Alexander’s POV
I lead the children through the front door, and as we step inside, a strange silence fills the air. Even Daisy, usually bursting with enthusiasm, is unusually quiet. I can sense that whatever happened outside has affected her. But now is not the time to unravel the reasons behind their somber demeanor.
I guide them into the living room, a space that has already been meticulously arranged and made ready for our arrival. The mansion’s deep cleaning maids and servants had worked diligently to ensure everything was in order.
I can vividly recall Emilia’s initial reaction when I shared my plan to buy a new apartment and move our family there. Her face had contorted with disbelief and frustration, accusing me of trying to escape from her by leaving our luxurious mansion behind. However, I patiently explained that my intention was to bring our children closer to their mother and to court Sophia.
Surprisingly, Emilia eventually relented, even giving me a reassuring pat on the back. Although she agreed, she has yet to move in with us as she had an important mission that she embarked on yesterday. I have no doubt that Emilia, driven by her unwavering determination, will soon join us in this new home. Her presence has always been steadfast, following me wherever I go.
As we settle into the living room, I can’t help but notice the unusual quietness that fills the air. Daisy and Daniel sit on the sofa, their toys abandoned, lost in their own thoughts. I observe them closely, taking in their familiar features. Daisy’s resemblance to Sophia is striking, her eyes reflecting the same sparkle that I fell in love with. On the other hand, Daniel bears a striking resemblance to me, reminding me of the traits that we share.
Despite the subdued atmosphere, there is a glimmer of comfort that washes over me. Sophia’s interaction with the kids earlier reassured me that she genuinely cares for them. It warms my heart to see how easily they connect with her, the genuine smiles on their faces, and the joy that radiates in their presence.
I take a deep breath, trying to compose myself, as I address the kids. “Why don’t you two make yourselves comfortable? You can play or watch TV while I prepare something for us to eat.”
Daisy looks up at me with wide eyes, and her previous excitement replaced by curiosity tinged with worry. “Is Auntie Sophia okay, Daddy? She looked upset.”
I crouch down to her level, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “She’s just a bit surprised, sweetheart. But don’t worry, we’ll talk about it and figure things out together.”
Daisy nods, still concerned but showing trust in my words. “Okay, Daddy. I trust you.”
A smile spreads across my face, grateful for her understanding and faith in me. I then turn to Daniel, who has been silently observing the situation. “Daniel, would you like to help me in the kitchen? We can prepare a snack for everyone.”
Daniel nods, his serious demeanor softening slightly. “Sure, Daddy. I’d like that.”
As we make our way to the kitchen, my mind races, trying to make sense of everything that has happened. Finally, everything is about to be out in the open ad. All that is left is what Sophia would do. I want her to accept the kids and me, too.
Gathering the ingredients for a simple snack, my thoughts drift back to Sophia. I can’t help but feel a mix of guilt and regret for keeping this truth from her for so long. I had my reasons, but seeing her reaction earlier only deepened my understanding of the impact my choices have had on her.
She probably still doesn’t believe that are her kids, considering how grown they are in just a span of a year. But that isn’t surprising; she doesn’t know what kind of creatures they are or who me, their father is.
Werewolves have always possessed fast and af advanced growth, especially in terms of physical quantities, so it explains why they have grown fast. I know I need to explain everything to Sophia to share the whole story. It won’t be easy, but she deserves the truth. But I don’t know if she will be able to accept us.
Lost in my thoughts, I begin chopping vegetables, the rhythmic sound providing a sense of grounding amidst the emotional whirlwind. In the living room, Daisy and Daniel sit side by side on the couch, their eyes fixed on the TV screen, but their minds are clearly preoccupied.
Daisy occasionally steals glances at Daniel, seeking comfort and understanding. Daniel, perceptive as always, meets her gaze and offers reassurance. “It’s going to be okay, Daisy. We have each other, and Daddy will explain everything.”
Daisy looks at him, uncertainty filling her eyes. “Do you think Auntie Sophia will be okay with this? I saw how upset she looked.”
Daniel nods thoughtfully. “I think she needs time to process it all. It’s a big revelation, after all. But I believe Daddy will help her understand.”
Daisy sighs, leaning into Daniel’s shoulder for support. “I hope so. I really like Auntie Sophia, and I don’t want her to be sad.”
Daniel wraps his arm around her, offering a comforting squeeze.
Returning to the living room with the prepared snack, I set it on the coffee table and take a seat beside them. “I hope you’re both hungry. I made us a little snack.”
Daisy looks up at me, a small smile gracing her lips. “Thanks, Daddy. You always know how to make things better.”
I return her smile, appreciating her resilient spirit. “I try my best, sweetheart.”
Daniel takes a bite of the snack, his gaze fixed on me. “Daddy, when are we going to talk to Auntie Sophia? I think she needs to know the truth.”
Pride swells within me at Daniel’s maturity and compassion. I run a hand through his hair, my voice filled with affection. “You’re right, Daniel. We’ll talk to her as soon as she’s ready. I want her to know that we’re here for her, no matter what.”
Daisy adds with determination, “And we’ll tell her that we love her, right, Daddy?”
