“I will see you at dinner,” Lance told me and made for his keep. There was still that odd glint in his eyes. I wanted to ask Alonso so badly, but I didn’t want to appear too interested in his Beta, considering our past. I didn’t know how he was taking it with him being around and all that, I just didn’t want to give space to anything that would take us back to where we came from.
“Are you good?” Alonso whispered when we were upstairs.
“I’m good,” I said in a jittery voice, owing to his fingers massaging my waist as he stirred me to my room.
“What are you doing?” I asked in a mild voice.
“What?”
“What if Paisley catches you accompanying me to my room, not to mention holding me in such an intimate fashion?” I licked my lips, taking in a large gulp of air to remain poised.
He unlocked the door and gently pushed me inside. “I don’t care. Maybe we should give her a show,” he mumbled, and before I could comprehend what he meant by ‘show’, he flipped me about to latch my back to the door and clashed his lips to mine.
Every protest I was about to put up died on my lips to be replaced with a moan. I grabbed his shirt collar and pulled, desiring him to flatten more than he was, against me. Bouts of needs resonated through my body in demand for a primal response from him.
“You want me? Mm?” he asked huskily.
I nodded. “Yeah, very much.”
“mmm, but you were flirting with him…”
My head was combating to dissect what he was saying but I wasn’t getting it, due to the present position of his hands. It went down my cleavage until his thumb was on my right nipple and began kneading it. Gad, I missed him-even if it hasn’t been long since we had each other.
“Munchkin?”
“Mmm?” I was droning out, and it wasn’t fair him bringing me back.
“Are you still in love with him?” I heard that clearly. It made every ounce of need in me evaporate to be replaced by irritation. At him. I tore my lips away from his, but remained in his arms, my eyes piercing his.
“Munchkin…”
That’s it. I ripped away from him and wiped my mouth. “How could you say that?” I went further into the room.
“I-I”
“You are impossibly unbelievable!”
“You are my mate and judging from what happened in the past…”
“That was in the past! I told you it meant nothing to me. I thought you believed me? Why then did you allow him back if you don’t trust us?” I flung my bag to the bed and went to the window.
He strutted to me, his warmth coming with him. It marvels me how much this man’s presence can tame me. He only needs to stand at the door and his heat and aura would undo me. That is why I like walking away from him whenever I’m angry so that one look from him won’t have me freezing.
“I’m sorry.” He kissed my neck and circled my waist. “I’m being unnecessarily…”
“Jealous!” I finished for him and exhaled. I understand. I would feel likewise if I saw him with Paisley, if not worse. “You have nothing to worry about. Lance is my friend. He learned his lesson while he was away and knows better now. So you have nothing to worry about when it comes to us. We are just friends.”
“I believe you and more because… wait for it.” He smirked at me and twisted me about to stand behind me at the window with my butt meeting his groin. He was so hard.
“What? Just say-” The words quenched in my mouth at what I saw next. I felt him stiffen meaning he saw it too. Laying on the bed, was a withered rose, and red lingerie. The same from the past.
“What the fuck?” He gently pulled away from me and strode to it. I was right behind him in shock. He picked up the rose and a white card fell out. He picked it up and opened it, my head craning to reach his tall hands and see the wordings.
‘Long time no see, Princess. How about I tell you it’s time to come home?’
I went pale. Impulsively, my eyes scanned my room in abject apprehension. They are back stalking me?
Alonso’s veins protruded from his neck as he squashed the card and flung it away, picking the rose and the lingerie off the bed. “I am tired of being lenient with these people! Just because I have been so soft and considerate and now they are touching my buttons?! What the hell!”
“You have to calm down.” I touched his flank as someone knocked, making me jump. Before I would say come in, the door swung open and Nadia danced in singing, “Beta Lance is back!” With her arms wide, her face stretched in glee. All that perished when she saw Alonso.
“Oh, I’m sorry, my King. I didn’t know you were here.” Her face fell, her hands going to her front, fidgeting, her eyes pleading for my intervention. The way my friends feared everyone in this mansion is so unnerving and hilarious.
“It’s okay, Nadia…” I waved her forth. “I think the vampires are back.”
“What?” Her eyes danced in perplexity.
I nodded towards what the King was holding. “We found that on my bed.”
“Oh, my. We have to do something fast then…” She paused, her eyes looking skeptical as though she wanted to share something but was withholding. I know it’s because of the King’s presence.
“What is it, Nadia? The King is with us on this,” I added the last part for assurance.
After a little reluctance, she said, “I came to check on you thirty minutes ago, but when I got to the intersection between your hall and the other half that leads to the Queen’s hall by the right, I caught a faint scent of someone familiar but to be sure, I leaned by the wall and peeked. Then I saw Sir Alfred coming and had to take off.” She fiddled with her skirt. “You know how scared we all are of him.” As if they aren’t scared of everyone.
“Alfred? In my hall. You didn’t see what he was doing here or if he entered my room?” I asked, still finding it bizarre. He hardly comes by my hall. His hall is far from mine, so what could he be doing here?
“I didn’t. I’m sorry,” she said mousily.
“No, don’t worry. I am surprised, that’s all.”
“Hey.” Alonso grabbed my shoulders and twisted me around to face him. “Grab all you will need and go to my room. I need to sort out a few things, okay?”
“Wh-where are you going?” I asked skittishly. I wouldn’t want him doing anything rash. Nadia might have seen Alfred in my hall. That doesn’t mean anything. He might have been passing by.
“Just do as I said. You,” pointing at Nadia as he continued, “make sure she is safely in my room, and then bring her down to dinner later, okay?” he ordered. Nadia’s head missed falling off as she bounced it in response.
Oh, not again! Not now!
