Morning came faster, and I woke up with a smile on my face. Things are finally working out for my good. I lay in bed for another three minutes, reminiscing about last night.
Alonso was no longer the man I used to know. He had changed drastically in ways that are unimaginable. The only thing remaining was for him to change his mind about marriage to Paisley and with the way things are going, I was certain that decision was not far-fetched. Thoughts of his confession to me came trickling back. He called me the best woman alive! Could you imagine that?
I looked to the side where he slept off last night while I watched him, sleep eluding me as I tried to make that moment last forever. I didn’t want to sleep in fear that I would wake up and everything would be a dream. Our declarations and all the shared promises. It was surreal.
How can I ever forget that in a bit?
I craned my hand to pick up my phone and check the time. It was 7:30 am. With a heavy heave, I sat up and said a little prayer of gratitude to the moon goddess, and a plea to her to make this happiness in my heart, Iast forever.
After that, I went to wash my face and brush my teeth, then I changed to my trainers and left my room. After what happened yesterday, I’ve been skeptical about Alfred. I don’t have a problem with him, yet, I think I have to talk to him about the ill-treatment of his brother. He might have the support of their mother, but that doesn’t mean he should take advantage of it to be mean to him.
On getting down, I saw him doing his first rounds which consisted of running a few laps to prepare for the main training on the grounds.
I stood with my drinking bottle waiting for him to run down from Lance’s quarter’s direction. If I say I didn’t miss him, it would be a fib. Before today, I did this exercise by myself and went to the ground all alone. It wasn’t fun.
“It’s good to see you, Sweet face. What a good morning, don’t you think so?” He stopped in front of me and asked, still jogging, with his signature smirk on.
“Indeed it is, Alfred. Hope you slept well?” I inclined my head to the side, replacing the position of my bottle.
“Yes, I did!” He winked at me and ran off to the end of the yard. Watching him go, his back abs flexing with his movement, what he said yesterday came tumbling back. It frightens me as much as I want to deny it. After Alfred kissed me the last time and asked for forgiveness, I had forgiven him because I believe he might have fallen into temptation and done it in a moment of weakness, now I’m not so sure.
He’s my friend that’s the only mantle I’m holding unto. I don’t want to stay away from him due to something as fickle as that. What if he was merely joking?
He came back. “I will be back with the car!” He ran past me towards the garage.
Suddenly I felt a movement behind me and whirled around and was shocked to see Alonso coming out. I froze, my eyes rapidly flicking in the direction Alfred ran to in uneasy.
“Morning, beauty,” he appeared beside me to say, fully kitted in his trainers. I have never seen him dressed like this. It brought out every muscled part of him in a delectable way.
“Don’t have such thoughts unless you want me to order you back and come to your room to act on them, Munchkin,” he mumbled, cleared his throat, and shifted away when Alfred’s car came roaring to us.
“Where are you going?” I survived out of my perplexity to ask.
He cocked his brow with a heavenly grin. Gad, save me. “What does it look like? I told you I’m going to help you, what do you expect?” He rapped my shoulder and bounced to the waiting Wagon, to my mortification. When I gathered my courage and matched after him, still in awe, I wasn’t shocked to see the look on Alfred’s face either.
It seems we had the same thought.
“Come on, drive, brother. Time ticks and waits for no man,” he beamed at Alfred, who if shocker was the name of a man, I would gladly call him that.
“Look, Alonso. I don’t want any trouble this morning. It’s damn too early. You and I both know you have a personal training ground, what are you doing?” Alfred cocked his well-shaped brow at his brother.
Alonso grinned widely. Gad, this man grinned widely. And his grin was… I’m feeling wet! Why on earth should a man look this good? And he doesn’t show it? Well, I think it’s a good thing. Imagine if he goes about the world smiling like that… Women would go to war to stay by his side. I wouldn’t stand a chance.
Thinking that was all, he did another gobsmacking gesture, he reached out and tapped his brother’s shoulder cheekily. “Don’t be pissed, brother, I woke up today and I said to myself. Why don’t I engage more with my pack members? Maybe by then, I can find out the shits that have been going on beneath my nose. After all, I’m their Alpha King, it wouldn’t be that bad to be around them, should it? Or do you have a problem with that?” he asked as his brow tolled to his forehead, ogling Alfred.
Taking in a large gust of air, Alfred’s lips went in a straight line as he reached out and turned on the ignition. I held back on the back of the car tightly as he did a mad reverse like Alonso and poof! He zoomed out of the compound.
“Whoooo!” Alonso howled, lifting his both hands up to applaud his brother’s move.
At this point, I think something inexplicable has possessed his body. This doesn’t in any way look like our King. The Alonso that is often scowling and aloof, being all open-minded and beaming like this? It’s funny though. Here he is acting like Alfred while Alfred is acting like him. From his facial expression, it’s plain as day that Alfred was having a rough day.
“If you don’t stop acting like some teenage weirdo, I swear I’m going to toss you out of my damn car! What’s up with your ass this morning, man?” Alfred asked him, giving him an uptight side glance while trying to maintain his focus on the road.
“What? I’m just happy this morning. Are you sad that for the first time in a long time I’m feeling this excited, brother?” He slanted his broad shoulder toward his brother in askance.
Alfred, giving up, sighed, brushed his hands through his already tousled locks, and gave his full attention to the road.
However, I think I’m getting the full situation now. Alonso is apparently happy because, like me, we both had the best night ever. We might not have engaged in any physical intimacy, yet, what we shared with each other was the best we have had since we met each other. He might have not told me everything, but with the little he shared with me, little by little we will get there. I’m certain about that.
The training went well, the pack members that came for the training were like Alfred and me, very stunned to see the King in their midst. They came to acknowledge him, took advantage of the opportunity of seeing him around, to train around him, then when morning was full upon us, he beckoned us to leave.
I was exhilarated too. He taught me something new I haven’t learned before, which had to do with utilizing the power of wrath from my energy to channel my power towards hurting my opponent if I don’t want to kill them. Alfred had gone the moment we got to the training ground so he wasn’t present when I learned it. I was grateful too, not wanting him to feel bad.
The ride home was as intense as it was when coming. Alas, we got home and I couldn’t wait to run off to my room and prepare for breakfast. Finding myself alone between these two brothers is among the worst things I have to endure. The only thing I do is maintain silence in order not to look like I was taking sides with any of them.
“You look yummy!” Nadia commended when I was done dressing for breakfast. I beamed at her through the mirror and slowly stood from the chair to admire her handwork. I liked the way she arranged my hair to fall on my shoulders as well as the terrific red sequin gown. It was soft to my skin, tight, and yet comfortable.
“Thanks, Nadia. It’s all your hard work.” I picked up my phone from the table and made it to the door.
“Should I bring out your work clothes or you aren’t resuming yet?” she asked, stopping me in my tracks.
“Yes, thank you. I will be going to work.”
I entered the dining room and was about to sit down close to Alfred when Theresa came in. I mouthed thanks to the Omega that served me and started eating earnestly. I have to leave early to work since it’s my first day after such a long time.
Then someone cleared their throat, and when I peeked up from my cup of tea, it was Paisley. She was beaming widely, signaling she had something significant to say. Without her uttering it, I instantly knew this thing she was about to say would not bore well with me or Alonso.
“I’m pregnant!”
