Max’s words were getting closer to reality. Once they arrived at the destination, Gabriella’s mouth was wide open, just like her eyes which stunned at the surrounding scenery.
“Why do you bring me here?” the woman sighed, while tracing the colors of flowers on her left and right.
“Didn’t I tell you? We have to collect evidence of our intimacy,” Max replied, smiling at his wife’s bright face.
“I haven’t seen a place like this in a long time. In the past, Mama often took me to visit the flower garden. If only Mama could see this, she would be very happy.”
The curve of the man’s lips instantly painted more beautifully. “So, are you happy?”
Gabriella looked at her husband without the slightest hint of falsehood. “Yes,” she nodded.
“Then,” Max spread his arms, ready to greet his wife, “don’t you want to hug me?”
The woman’s sparkling eyes spontaneously curled into laughter. “I admit that I like this surprise. But, you haven’t managed to make me run to you.”
“Is that so?” The man raised an eyebrow and lowered his hand. A second later, he began to step back. “Then let’s test it.”
On the fifth leg swing, Max stopped. With a mysterious smile, he looked at his wife who rolled her eyes.
“Why do you suddenly walk away? Are you setting up a trap for me?” Gabriella accused while looking around to check her surroundings.
“No. Now, pose. I’ll take your picture,” the man said as he took something out of his pocket.
Instead of obeying, Gabriella just froze with an incomprehensible blink. “Why do you take my picture alone? Shouldn’t we take photos together if we want to prove it to people?”
“Just do as I tell you,” Max said casually.
Inevitably, Gabriella put on a smile. However, as soon as she saw the cellphone in the man’s hand, her expression suddenly changed. Her eyes were open to the max under the raised eyebrows.
“Isn’t that my cell phone?”
The man didn’t answer. He continued to take pictures of the woman who was transfixed with quivering eyeballs.
“Max! Isn’t that my phone?” Gabriella shouted, asking for confirmation.
The man finally lowered his hand. “Don’t you like recording your memories on this phone?”
An incredulous sigh suddenly escaped from Gabriella’s mouth. Without wasting any time, she ran to her husband.
Max didn’t fight back when his wife snatched the phone from his grasp. He even smiled when the woman saw the photos.
“So you still have it?” Gabriella asked with teary eyes. “I think you already threw it away. I searched several times but couldn’t find it.”
“That’s because you didn’t look in my pocket.”
The woman’s eyes widened again. “You always carry my cell phone? Why?”
“This is the entertainment when I’m bored. Now that I have seen it all, I return it to you.”
Gabriella blinked instantly. “Are you serious?”
Max nodded carelessly. “Of course.”
In an instant, Gabriella stretched her arms around her husband. With eyes closed, she expressed happiness. “Thank you, Max. Now I know that you’re not as bad as I thought.”
A warm feeling immediately wrapped the man’s heart. With a gentle motion, he patted the back that was shaking with emotion.
“So, have you corrected your assessment of me?” Max whispered before meeting Gabriella’s eyes under his chin.
“Yes,” Gabriella said without hesitation, “a little.”
Max laughed without warning. “Then, do you admit that I have made you come to me?”
“You cheat. You can’t use something to lure the owner,” the woman said as she let go of the hug.
However, before Gabriella could step back, Max had already embraced her. A second later, the man pressed his lips to his wife’s ear.
“A paparazzi is aiming at us,” he whispered, causing Gabriella to suddenly tense up.
“Is it true? Then what should we do?”
“We can make use of him,” Max replied, casting confusion in his wife’s mind.
A second later, the man lifted the sharp chin in front of him and kissed gently. In just an instant, the woman was wide-eyed and frozen. Her lungs no longer functioned, while her hands gripped tightly on whatever was in her grasp. Only when the man deepened the kiss, did Gabriella close her eyes and welcome the warmth.
At first, the woman felt awkward. However, over time, she got carried away. In the midst of the flower bed, the couple was getting more and more engrossed in familiarizing themselves. Even, after the paparazzi finished getting some exclusive pictures, the two of them were still in love.
After a while, Max and Gabriella finally looked down while catching their breath. They both realized how fast their hearts were beating. However, no one wanted to admit it.
