Alexander’s POV
After the encounter with Sophia’s roommates, I decide to put that thought aside for now. There are more pressing matters at hand, such as reconnecting with Sophia and introducing her to the twins, Daisy and Daniel.
As I leave the party behind, I find ourselves alone in the car with the children. The atmosphere is filled with a mixture of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation. .
Daisy, the younger and livelier of the twins, immediately notices my presence and voices her complaint in her adorable, childlike manner. “You’ve been away for too long, Daddy!” she exclaims, pouting slightly. Her words tug at my heart, and a smile forms on my face. It’s both heartwarming and amusing to see her reaction.
I reach out to gently tousle Daisy’s hair, my eyes filled with affection. “I’m sorry, princess,” I reply, my voice warm and gentle. “Daddy had some important things to take care of, but I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
As the car begins to drive off, Daisy climbs onto my lap, snuggling against me. Her innocent curiosity shines in her eyes as she looks up at me. “Where did you go, Daddy?” she asks, her voice filled with genuine curiosity and trust.
I meet her gaze, my heart swelling with love for this precious girl. “Well, sweetheart, Daddy had to take care of some family matters,” I explain, trying to simplify the situation for her young mind. “But now I’m back, and we’re going to have lots of fun together.”
Daisy’s excitement grows, and she wriggles in my lap. “Like playing a game?” she asks, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
I chuckle softly, delighted by her enthusiasm. “Yes, just like a game,” I reply, playing along with her. “We’re going to make a plan, a special plan, to help Mom accept us and understand that we’re a family.”
Daisy claps her hands, her face beaming with joy. “I love games, Daddy!” she exclaims, her voice filled with pure happiness.
Meanwhile, Daniel, the older and more reserved twin, watches the interaction silently, his expression unreadable. He looks out the window, seemingly disinterested in the conversation. But I know better. Daniel is observant and introspective, often keeping his thoughts and emotions to himself.
Suddenly, Daniel’s voice breaks the silence, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. “You have mother’s scent on you,” he states, his words carrying a hint of curiosity and suspicion.
Daisy’s eyes widen, and she turns her attention to me. “Really, Daddy? Do you have Mom’s scent?” she asks, excitement bubbling up again.
I sigh helplessly, realizing that I can’t hide the truth from them. “Yes, sweetheart,” I admit, my voice tinged with resignation. “I do have your mother’s scent on me. But you have to understand, Mom is human, and we’re different. We need to be careful and make a plan to help her accept us.”
Daisy nods eagerly, her face lighting up with determination. “I’ll help, Daddy! We can make Mommy love us!” she exclaims, her innocence shining through.
Daniel watches his sister quietly and clicks his tongue as he gives her a look of ridicule at how childish and easily convinced she is. But I can see from the amusement in his eyes that he actually cares about her.
He has always been a mature child in the body of a five-year-old. He settles in his seat and looks at Alexander. “Daddy, how are you handling things?” Daniel is curious. He doesn’t know what Daddy has to deal with, but he has carefully observed him in the past few days and notices that he is usually absent-minded. He stares blankly into the distance. The little boy knows something is bothering him, and if Daddy needs any help, he will be the first to take action. He doesn’t want to disappoint him or see him in distress.
Alexander is stunned to hear him say that. He doesn’t expect Daniel to notice such things. He lowers his head slightly, unable to look directly into his son’s inquisitive eyes. He knows Daniel is meticulous and different from other kids, but he can’t reveal what is happening. Therefore, Alexander lies, “It’s just a small matter. It’s something Daddy can handle.”
He quickly changes the topic, asking, “How is school today? Did you get along well with the other kids?”
“It’s okay,” Daniel replies. His words are measured and deliberate, as if he doesn’t want to say too much.
But Alexander isn’t surprised. Daniel is his son through and through, inheriting all his traits.
Daisy, on the other hand, fidgets in the back seat, looking at Alexander’s side profile. She blinks her big, cute eyes and proudly says, “Daddy, not only do we make new friends, but I also perform magic tricks and show them my flying cards. Some people even want me to be their teacher!”
