Max rubbed Gabriella’s pale cheek. In a sudden, his heart rippled with an indescribable feeling.
“This girl must really hate me. Can I face a wife who holds a grudge against me?”
The CEO’s hand shifted to gripping the fingers that were threatened before.
“I’m so lucky that Sharp Knife still has a heart and common sense,” he sighed, looking down. “Thanks to him, I still have hope.”
Gently, Max pulled Gabriella into his arms. Without hesitation, he closed his eyes while stroking the girl’s hair until his hand stopped moving.
For the first time, Max Evans fell asleep with such a gloomy feeling and a woman in his hug.
The next day, the CEO opened his eyes and found that he had not moved at all during the night.
After confirming that the girl in his arms was still asleep, he loosened his embrace and adjusted Gabriella’s reclining position.
“I hope today is a good day for us,” Max whispered before getting out of bed.
With a lighter feeling, the man entered the bathroom and turned on the shower. He didn’t know that a woman had just opened the bedroom door violently.
As soon as the uninvited guest saw Gabriella, her blood rushed up and darkened the eyes. The spare key that was in her grasp was immediately thrown in any direction.
“Who are you?” the furious lady shrieked at the top of the voice.
A servant who was standing behind her grimaced. “Sorry, Miss Amber. You are not allowed to enter this room.”
Ignoring the servant’s warning, the young lady walked over to the girl who was just blinking.
“How dare you sleep on this bed?”
Amber grabbed Gabriella’s hair mercilessly and dragged her out of bed. The girl spontaneously held the hand with long nails, and grimaced in pain on her scalp.
“Engh …. Let go! What did I do wrong?” the girl who had regained her senses groaned.
“You, filthy evil! No one can seduce my future husband!”
Amber kept dragging the poor girl out of the room.
“I didn’t seduce him!” Gabriella shouted before she closed her eyes and began to cry. The jolt of the cruel woman’s hand was felt to the center of her nerves.
“Don’t you ever come to this house again!” Amber exclaimed as she led the girl to the ground floor.
The lady didn’t care if Gabriella could roll down the stairs. She would be happy if the girl was rewarded for her impudence.
Aware of the danger, the butler dared to block the young lady’s steps.
“Please have mercy on this girl! She’s totally innocent, Miss,” the frail woman explained with clasping hands in front of her chest. Her pleas sounded sincere as her eyes occasionally turned pity on Gabriella.
“Don’t get in my way! This girl doesn’t deserve to be defended. She was presumptuous about taking my position.”
“But, Miss-”
Amber pushed the butler’s shoulder harshly. The middle-aged woman was forced to step aside and watch Gabriella rise and fall.
Until they reached the stairs, she could no longer remain silent. Ignoring the young lady’s snide eyes, she helped Gabriella down the stairs.
“Get out of your way, Auntie! This girl doesn’t need help.” Amber brushed the butler’s hand off Gabriella’s elbow.
“Don’t be like this, Miss. If this girl falls and gets hurt, you could get into trouble.”
Amber snorted and let the waiter support Gabriella. However, her hand were still reluctant to free the girl’s hair.
“Please let go!” Gabriella groaned as the roar of her breathing subsided slightly.
“Don’t ask!”
Amber accelerated the steps down the stairs. Once on the flat floor, she pushed Gabriella hard. The poor girl immediately fell down without a chance to support her weight with hands.
“Akh!” Gabriella moaned from pain as her body slammed into the floor.
With weak movements, the girl tried to get up. If it weren’t for the servant’s help, she wouldn’t be able to sit up straight.
Suddenly, Amber’s hand gripped the girl’s chin. With a sharp gaze, she studied Gabriella’s face from all sides.
A few moments later, the rude woman snorted and ended the grip with a gruff push.
“You’re not prettier than me. Tell me, in what way are you teasing Max?” Amber raised an eyebrow defiantly.
“I don’t tease him,” Gabriella replied between sighs of concern.
“You think I believe it?”
Again, Amber grabbed the girl’s hair and forced her to stand up.
