Sophia’s POV
As Emilia concluded her presentation on the Rogues, a palpable seriousness settled over the hall. The gathered werewolf elders, including Alexander and his grandfather, absorbed the gravity of the situation. It was evident that the threat posed by the Rogues was substantial, and the implications for Shadow City were dire.
As Alexander asked us to leave the hall, I exchanged a quick glance with Emilia. It was clear that the conversation that followed required a level of confidentiality that extended beyond our roles as witnesses. With a nod of understanding, Emilia and I made our way out, leaving the elders to their deliberations.
Once outside, Emilia’s demeanor shifted back to its usual carefree and playful state. She flashed me a mischievous smile and suggested, “Hey, since we’re not needed in there, there’s a bar not too far from here. They’ve got these incredibly attractive male models serving drinks. Care to join me for a drink or two?”
I chuckled at her proposition, both surprised and amused by her candidness. “Thanks for the offer, Emilia, but I think I’ll pass this time.”
Emilia’s eyes danced with mirth as she nudged me playfully. “Come on, live a little! It’s not every day you get to ogle some eye candy.”
I shook my head, my smile lingering. “I appreciate the suggestion, but I’m good.”
Emilia let out a mock-sigh, her tone exaggerated. “Oh well, your loss. I guess I’ll just have to enjoy the view all by myself.”
I watched as she playfully pouted, her expressive face a testament to her carefree spirit. While Emilia’s demeanor often clashed with the seriousness of our world, there was something refreshing about her unapologetic nature.
“You’re an interesting one, Emilia,” I remarked, a genuine admiration in my voice.
Emilia’s playful facade softened into a genuine smile. “Why, thank you, sister-in-law. I’ll take that as a compliment.”
The term “sister-in-law” still felt a bit foreign, but her use of it was endearing in its own way.
“So,” Emilia sighed dramatically, breaking the momentary silence, “I guess I’ll have to settle for the two handsome guys I just met.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at her theatrics, appreciating the way she managed to inject humor into the situation.
Upon hearing Emilia’s mention of twins, I couldn’t help but pause for a moment. Twins were quite rare, and it was a coincidence that I also knew a pair of twin brothers. However, I quickly dismissed the thought that they could be Tyler and Jake. The twins I knew were human, and I couldn’t fathom them appearing in Shadow City. With a small laugh, I brushed off the idea, explaining to Emilia that the twins I knew were unlikely to be in a place like this.
Emilia’s laughter filled the air, her amusement contagious. “Isn’t it funny how we all seem to have twin friends? Maybe it’s some sort of universal trend. Are your friends also named Tyler and Jake?” She grinned playfully.
I blinked, taken aback by the coincidence. “Wait, did you say Tyler and Jake?”
Emilia nodded, her grin growing wider. “Yep, that’s what they told me.”
I couldn’t believe it. Could it really be the same Tyler and Jake I knew? It seemed too unlikely, too surreal. “Tyler and Jake… here?” I repeated their names, almost as if trying to confirm it with myself.
Emilia’s eyes twinkled mischievously. “Why, yes, they are. And let me guess, you’re wondering if they’re the same twins you’re thinking of?”
I nodded, my nervousness growing. “I just can’t believe it. How did they end up here?”
Emilia laughed, seemingly enjoying my surprised reaction. “Yep, those are their names. And let me tell you, they were quite a sight when I found them.”
My curiosity piqued, I leaned in slightly. “How did you come across them? And what were they doing here?”
Emilia’s expression turned thoughtful for a moment. “Well, I was on my way back to Shadow City when I saw them at the foot of the mountains. They looked lost, so I decided to see what was going on. Turns out, they were trying to find their way around but had managed to get themselves a bit turned around.”
I was both relieved and intrigued. If it was indeed the same Tyler and Jake, it meant they were safe. But the question remained what were they doing in Shadow City? I felt a mixture of concern and curiosity gnawing at me.
My heart raced even faster, and I couldn’t believe the twist of fate that had brought Tyler and Jake to Shadow City. My mind raced with questions, and I couldn’t help but ask, “Do you have their address? Where are they staying?”
Emilia’s laughter bubbled up once again, and she leaned closer. “Well, aren’t you eager? Sure thing, I can give you their address. But you better not be planning anything dangerous.”
I assured her that my intentions were entirely safe, that I just wanted to make sure they were okay. With a final warning not to breathe a word of this to the male lead, I rushed to the guesthouse where Tyler and Jake were supposedly staying.
As I approached the guesthouse, my heart raced with a mix of anticipation and nerves. I couldn’t believe that fate had brought them here, to the heart of the werewolf territory. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts-how would they react to being in Shadow City? What could possibly have led them here?
I knocked on the door, my heart pounding in my chest. When the door opened, I was met with familiar faces-Tyler and Jake stood before me, looking as surprised as I felt.
“Hey,” Tyler greeted, a mixture of shock and relief in his eyes. “I didn’t expect you to discover us so quickly.”
I didn’t know whether to smile or be angry at that moment. I could feel my heart pounding in my throat.”I can’t believe it’s really you guys.”
