Mia
Where was the boys? I asked with panic ringing in my ears as I realized that I couldn’t see them behind me any longer. Maybe the boars had finally caught up to them and they were fighting it. I knew looking for them would be stupid and nothing but a distraction that they didn’t need and decided to stay where I was and wait for them.
I trusted them. They wouldn’t leave without me. If they were done, they would find me and we would continue on our journey.
I waited and began to frown when I realized that two hours had passed and they were nowhere to be found. Had they lost their way trying to search for me? I didn’t think it should be that hard. I had only been running in a straight direction. I believed that it would have been easier to trace me.
I got up on my feet and decided to look for them myself. I scowled as a bright light suddenly appeared in my path. I blinked and covered my eyes with my hands. By the time I opened them, I was shocked to find myself staring at a hard wall.
“What a strange place.” I muttered to myself. That hadn’t been there earlier when I had walked past the place.
I turned back to find another route to get to the boys and stopped when I saw a swirling mirror. I was still thinking of how weird everything was becoming fast when the mirror became solid and words began to appear on it.
If you want to go through the portal and move successfully through the Island of Death to get what you want, you have to battle your fears. You will be safe if you can overcome your fears but you will die here if you can’t win over your fears.
I didn’t have time to worry about what it meant before images began to appear on the screen. I tried to move away to avoid the scene but I couldn’t. My feet were stuck to the ground and I knew that they weren’t going to move until I was done watching the bizarre movie the mirror was trying to show me.
I saw myself in the mirror fighting with the boys. I had a huge ring on my right finger and another smaller one that looked like a wedding band on my left finger. The boys had rings on their fingers as well asides Quinn who had two just like I did. I figured that we were mated already and Quinn had become the alpha.
I snorted at the projections on the mirror. Was this showing my fears or the future? I had already resigned to being mated to the three of them. All I had to do was love them. If this was the future, then I was relieved because I didn’t have to worry about Quinn dying while fighting to secure the title of an alpha.
I gasped as the graphics suddenly changed. I yelled at the boys in anger and walked away. The boys turned to one another and started blaming one another for my reaction. Their anger got the best of them and they started fighting.
I gasped, falling down on my knees as I watched their fight, tears rolling down my eyes. I didn’t want this. This was what I had been trying to avoid. I was always worried that I would be the reason that the boys would separate instead of why they would get closer.
How would three boys be in love with a lady and there wouldn’t be any problem? I was always worried that I would cause a rift among them and see it already being displayed.
“Come on, Mia. It’s not real.” I repeated to myself to get the fear off my head. “It’s nothing but an illusion. I don’t have to give in to it. This is just about my fears and these are false events appearing real. It didn’t mean that they are happening already.”
I kept giving myself some motivational boost, thankful for all the books I had read, till I stopped feeling guilty about the fight the boys had had. It wasn’t even like they were already fighting at the moment. If I knew nothing at all about them, I knew they were as thick as thieves and I was going to make sure that they didn’t become distant because of me.
I thought I was done when the mirror went blank until another image crept on it. This one was more bizarre.
An image of me dressed in wedding gown popped up on the screen and I thought that it was still the same concept as before. Maybe I was being shown how my marriage with the boys was going to be. I didn’t know that they wore white in their tradition. I had assumed that it was going to be a different thing I would wear to be mated to them and crowned the Luna of the pack since they were such a primitive pack.
I turned my head to the mirror and noticed that the groom had appeared before me. I blinked. This couldn’t be right. This couldn’t be happening. Beside me was the dark wizard dressed in a suit with his hand wrapped around me and looking evil as usual. On the floor were the boys lying dead with blood flowing out of their skins and I realized as I looked closely at the image that I had a knife in my hand with blood dripping from it.
I had betrayed the boys to the dark wizard and had killed them by myself. They probably hadn’t put up a fight because of their love for me because there was no way that I could have killed them all on my own. I had to be crazy to do that.
No, it wasn’t real. I kept reminding myself but it looked so real that I screamed, my heart filled with pain.
The dark wizard in the mirror sneered at me as if it knew that was my greatest fear.
