this city with his wife.”
In an instant, Julian flinched. His stiff tongue had trouble pronouncing words.
“N-no way. Max is not someone who gives up easily. He must be fighting for his rights,” the pale man with reddened eyes denied.
“What rights, Sir?” the secretary asked innocently.
“To be the CEO of this company. He’s the one who should be sitting here. Not me!” Julian exclaimed without the slightest hesitation.
Hearing the man in front of her start to raise the voice, Mia spontaneously stepped back. She remembered that the new CEO was notorious for his bad temper when getting emotional, and also that she left the taser in her bag.
“My job is only to deliver the document, Sir. Since they are in your hands, excuse me.”
Unexpectedly, Julian stepped up and grabbed Mia’s arm. The girl who didn’t have time to dodge stared wide-eyed at the guilt-ridden eyes.
“You must be lying, right? There’s no way my little brother just gave up,” the CEO snapped in a low, gripping tone.
“I didn’t say Mr. Max gave up,” Mia shook her head with hands clenched in front of her chest. “He want to enjoy life with his wife. That’s why, they left all the fuss here.”
“Impossible!”
A second later, the secretary was pushed back. Unfortunately, the girl’s legs were blocked by the long sofa. As a result, Mia landed on the soft chair. Before she could get up, Julian was already on the top, clutching her chin.
“Tell me you’re lying. Tell me!”
With eyes shaking violently, Mia gulped. “No, Sir. That’s the reality. They are happy in their new place. What are you really concerned about? Don’t you want your brother to be happy?”
Suddenly, the CEO’s breathing grew louder. The man’s gritted teeth made the secretary regret what she just said.
“How dare you accuse me like that! I never expected my brother to suffer. He himself is too stupid and subservient to his father.”
Mia tried to struggle, but the body above her was too heavy. “Sorry, Mister. I’m not accusing. I know you love Mr. Max very much. There’s no way you want to see him crumble.”
“Then why did you ask the question that doubted me earlier?”
The girl was unable to answer. Her chin could break if Julian kept gripping with increasing force.
“Do you know? I’ve always treated him well, and have also succumbed to many things. I even managed to get out of town, handing over the company and Amber to him. Is that still lacking?”
After a few breaths, the man’s red eyes began to water. His grip loosened. In a voice that no longer boomed, he said, “I never wanted his life to suffer. No.”
Unexpectedly, a drop of regret fell and slid down his cheek. While sobbing, the man grabbed the girl’s shoulder.
“I’m not a bad person, Mia. But, why do things keep making me look like a jerk?”
Before the secretary could answer, Julian had placed his head on her shoulder. Shamelessly, the man shed sorrow and roared. He was on the verge of sanity.
“Sir?” Mia sighed as she didn’t know what to do. The girl just stayed still with eyes darting around, looking for ideas, until suddenly, two people came into the room and gasped.
“Julian!” Amber yelled with tightly clenched fists. Without stalling for time, she walked quickly and separated her future husband from the secretary. “Are you crazy?”
With tears still rolling down his cheeks, Julian looked at the woman.
“Why did you come here? Isn’t our relationship over?” the man asked in a desperate tone. His breath was still gasping for emotion.
“Well, it turns out, our new CEO is involved in a love triangle scandal? It’s really interesting,” Sebastian said as he sat down on the sofa. His smile widened at the commotion in front of him.
Realizing the existence of the traitor, Julian’s index finger immediately pointed. “What are you doing here? Do you also want to destroy me? Like how did you destroy Max?”
With an eyebrow raised lightly, Sebastian shook his head. “Why should I drop you? I was the one who helped you climb up to that chair.”
“Nonsense! You must want to snatch the CEO seat!” the man accused as he no longer used logic. His mind had been dulled by the erosion of anger.
“Absolutely not. I have my own company, remember? My father’s company is no less big than Quebracha. All I want is to see Max can’t brag anymore. That’s all,” he said casually before shrugging shoulders.
Hearing that confession, Julian unexpectedly let out a laugh. “You’re the real criminal,” he muttered like a madman.
“Yes. You are right. And I’m so happy because my victim has fallen and fallen. Unlike Amber. She might be a little sorry because his love still failed to unite,” the man quipped, making the lady look at him sarcastically.
“We have agreed not to bring up that matter again, Bas,” Amber said before checking Julian’s expression.
“Do you think you’ve won?”
All eyes suddenly fell on the girl with clenched fists and jaw clenched. They did not expect that a servant’s daughter dared to say in such a high tone.
“If you think you’ve won, you’re wrong. It’s Mr. Max and his wife who won. They are now living happily and peacefully, while you are still caught up in this kind of commotion.”
In just an instant, Sebastian got up from the sofa. “Are you bragging about your loyalty to Max?” the man asked in a displeased tone.
“Loyalty need not be shown, Sir, but proved.” Keeping her chin high, Mia stepped out of the room. She didn’t care about her racing heart. Her annoyance at those people had peaked.
Witnessing the secretary’s courage, Sebastian’s breath suddenly roared. Without thinking, he stepped forward, about to teach the girl a lesson.
