OLIVIA’s POV
My lips quivered as I stared at the physician in shock, unable to say anything. If I am truly pregnant, how am I supposed to cope? What am I going to do with an unwanted pregnancy when I have no one to take care of me?
“From the look on your face, I guess you are just finding out that you are pregnant,” the physician said, looking at me while I shook my head.
“You should know,” he informed, “that if you decide to keep this pregnancy, society will brand you as a rogue whore and disregard you. People like you will be avoided, and you are too young to be a mother at your age.”
I held my hands together under the table as my mind wandered to so many things while I was trying to hold back my tears.
Alpha Damon is happy with his mate. Will he believe me if I inform him of my pregnancy? Or will he tell me to get rid of it?
“And if you still want to keep the pregnancy, I will advise you to let the father know. It might make it easier for you,” the physician added and my shoulders slumped.
I should have begged and crawled on my knees to Alpha Damon to forgive me instead of leaving the way I did. I should have asked to be a maid, a slave, anything at all as long as I get to see him every day and agree to be part of our baby’s life.
I stood up from the chair, staggering and almost falling. At a point in my life, I assumed that my happiness would last forever, but everything changed in a twinkle of an eye.
I still do not know why it happened or what Alpha Damon heard about me that he began treating me with so much coldness.
I bowed my head and scurried out of his office, running in the direction my legs took me. I should at least let Alpha Damon know that I am having his baby.
He might believe me, he might want to be part of his child’s life, and he might want to see me again. Those thoughts occupied my mind as I ran to the Alpha’s tower.
Just for this moment, I let myself think of the brighter side and all I needed to do was to meet with Alpha Damon. That could change everything for me, it could turn my life around and I could be happy again.
As I got closer to the tower, my steps began to falter as hesitation settled deep within me. Fear consumed me, afraid that I wouldn’t meet my expectations.
So many what-ifs that I couldn’t provide an answer to become occupants of my head.
I became nervous just thinking about how he was doing and how he looked now. Even if it’s just a glimpse, I wanted to see him.
I knew it was wrong since he now has a Luna but I couldn’t help it. I was foolish enough to have fallen in love with him when I knew that our agreement wasn’t going to last forever.
I couldn’t stop my heart from wavering. I couldn’t stop having those tingles whenever he touched me. I was way too blinded by the way he cared about me that I couldn’t think of the consequences of my actions.
After minutes of deliberating, I made it to the front of the tower. Every feeling I thought I could handle came rushing back at the sight of the place that used to be my haven.
Securities locked and surrounded the giant gate of the tower. I closed my eyes, exhaling and inhaling sharply to calm my raging heart before moving closer to them.
“That’s the former mistress,” one of the securities said and I hit my lower lip in anxiousness. It has just been a month since I left, of course. They’d still remember me.
“Good afternoon,” I greeted with a stutter. “Why are you here, Mistress?” one of them asked, looking around like he was scared that someone would see me.
“Please, can I see Alpha Damon? I won’t waste time, just a few minutes is enough for me,” I implored.
The securities looked at themselves and then at me while shaking their heads in disapproval.
“I am afraid we can’t let you in. The Alpha strictly warned us not to let you close to the gate again. He does not want to see you or have anything to do with you” The security paused while staring at me with a grimace.
“The Alpha knew you were going to come back, crawling to him and begging him to take you back,” he added.
That information shattered my heart. It felt as if someone threw daggers at me and caused immense pain. I wanted to know what I did very wrong for him to give such instruction to his guards.
Do I repulse him that much? Why? No matter how I tried, I couldn’t wrap my head around it. I just couldn’t think of how I offended Alpha Damon.
“I have something very important to talk to him about. Please let me see him. Or at least tell him that I urgently need to see him. Don’t turn me away, please,” I begged, going on my knees.
Once again, I couldn’t stop my tears from streaming down my cheeks and I couldn’t stop my heart from aching so much because of him.
“Please leave, we will get in trouble with Luna if she knows that you are here,” the other person said. I moved towards him and held his trousers.
I might be acting pathetic, but I just wanted to be acknowledged and at least let Damon know that I am pregnant with his child.
“Please, help me talk to him,” I pleaded. The amount of tears I was shedding must have affected them, as I saw the look on their faces soften.
“I will go and inform the Alpha of your presence, and if he doesn’t want to see you, we won’t be able to do anything about it,” he pressed. I precipitously bobbed my head in understanding.
I moved to the side of the gate and sat down, watching him go into the tower. I only saw a glimpse before it was closed.
I jumped from my sitting position when the gate opened after five minutes of waiting. The despairing look in his eyes communicated a lot to me.
I could read the room and tell that he declined my request, which suddenly infuriated me.
“I am sorry, but Alpha Damon rejected your appeal to see him. He asked me to give this to you” The security handed me a paper which I keenly collected.
*You are nothing but a nuisance, Olivia. Stop being clingy, and I hope you understand that I never want to see you again. You were just a burden that I carried voluntarily on my shoulder. Don’t ever show up here again if you want to live. I don’t need your dopey self in my life*
I slumped to the floor as I read the letter in my hand, finding it hard to believe what I just read.
I have been a nuisance all along. I was the only one that was not aware of that.