“Listen! Don’t you ever set foot in this house again! I won’t apologize a second time.”
Exiting the door, the young woman pushed Gabriella back until she landed on both knees.
While sobbing, the helpless woman held back her exasperation.
“What’s my fault … what’s my fault that everyone treats me arbitrarily?” she muttered in a trembling voice.
The woman who folded her arms across the chest furrowed her brows.
“It turns out that you really are shameless, huh? You have teased my future husband, but still don’t want to confess.”
Gabriella raised her head, revealing a red streak around the lens of her eyes.
“I told you, I don’t tease him! He is the one who took advantage of me!”
One corner of Amber’s lips started twitching with fury.
“How dare you slander Max! My future husband could not possibly be attracted to a lowly woman like you.”
“But, that’s the truth! Just ask him how many times he screwed me when I was drunk.”
A sudden slap silenced Gabriella’s mouth. The butler was wide-eyed and spontaneously knelt beside the girl. Her pitiful gaze fell on the young woman.
“Please … don’t hurt this girl again, Miss Amber! Have mercy on her!”
“Why do you keep defending this girl? Are you both plotting to get Max to turn away from me?”
“It’s not like that, Miss.”
“Aaargh! I’m sick of you. Right now, get away from this house! And, you ….” Amber’s pointed index finger turned towards Gabriella. “Don’t even try to come back here!”
The butler hurriedly got up and helped the poor girl to her feet.
“Come on, Miss, let’s get out of here,” the middle-aged woman who was full of pity whispered.
Gabriella wiped away tears and swallowed hard. The girl did want to get out of the CEO’s house, but not by that way. Therefore, instead of moving away, she threw a sharp gaze.
“You will be rewarded for treating me like this.” Her sigh sounded like a curse.
A breath of disbelief spontaneously blew from Amber’s mouth. The young lady’s eyes had the size of the hatred.
“You really are not self-conscious, huh?”
Without mercy, Amber grabbed Gabriella again and pulled her out to the yard. The girl who was still sitting on the floor was dragged away, holding on to the attacker’s hand.
“Please stop, Miss! Let me take this girl out,” the butler cried from imagining Gabriella’s plight.
She realized that no one else wanted to help the girl. The younger servants only dared to watch from a distance.
“Don’t get in my way! This girl must be thrown into the street.”
Amber dragged the girl with extra effort. However, a second later, her body froze. Someone had gripped her arm with much greater force.
“Let go or you’re the one I throw on the street!”
Amber’s eyes suddenly opened wide. When she turned her head, the CEO’s terrifying gaze greeted. The man was clearly grinding his molars. Inevitably, Amber freed Gabriella’s head.
“Max? I’m helping you get rid of this shameless girl,” the lady said with a stiff smile.
“You’re the one who is shameless! If this girl gets seriously injured because of you, you will regret it for life.”
Amber’s lips suddenly trembled unexpectedly. Even so, she still maintained her cute look.
“Why are you defending this girl, Honey? She’s been presumptuous sleeping in your room.”
“She’s my future wife!”
Everyone who heard gasped in a sudden, especially the young lady who could no longer raise the corners of her lips.
“From this moment on, whoever hurts Gabriella must leave this house!” the man exclaimed aloud.
Amber immediately shook her head not receiving it. “Impossible! I am your future wife.”
“Nonsense! I never proposed or accepted your wedding proposal. Now, get out of here! I’m sick of you.”
Max turned to face Gabriella, but the young lady tugged at his arm for attention.
“What do you mean, Max? Didn’t you agree to marry me?”
The man shook his head with a lopsided smile.
“You’re dreaming,” he said softly but very piercing. Amber spontaneously clenched her hands to hold back the hurt feeling.
“You can’t just ignore me, Max.”
The young lady was still trying to change the CEO’s decision. However, the man had already bent his knees and grabbed the poor girl’s shoulder.
“Are you hurt?” he asked while stroking the girl’s red cheek.
Gabriella closed her mouth. Her puffy eyes looked at the man with anger and suspicion.
