Mia
It was nice to see the house back to its former state. We had cleaned up the house without the staff. Albert didn’t want them to deal with the sight of the messed up house and have trauma of the incident that he was certain they were trying to keep buried. I knew already that he was a good man that what he did didn’t surprise me anymore.
After the house had been cleaned and everything restored to their position, we had started putting calls through to the staff. They had been relieved to hear that we were back home and safe and we were relieved that they were interested in working with us again.
They were all back yesterday and we were a happy family once again. At the moment, we were seated at the dining table enjoying a treat from the cook.
There was laughter all around the table and I was glad to see that. I was overjoyed to see the relaxation on the faces of everyone. It was easy to forget the rough journey we had all been through this last month.
“Here you go.”
We all looked up at the head cook as she dropped a dish before us on the table. The table was getting filled more than we could eat and I wondered if someone was having a party and we didn’t know of it. Had Albert given instructions for a party to surprise us?
I looked at him and realized that he was as surprised as I was. I looked at the boys but it wasn’t them at all. They looked back at me and shrugged, with smiles on their faces. Who wouldn’t smile? The aroma of the food was so high that my taste buds were already watering and I felt like salivating even though I was almost full. The head cook had gone all out on this meal and it was still a wonder to us why she bothered at all.
“What is all this?” Albert asked, sweeping his hands over the table.
We should have known that something was up with her the moment she kept on bringing one food after the other this morning. We should have known that she wasn’t done yet. Maybe then we would have been able to avoid being as surprised as we were.
“A welcome treat. We are so happy that you are back home from your journey.”
“Thanks.” Albert smiled at her. “We are so glad to be back as well.”
“I want to treat you to all the good food that you would have missed while you were not around.” She smiled and made a gesture at the food.
She was Godsent. How did she know that we would have missed good homemade meals?
“Hmmm, this is good.” I moaned as I took a bite of the new dish she brought.
“Thanks, Miss.”
I noticed how the eyes of the boys darkened at my moan and I blushed. Albert noticed the reactions between us and chuckled.
The cook oblivious to what was going on asked if there was a problem with the gesture. “Do you find it funny that I assumed you didn’t eat well on your journey? I’m sorry if I crossed the line.”
Albert shook his head. “No, not at all. You didn’t cross the line and your thoughtfulness was well appreciated.”
I smiled. If only the cook knew how right she had been, she wouldn’t ever have thought that she crossed the line. I wondered what she would do if she found out that Albert had been a stone for months and he hadn’t been able to eat at all. I was sure that she would have cooked the whole kitchen and forced him to eat.
I smiled at how funny that image would have been.
Albert continued. “I’m just smiling at how cute Mia looked when she said the food was good.”
Oh! Stop it, Albert. I started to blush again. I knew he wasn’t referring to what I said about the food but the look on my face. He didn’t have to remind me of my moan and what I had awakened in the boys. He was being as naughty as his sons.
The boys smiled at him as if they knew what their father was trying to do. Of course, they did.
Jack took a bite of the food. “Yes, dad. She looked so cute that I felt like having a taste of it.”
He stared at me as he slipped the fork into his mouth and I gasped, wondering how such a simple act of eating could seem so hot and I knew that he had done it on purpose.
I suddenly felt hot as I looked at him. How could he? How could he do that? We were in the presence of his dad and he was trying to seduce me.
It worked. It fucking worked as I suddenly remembered that it had been long that I had made out with them. We had been so busy with dealing with the vampires that we hadn’t thought of it.
“Mia,” Quinn gasped and cleared his throat.
I wondered why he was looking at me the way he did until I got a whiff of the scent in the air. Damn, I was turned on and my arousal was all over for all to sniff. I blushed, feeling embarrassed. This was one of the downside of being with werewolves. Nothing stayed hidden with them.
I couldn’t look at Albert. I felt stupid for my reaction. I might as well have blurted out loud to him that I wanted to sleep with his sons.
“I’m sorry.” I blushed.
Albert chuckled. “Don’t worry about that, honey. It’s not your fault.”
The cook, oblivious to what had happened as she couldn’t sniff the air with heightened senses, also nodded and tried to cheer me up. “Exactly, young mistress. You shouldn’t feel sorry for looking cute when you tasted a good food.”
I looked up at her and smiled. If only she knew how her ignorance about the whole situation helped me to feel better. “Thank you, ma’am.”
“You are welcome, Miss.” She smiled back.
“Mia was right. This is actually good.” Jack said.
“Thanks, young master.” She smiled. “I hope you all enjoy it.” She was about to leave when she turned back. “When is the madam coming back home?”
Albert nodded as he pushed a forkful of food into his mouth. “She will be back soon.”
“Good.” She smiled and went away.
After we were all done with breakfast, Albert excused himself from the table. “I feel sleepy.”
“Haven’t you been sleeping all along, dad?” Jack teased his dad.
Albert chuckled. “I thought that I had also slept for a lifetime as well until I started to feel a lot of sleepiness this time. Maybe I’ve gotten used to being a stone and inactive that my body didn’t know what else to do with itself.”
“You should get it to start living like the body of an alpha werewolf.” John chuckled.
Albert smiled. “I know. Very soon, my wife would be around and I would feel alive as much as you all do.”
“We hear.” The boys chuckled.
He shook his head, ignored them and went inside to his bedroom.
Quinn turned to us when we were all alone. “Do you want to sleep as well?”
“This early?” Jack nodded. “You have to be kidding.”
Quinn chuckled. “Why didn’t you tell dad that he was kidding when he said he was going in to sleep?”
Jack rolled his eyes and snorted. “Don’t be ridiculous. Dad is old but we are not.”
“I heard you, boy.” Albert roared from the corridor. “Let me pounce on you and you will see what this old man can do to your bones.”
We all laughed at the playful growl in his voice. I had known how his voice would have sounded if he was angry. Now he wasn’t but having fun teasing his sons just as they were also messing with him.
Quinn chuckled. “Don’t mind him, dad. You are still the strongest of all of us.” He shouted.
“Don’t patronize me, boy.” Albert snorted.
We laughed as we heard his receding footsteps. Quinn turned to us again the moment we knew he was gone finally.
“What do you say to going out and having fun tonight? We can relieve the stress of the adventures we had been on and relate with others as normal humans again.”
“I’m interested in that.” We all echoed at the same time and smiled at one another.
Quinn grinned. “Good. Sounds like a plan. We would leave a note for dad when he wakes up.”