This makes Alexander smile. He looks at Daisy through the rearview mirror and says, “Well, my little one is really talented. You could become a great magician one day, or even a teacher.”
He looks at the two children and instructs, “Sit tight. Let Daddy take you home.” Alexander starts the car with a spoiled smile and shakes his head helplessly. He wonders whether his brothers did a good job teaching Daisy how to play with flying cards. If she only has an innocent fascination with magic, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But Daisy always seems to have a knack for gambling. If she grows up enjoying going to casinos, it would indeed be a disaster.
As they get to the pack house, they are greeted by a line of workers who bow immediately they appeared.
“Welcome back, Alpha,” they chorus.
Alexander looks at the children and hands them over to the head servant to take care of. Observing their well-behaved expressions, Alexander turns and walks into the bathroom. As the sound of running water fills the air, Daniel hurries to the side of the bed, grabbing Daisy’s arm and speaking in a hushed voice, “Follow me, I’ll show you something big.”
Excited by her brother’s mysterious behavior, Daisy immediately rolls over and jumps out of bed. Whenever Daniel acts this way, it means that something interesting is about to happen. Daisy quietly follows Daniel as they make their way to the study.
Using the family’s personal development, Uncle Zane’s custom-built search engine, Daniel has opened a computer. It leaves traces of any uploaded information on the internet that can’t be easily deleted or reset.
Sitting on a small stool, Daisy watches intently as her brother skillfully operates the computer. Daniel’s hacking skills are impressive, and Daisy believes that he will surely surprise her soon.
“Sister, we’ve got something important this time,” Daniel teases.
“What is it?” Daisy asks curiously.
As multiple pictures appear on the screen, her eyes widen in excitement. The pictures show a woman, average height and beautiful, almost on par with the nosy aunt, no… perhaps even more impressive.
But Daniel’s focus is not on the woman’s looks; it’s on her information and background.
“Sophia Anderson…” Daniel mutters as he studies Sophia’s information intently.
Sophia, a medical student in City B college. She comes from an average family but beautiful and young too. Daniel clicks on one of the photos, revealing Sophia surrounded by a bunch of students.
Daisy leans over for a closer look and like an innocent little flower, exclaims, “She’s so beautiful! Is this Mommy?”
Daniel nods gently, his expression unreadable. “Yes, I think she is Mommy.”
Daisy grows increasingly excited by this as she flails her little arms around and moves closer. “Let me see clearly.” Aftrr a moment, she turns to look at him. “Mommy is so beautiful, why does daddy not want us to go to her?”
Daniel nods, his expression enigmatic. He speaks slowly, “It’s not that he doesn’t want us to go to her. But daddy does not want us to scare Mommy and let her get used to us slowly.
Daisy clenches her small fists, her determination mounting. She had always been a cute and adorable child and all the aunties and uncles in the pack loved to shower her with praises and love. It is only a matter of time before she worms her away into mommy’s heart.
“Daniel, let’s go! We’ll make Mommy love us.”
Understanding the impulsive nature of his sister, Daniel holds her back and says, “Sister, you’re too impulsive. We can let mommy know about us slowly. Just watch and see what I can do.”
Daniel then grabs the mouse and swiftly searches for information on the screen. Daisy, seeing her brother’s concern, returns to the stool, trusting in him.
Daniel’s mischievous eyes light up as he reads the information. He scrolls down and discovers Sophia’s contact information listed there.
Face recognition, image recognition, GPS tracking… These terms float through Daniel’s mind, and a small grin forms on his lips. He says confidently, “Sister, get ready to witness something amazing.”
When Daisy observed her brother’s peculiar smile, she couldn’t help but smile widely. However, she didn’t intervene or stop her brother, allowing her curiosity to guide her actions.
Like a curious cat, Daisy watched intently as David skillfully typed a series of English letters, repeatedly pressing the enter key. The computer screen was soon filled with a dense white code against the black background.
