Chapter 166

“Ally!” I struggled to my feet and jumped down the bed, fear reverberating through my body at every hit he delivers on his brother out of rage.
I flailed my arms, looking about as I considered what to do. I can’t jump into the fight. It would be a clear suicide. Alonso growled once more, rose his fist, and when it was about to come down on Alfred, he caught Alonso’s fist and twisted it out of his body, and delivered his own punch.
Their positions changed from Alonso being at the top to being below Alfred who began delivering his own round of punches in lethal succession. I panicked. What if he kills Alonso? What if?
I dashed out of the room and nearly tumbled to the ground when my legs collided with the two male bodies strung on the floor, lifeless. My foolish father and my former Alpha. So they followed us here? Well, it’s about time. I told him I will watch him burn. Well, dreams do come true by the way.
I jumped over their bodies and hurried into the hall, and stopped when I came across a crowd who must have been alerted to the brawl from the room, standing about in defense modes, their eyes glowing and their claws ready for attack.
Oh, oh, this was a bad idea. Of course, they will not hesitate to attack my mate if they see their King at a risk.
“They are brothers you will do well to stay away!” I spun at the top of my voice.
“This is our Kingdom and anyone that attacks our King is seen as a threat!” a man said from the crowd boomed and when I followed the sound of the voice, it stopped at a sturdy man. From his gait, he seemed like a high-ranked vampire.
My pants slowed down as I examined them, deciding there would be no need for this. I twisted about and made my way back. I had come out to seek help to stop them. But from what I see, asking these people for help would be like offering my mate and me to them on a platter to feast on.
They were still tumbling themselves when I got back, by now they were half transformed and blood was gushing from them. Alonso was trying very hard not to kill his brother, I could tell. It made me more proud of him. So I did the only thing I could and wish it works.
I scrutinized the room until my eyes landed on a small vase of flowers and I rushed to it, picked it up, and smashed it to the ground. It caught their attention long enough and in that small moments while they appraised me with raging pants I picked up a shard of the vase and pointed it in my neck, at the most delicate part. “I will kill myself if you two do not stop this minute!”
Alonso was first to jerk away and transformed fully back to his human body. “Munchkin, you can’t do that!” He reached out a hand towards me.
I hurried backward. “I will do it, believe me, if you do not stop acting like children!” I wailed. “What is wrong with you?!”
Alfred groaned and was next to him. “Sweetface, stop playing around and allow me kill him once and for all. This is our chance!” He gestures towards both of us.
I gave him a sad smile. “You know, you would have made a good clown if you weren’t too busy trying to be unscrupulous!” I shook my head. “If he dies, I die! If you two continue fighting, I die!”
“What if I die?!” Alfred eyed me quizzically.
I shrugged casually. “Then it’s your loss. You started this!” I added.
“Seriously? You still think this is my fault after everything?!”
“You will surrender and ask for your brother’s forgiveness, Alfred. That is the only thing that can make me forgive you for everything you did and said to me!” I said matter-of-factly and watched dismay flit past his facade.
“I will do that over my dead body!” he hollered.
“Then prepare to die!” Alonso swung at him.
“Stop!” I careened in a tougher voice, thrusting the shard into my neck, and felt a stinging sensation before blood trickled down my neck.
“Danika, stop this instant!” Alonso surged, making his way to me.
“I am tired, both of you! I just want peace, is that too much to ask?!”
“There can only be peace when I finally have what is mine!” Alfred assailed.
“You are already a King here, is that not enough for you?” I peeked at him from the side of Alonso’s body- who was crushing me to him.
“And what of you?” he retorted, sounding like a fool to me.
“I was never yours to begin with.”
I was about to say something when I caught a movement from the side of my face and immediately when we whipped about, I staggered in fear. Theresa? How?
She walked in majestically towards us, leaving all of us gobsmacked. Alfred took the first step forward to her, while I remained molded into Alonso’s body.
But she shocked us further with what she did next. As Alfred reached her, she lifted her hand and delivered a hot slap across his cheek and when he returned with a stunning face, she delivered another round. “You stupid, boy!” she hollered. “I told you to desist from seeing him and you disobeyed me!”
“Mother!” Alfred cried, red veins jutting out from his neck as he flashed his mother his red-rimmed eyes and balled his fist by his side. “I wanted the throne!”
“All I asked was to become the best Gamma to your brother so that your father would roll in his grave in shame for not making you the King! I never asked you to rebel against him!” She surged at him.
“I have only one father!” Alfred challenged, I saw dread muddle Theresa’s countenance at his utterance.
“Shut-”
“No, mother, how come you never cared to ask me how I came to know this man that cared so much as to want to make me a King over his people?”
“And I said-”
“Tell him,” Alfred cut her off, pointing at Alonso. “Tell him the truth at least I now know…”
“I don’t know what you are talking about!” she denied, skidding her eyes about restlessly.
“Okay… Then I will tell him-”
“Stop!” She flailed her arms at him, her voice choking. “Oh, my dear children…” She broke down and went to seat down on the bed. All this while, Alonso has not made a sound, making me look up at him to see if he was okay. His fingers tightened around mine, and he gave me a comforting smile. I was happy about his calmness.
“I’m sorry for everything…” she said and started telling them everything that happened. I held Alonso’s hands when they fell off me and rubbed when he stiffened. Alfred only laughed at his expression since he already knew.
“I can’t believe this!” Alonso’s nose flared after she was through, “You lied to me all these years, mother. You protected him and hated me because of that? That was why you didn’t want the sorceress and her family around? They are part of our family?” the questions flowed in croaked tone.
“I’m sorry, sons,” his mother implored.
Alonso shook his head, took my hands in his, and dragged me close to him, twisting to face his brother. “For your treason, I hope you know you are banished from my Kingdom, Alfred? If I as much as see you within two yards of my lands, I will not be as lenient as today, the goddess and my mate bear me witness…” he proclaimed in contained fury and then veered at his mother. “Since he is your favorite, you can as well, stay behind with him!”
“No!” She jumped up. “You both are my children and I made a mistake.” Tears fell down her face for the first time since I knew her. “I love you two and no matter how much I tried, I could never hate you, Alonso! Please, don’t do this to me. I caused everything and I want to make amends.” My soul thawed for her.
Alonso didn’t reply, only huffed raggedly and tugged me out of the room, out of the mansion, into the day.
