Quinn
This was my time. This was our time. I had been trying to make them believe me all this time but they had chosen not to. Things wouldn’t have gotten to this stage if only they had. We wouldn’t have to watch everything go down the way it had earlier today. No one would have been hurt and we wouldn’t have to watch the vampire king slap his bride. We wouldn’t have had to watch and hear him sound so broken after he realized what he had done.
It wasn’t that I was happy at what had happened because it made them believe me. I didn’t like any of it. What was meant to be a day of happiness to the couple became a day of agony. I was even sad that it had happened because I was worried that the dark wizard was fully taking over the mind of the vampire king if he couldn’t control himself from hurting the woman he loved. It was no wonder that he had been throwing everyone of his people into prison.
He had lost it a long time ago but they chose to believe that he was only crazy because of the fall that he had.
I shuddered at the thought of having the dark wizard rule the vampires in the body of the vampires. I wondered if that was why he had possessed him. If he had the powers of his evil magic and he lived in the body of a vampire, he would be the next powerful being in the world and no one would be able to suppress him again.
It was necessary that we stopped him now before he become stronger. I was glad that the men would finally see what we had been trying to tell them for ages.
Mia sighed as we walked back into the cell and the guards locked the door behind us.
“That was a bad thing to see.” She shuddered as she went to sit at her usual corner. “I pity Ava.”
I did too. I also pitied Ethan. I couldn’t imagine losing control over my sanity and realizing that I had beaten Mia up. I would be broken and hate myself. I would find it hard to forgive myself. I could feel Ethan’s pain and hoped that he used it to want a cure for himself.
I hoped that now he realized that he had an issue that needed to be solved.
Everyone was silent as we were locked up in their cell, each lost in their own thoughts. I could tell that the vampires were finding it hard to believe what had happened. I couldn’t blame them. I found it hard to believe as well. No one was talking. I kept on looking at the door to the dungeon, hoping that Rudolph would walk in. He should have realized that I was telling the truth and we were the ones that he needed.
He should have been here except he didn’t care about the king and I knew that wasn’t true. I could tell that he loved the king and was worried about him.
“What are you looking for?” John asked.
“Rudolph.”
“Don’t tell me you think he would come here believing your story?” He snorted.
“I do.” I replied him. “He will be silly if he doesn’t believe me after what happened today.”
“I think he might feel more silly if he believes you. Don’t you see that they all believe you are saying that to get a free ticket out of prison?”
“We shall see.” I told John. I believed that they would come around to what I was telling them.
“He will come.” Mia said suddenly.
We all turned to her in surprise. We had thought that she was asleep as she had leaned on the wall and closed her eyes immediately we got back into the cell.
“Why do you say so?” Jack asked.
She didn’t even open her eyes as she replied us. She didn’t even budge an inch, only her mouth moved as she answered us. I sighed. She must really be tired. I felt sadness creeping around the edges of my heart till it filled it to the brim.
I wasn’t comfortable that my woman was having a rough life. It wasn’t easy sleeping on the cold, hard floor of the dungeon for days. I knew she didn’t complain but it must be hard on her still.
“I glanced at Rudolph as we were being walked back into the cell. He was staring at Quinn and had this thoughtful look in his eyes. I believed he was already considering what he had said. He stopped staring at Quinn when he realized that I had caught him staring. We would have to wait and see what happened.” She said, shrugged and went still again.
The door opened and we all turned to it to check who was coming in. We sighed and sat back in disappointment when it was a guard who walked in, carrying dishes of food for the prisoners. The people outside must have been too dismayed to eat the food that was meant to have been served at the wedding because of the incident, the portion for each prisoner was double of what it was meant to be. We even had food brought in to our cell as well.
I watched as the door kept being opened and closed and yet, Rudolph didn’t walk in. My brothers looked at me with a smirk on their faces as if to remind me that they had told me so. I was glad that I hadn’t made a bet with them over this. I would have regretted it.
I sighed as I sat back down on the floor and stopped looking at the door. I didn’t think that he was going to come. It was soon going to be feeding time for the vampires. The guards would come for the other prisoners who were vampires and they would all go out to hunt animals and feed on blood.
The guards came in, led the men outside and soon we were left alone to ourselves in the dungeon. It was a norm I was used to already after experiencing days of it. The vampires would be out for hours until the whole clan had all drank to their fill.
The door opened five minutes after the dungeon had been cleared out and I turned to it with curiosity, wondering which of the guards had forgotten something.
Rudolph walked in, looking as angry as I had ever seen him. “Now, tell me more of this dark wizard and how we can get rid of the bastard.”
I smiled as I stared at him. Now, that was what I was talking about. I winked at my brothers, telling that I had won the bet even though we had never spoken of it out loud.
Jack rolled his eyes and mouthed congratulations to me. I didn’t have to hear his voice to know that he was being sarcastic. He hated being wrong and losing as much as I did. He was only good with this because losing his own side of the bet was a benefit to us all.
I almost laughed at the expression on his face but I couldn’t as I was afraid that Rudolph would misunderstand me and think that I was laughing at him.
I cleared my throat of the laughter lodging in it and stared at Rudolph, moving straight to business.
