“Are you mad at me?” Gabriella asked when it was only her husband and herself in the room.
“Why should I be angry? I know you did it because you love me,” Max said, looking warmly at the woman sitting on the side of the bed.
“But you don’t seem to believe me,” Gabriella said with pursed lips.
Seeing that adorable look, the man automatically smiled. “Why do you think like that about Julian?”
Gabriella’s eyes started to spin around, looking for the first sentence to explain. “Do you know that in your father’s house there is my mother’s piano and trophies?”
Max spontaneously raised an eyebrow and blinked flatly. “Is it true? I haven’t been there in a long time.”
Gabriella answered with a nod. “Do you think it’s possible that Julian wasn’t suspicious when he saw them?”
“Thinking of that sly old man’s demeanor, he could have lied to Julian by making up excuses.”
Knowing that her analysis was not accepted, the woman’s breath came quickly.
“You have great faith in your brother, Max,” she murmured with furrowed brows. “But, how about the presentation that dragged us down on the day of the engagement?”
“That’s what Amber did. The Stupid Julian just followed the cunning woman’s request.”
Again, the woman’s lips pursed. “All right then,” she murmured with drooping shoulders, no longer supported by enthusiasm.
“What do you actually suspect, Gaby?” Max asked, stroking the back of the woman’s hand with his thumb.
“Who knows. I have a feeling there’s something wrong with Julian.”
Unexpectedly, a chuckle escaped Max’s mouth. “You’re using your feelings too much, Gaby,” he teased.
“But, look at the evidence. My guess about Sebastian is right,” said the woman confidently. “Anyway, do you want to teach those bad guys a lesson? I already have lots of ideas for them.”
The man’s laughter suddenly grew louder. “Do you plan to paint their fingernails with a marker?” he joked, raising an eyebrow.
“If necessary, I’ll collect a bucket of ink then pour it over their heads.”
Max immediately shook his head at Gabriella’s excited voice. As soon as his laughter died down, he took a quick breath and put on a wise look. “Don’t be like that, Gaby. Revenge doesn’t suit you.”
“But, I can’t let them get away with it. How about a little trap?” Gabriella asked, suggesting an idea.
“Like spicy coffee and salt water?”
Nodding, the woman rolled her eyes playfully. “Something like them. May I?”
Max was silent for a moment. “Do you want to set a trap for everyone of them?”
“Yes. I’ve asked Rose for help, and she’s agreed. If you want, I can exclude Julian from the target list.”
Suddenly, the expression on the man’s face turned flat. Taking a deep breath, he said softly, “Gaby, can you get Herbert off the list? After all, he once raised me as his son.”
In just an instant, Gabriella’s cheerfulness faded. She had detected sadness in her husband’s eyes.
“How are you feeling right now, Max?” she asked in a low voice.
“I’m fine.”
“You can’t lie to me. I noticed your expression when Auntie recounted her conversation with Mr. Herbert.”
Instead of denying it, Max took his wife’s hand and kissed it. “You’re the one who understands my feelings the best, Gaby.”
The woman spontaneously chuckled. “And only you have a thousand ways to avoid my questions.”
“So, do you want to help me?” the man asked suddenly changing the subject.
“Help doing what?”
The corner of Max’s lips lifted higher. “Lock the door.”
Gabriella’s eyes suddenly widened. “Why?”
“Just do it.”
With a confused face, the woman carried out her husband’s orders. As soon as she sat back on the chair, the man suddenly groaned.
“Aaargh, my neck hurts,” Max sighed as he shook his head.
Quick as lightning, Gabriella stood up and checked. “Why? Do I need to press the emergency button?”
Unexpectedly, the man put his arm around the woman and stole the softness of her lips. For a few seconds, he treated the longing.
“You tricked me,” Gabriella sighed as her husband freed her lips.
“I am not lying. My neck really hurts from seeing you on that chair for so long,” Max said with pursed lips.
