I walked out of the room few minutes later without waiting for Tyrex to come back. There was no need to do that. He would see the meat I had killed and that was the proof he needed to know that he had lost to me. It wasn’t a total loss though as the one who lost in the duel for the position of the alpha automatically became the general of the pack.
I hoped that the two of us would be able to work together for the better purpose of the pack. It wasn’t an easy thing to wish for at this moment but I hoped that we could make it work. With the way Fedro hated my guts and the win that I had, I could only hope that he didn’t incite Tyrex to rebel against me.
I hoped that Tyrex wasn’t a fool and a man of his own. I hoped that he wasn’t swayed by Fredo to cause trouble and we would be able to have a stronger pack with the cooperation of the two of us.
I decided that I would have a meeting with Tyrex after our initiation ceremony as the alpha and the general of the pack. I would have had a talk with him but it wasn’t now. I had to have my bath first. I had to wash off all the grime and sweats that was stuck on my body.
I soaked myself in the bathroom, letting the water from the tap run down my skin as I rubbed my hand all through my skin.
I was barely out of the bathroom when the door was pushed open and Mia came running in. She flew straight into my arms, her body molding perfectly into my wet skin. She didn’t seem to realize yet that I was naked and I didn’t mind as well. I wrapped my hands around her and sighed, breathing with ease as I nuzzled my head into her neck.
I had missed her. She smelled nice. She finally eased away from me and looked at my face, searching my eyes. She placed her hand on my face, caressing it. Her eyes were tender as she looked at me and my heart swelled up at the look in her eyes. Her eyes were full of love, reminding me of how much I had missed her and craved to see that look in her eyes.
“I heard the news.” She smiled. “Congratulations.”
I smiled. “Congratulations to us. You are going to be the next Luna of the pack as well.”
“I missed you. I never thought that I would see your face so soon again.”
I chuckled. “Now, don’t be dramatic. You know that you are eventually going to see me.” I smiled at her. I knew that she was being dramatic but I liked it.
She rolled her eyes. “Are you kidding? I haven’t seen you ever since that the elders came and you started that procession of being the alpha. I didn’t have any information and you all said it was like a battle of survival. I had no news of what was going on and all I could bank on was the little news I heard from your brothers. I had to deal with fear from ignorance of not knowing what was going on and I had to deal with dealing with panic.”
She seemed close to panic and I was overwhelmed with how worried she had been on my behalf. I couldn’t blame her. The elders had locked me and Tyrex up in the cave for days ever since they had picked the day of the duel. They had prevented us from seeing anyone from that day till the day of the actual duel and all we were allowed to do were to eat, drink, rest and train in preparation for the duel.
I could understand how frustrated Mia would be. If no one was permitted to see us despite them being a wolf, I could imagine that Mia would be turned back immediately as she was human. I was sorry for what she had to go through.
“I’m sorry. It’s part of the processes of the pack. I will make sure I get you in as fast as I can.”
She smiled as she nodded. “You don’t have to be sorry. There is no rush to do whatever you want to do. I am just glad that you are okay.”
“I’m okay and I’m sorry once again.” I said, apologizing in a way that I knew best as I took her lips in mine and kissed her in a way that I had been yearning to do ever since she had come into my bedroom.
I realized at that moment that I had missed her more than I thought. I had missed this woman, I thought as I kissed her deeper, pulling her into my arms and never wanting to let go.