“Are the paparazzi gone?” the woman sighed since she still struggled to catch the air.
Max glanced at the trees then nodded expressionlessly. “Yes.”
Gabriella stepped back from her husband. While rubbing the back of her neck, she blinked rapidly. “Is that what you came here for? To get the attention of news reporters?”
The corners of Max’s lips tightened. “Yes.”
The woman immediately responded to the man’s lie with a small nod. “You’re really smart,” she said in a very low voice.
A second later, Gabriella walked over to the bench, giving the awkwardness a chance to subside. Max followed with slow big steps.
While the woman was checking her cell phone, the man was trying to find a topic of conversation. However, all that crossed his mind was Gabriella’s lips. The desire in him wanted more. As a result, the man moved restlessly.
“I want to record the beauty of this garden with my cellphone,” the woman said, successfully jolting Max’s consciousness.
“Yes?”
Gabriella shook the phone in her hand. “Haven’t you watched my videos? You understand what I mean.”
“Oh, yes …. Just do it. I’ll wait here,” Max stammered. Patting his thighs, he forced a smile.
As soon as Gabriella left, the man immediately slapped his forehead, summoning common sense to come back to the surface.
“Why do I act like this? Tsk, what a shame,” the CEO grumbled as he watched Gabriella from the corner of his eyes. In just a few seconds, his heart was racing again.
“I really am insane.”
Without wasting any time, he got up, taking his eyes off Gabriella.
“It won’t be funny if I grab her and do it among the flowers,” Max grumbled as he walked down the path.
After several steps, the man’s eyes were attracted by the ice cream truck that was crowded with visitors. An idea suddenly flashed through his mind.
“Doesn’t Gabriella like vanilla ice cream?”
After checking the memory, the man joined the queue with a big smile. Max Evans was finally willing to stand for a long time to get his wife’s favorite food.
A few minutes later, Gabriella had finished recording a message for her past mother. She circled, shooting the cellphone camera in various directions.
“Wow, everything is beautiful.” The woman could not decide what to shoot. Her lips curved beautifully every time she was greeted by the colorful flowers.
However, as soon as she faced the bench Max was supposed to be sitting on, the smile disappeared.
“Where is he?”
With a surprised look, Gabriella walked over to the bench and glanced around to check the surroundings. However, the husband remained invisible.
“Didn’t he say he would be waiting for me here?”
Unknowingly, disappointment began to weigh on the corners of the woman’s lips. With furrowed brows, she sat and waited.
“Why does he leave me?” Gabriella thought as she looked down at the phone which suddenly looked gloomy. “Is there something urgent he has to take care of?”
After a few moments, the woman let out a resigned breath. “He never gave his contact. How can I call him?”
Suddenly, an unknown number appeared on the screen. Gabriella’s eyes widened. Without thinking, she received a call. “Max?”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the husband who said hello. “How are you, Gaby?”
The woman’s heart skipped a beat. A chill had enveloped her. “Who are you?”
“I? The person who helped you came to Max Evans. Do you forget?”
Gabriella swallowed hard. “What do you mean? Don’t make it up. I don’t even know you.”
“Are you sure you don’t know me? Come on, Gaby. We’ve met face to face several times.”
The woman’s eyes were shaking violently. Her brain worked hard to check the memory that never gave an answer.
“Where did we meet?” she asked spontaneously.
The caller let out a long sigh. “So, you don’t remember. Tsk, you disappointed me, Gaby.”
“Stop being so friendly with me. I don’t know you at all.” The woman’s fear had turned into anger. She was getting sick of being played by a coward who didn’t dare to show his true voice.
“So, how does it feel to be the servant of that haughty CEO? Is it fun?”
Gabriella’s annoyance grew faster. “I’m not a servant!”
Suddenly, the sound of laughter snickered from the other side of the phone. “You think I don’t know? You serve him everywhere, Gaby. On his bed, in his car, even in the CEO’s room. Should I mention a more specific location? On the table?”
The woman’s breath immediately began to roar, while cold sweat began to flow. She didn’t know what to answer. Should she argue or ask how the mastermind knew? There is no right choice for her.
