Nicklaus’s POV
I realized that this is a misunderstanding, and I’m glad she spoke up. Now, I can clear the air and put our minds at ease.
“Never, I will never avoid you no matter what. Please, love, I really don’t want you to think of me that way. I love you sincerely, and I never want to hurt you,” I reassured her. She looked deeply into my eyes, and her charming smile made my heart race. She blushed, noticing my affectionate gaze and my happiness. “Thank you for smiling, my love. So, tell me, Gabby, am I forgiven?”
“Well, I think I’ll have to think about it before giving an answer.”
“Tell me what I can do to make you happy. Just let me know,” I asked, genuinely willing to do whatever it takes to make amends. I couldn’t go to sleep with this tension between us, and I was ready to take any action to resolve it.
“Massage me until I fall asleep,” she requested, looking slightly embarrassed.
“I’ll do that immediately. To do that, I’ll need to strip you off your clothes,” I responded playfully, leaning in for a kiss. Our playful banter continued, but she clarified that this wasn’t what she meant.
“I know, my love, but I couldn’t resist kissing your lips,” I added with a wink. She stood up, already naked, and I admired her alluring figure. She had a captivating and perfect body.
“I need to drink that tonic,” she pointed to something on the table.
“Okay, love,” I nodded. She got off the bed and went over to the table to grab the item. I observed her expression as she drank from it. It seemed she didn’t particularly enjoy the taste, but I refrained from asking her about it. I assumed it was something from Margaret, her mother figure, and trusted her judgment.
She returned to the bed, lying down and turning around, reminding me of my promise to give her a massage. I was tired, but I needed to fulfill my word to her. Her skin was smooth and soft to the touch. I handled her with care, noticing her eyes were drooping and she was yawning. It was clear she was exhausted. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep, and I gently kissed her forehead.
My thoughts returned to what she had shared earlier about our daughter. After ensuring that Estella was safe and sound in her room, I was about to head back to our room when I received a text from Martins: “The enemies are in your domain. I found out too late after torturing those who ambushed us.” Suddenly, my heart raced. The enemies were here.
Without hesitation, I rushed to Estella’s room, picking her up, and carried her to our room where Gabby was sleeping. I gently tapped Gabby, urging her to wake up. However, she responded with a smile as if she was having a pleasant dream. This wasn’t the time for this reaction. I needed her awake and alert.
“Gabby, we’re in danger. I need you to stay here with our daughter. No matter what, don’t leave this room. I promise to protect you,” I instructed, but she remained lost in her dream-like state. It seemed she was refusing to wake up and was enjoying her slumber.
Feeling torn, I decided to leave her be for now. I locked the door and turned off the lights. I concluded that the best way to handle the situation was to draw the intruders away from the room.
Lethal, my wolf form, offered a suggestion: “You cannot take them on alone. Why not inform Margaret? You could use the support of a witch.” While his advice had merit, it was too late to contact Margaret. I believed in my abilities as an alpha and was determined to handle this on my own.
“You’re stubborn, Nick. You don’t know how many enemies there are or what their plan is. What if they harm other witches, or worse, your daughter and wife? Consider seeking Margaret’s help,” Lethal argued.
As much as I appreciated his concern, I had already made my decision. I found one of the younger witches who, though not as powerful as the elders, was capable enough to protect Gabby and Estella.
“We have intruders. I need you to protect my mate and daughter. Let me know if you face any trouble. Can you handle that?” I asked her to gauge her competence.
“Yes, I can. Focus on your duties as the alpha, and I’ll handle mine. I won’t allow any harm to come to The Moon God Luna.”
“Thank you. And one more thing, can you use your magic to inform Margaret about the danger? Let her know that I’m leading them away to the woods.”
“Of course, I’ll do that,” she affirmed confidently. With Gabby and Estella protected, and Margaret informed, I could now proceed with dealing with the intruders.