“Then, where should I sit? I can’t hang from the ceiling.”
The man’s smile widened for a moment. “Sit on my lap,” he whispered, making Gabriella laugh.
“Are you kidding me? You just had an accident, Max,” the woman said with blushing cheeks.
“Only my head hurts. My lower body is fine. If you don’t believe me, just ask Snowy. He’s the eye witness to the incident.”
While pondering, Gabriella bit her lip. After a few seconds, the woman tilted her head. “But the sun hasn’t even gone down.”
“That’s why I asked you to lock the door,” the man said with a pitiful look.
“Do you really want it?”
Max nodded with pursed lips. “I’ll get better faster if you want to do that.”
After sighing in disbelief, Gabriella finally complied with her husband’s request. Carefully, she placed her weight on the man’s lap. In just an instant, Max’s hands were already guerrilla under his wife’s clothes.
“Did you feel homesick during your disappearance?” Max asked while pampering the woman above him.
“Every second, Max. I can’t forget Snowy at all.”
The man’s brows furrowed. “Snowy? Not me?”
Without hesitation, Gabriella nodded. “I’m a little sorry for not taking it with me.”
Max’s expression suddenly turned sour. “How about me?”
“I only think of you in my spare time.”
Suddenly, Gabriella gave a short shriek. The husband had just attacked his weak spot which was getting wet.
“Are you upset that I don’t miss you all the time?” the woman protested with flushed cheeks. Breath had begun to blow through her mouth.
“Of course I am. My longing is one-sided.”
Once again, the woman let out a shrill voice. Not wanting to lose, she began to sneak around, looking for her husband’s weak point.
“Are you going to strike back?” Max asked teasingly.
“Yes. Now, I will not remain silent if anyone disturbs my composure.”
Hearing Gabriella’s determination, the corners of the man’s lips lifted even higher. “In that case, I’m curious to what you will do if I launch this.”
With just one move, Gabriella had furrowed her brows and bit her lip. Her heartbeat had gone crazy because of the man’s finger playing.
Not wanting to lose, the woman finally raised her seat and landed where she was supposed to be. In an instant, Max also took air through his mouth.
“I told you, I won’t stay still,” the woman sighed before starting the attack. The sturdy bed also sounded to the rhythm.
“I never knew that you’re a vengeful person, Gaby,” Max teased as he removed the cloth covering the woman’s beauty.
Realizing that her husband wanted a spectacle, Gabriella immediately pulled the shirt over her head. The man’s smile instantly grew wider.
“Why do men like watching football so much?” the woman sighed as she watched the happiness on Max’s face multiply.
“Because the bounce is so beautiful,” Max said, trying to touch the tip.
“So, are you feeling better now?” Gabriella asked before biting her lip and picking up speed.
Max suddenly closed his eyes and replied, “A little more. Don’t stop,” he pleaded, furrowing his brows.
With all her might, the woman did her best. She realized that she had a big mistake that must be made up for by her husband. Making Max levitate was just one of many ways, one of the easiest as it didn’t require a plan.
The closer Max got to the top, the more his room filled with sighs. Sweat was dripping down Gabriella’s forehead. However, she did not stop before the husband managed to fly.
“Do I do it right?” the woman asked as she was worried about failure.
“Yes,” Max said before gripping his wife’s hips. His breath was already very short.
After a while, the man finally breathed a sigh of relief. The wife, who was panting, immediately supported her weight with both hands. She was worried if she put too much pressure on her husband.
“Are you okay?” Gabriella sighed, making sure that their actions were harmless.
Without thinking, Max nodded and smiled widely. “Yes, I am doing okay.”
However, a second later, something flowed from the man’s nose. The woman who had been smiling, was suddenly wide-eyed.
“Max, your nose! It’s bleeding!”
The man spontaneously widened his eyes and wiped the liquid on his thin mustache. As soon as he saw what stained his palm, he said, “That’s right. It’s blood.”
