Mia
What have I done? I groaned out a curse as I sat up in bed, my eyes widening in alarm as I noticed that I was naked.
I felt sore underneath and didn’t need to touch myself to know that I was dripping wet.
Slowly, the events of the previous night came to my mind and I cringed, overwhelmed with the need to run inside a closet and hide my face from the world.
What have I done?
I doubted that I was ever going to stop asking myself that question. I had lost my shame and dignity for some moments of pleasure.
What was Quinn going to think of me now?
There was no pretense again for me. There was nothing I was going to say that he would believe me. I had shown him that I wanted him and he was going to chase after me like a bloodhound till I wholly surrendered to him.
What was I saying? Being with one was agreeing to be with the three of them.
Quinn was going to keep coming around till I surrendered and agreed to be a mate to all of them. I remembered how Jack had reacted when he found out that I had kissed Quinn. I couldn’t imagine what he would do if he found out that I had slept with Quinn. He would be on my trail, chasing after me and leaving me nowhere to run to.
Oh God! I had kissed Quinn. What have I been thinking? It was certain that I hadn’t been thinking at all. I was messed up.
I mustn’t let the others know what had happened between me and Quinn. I wouldn’t even confront him this time if he acted like nothing had happened between us. I was going to have to tell him that last night was a mistake in case he had hopes that I liked him and something could work out between us.
That was what I was going to do. That was the right thing to do.
I was glad that I didn’t wake up to see him in my room or I would have felt awkward than I did at the moment. He must have known that and left quietly before I woke up.
There was no proof at all that he had been here last night or that we had gotten naughty with each other. The only proof of what we had done was my body and how I felt at the moment. That was nothing a shower or a hot bath couldn’t fix.
For someone who was as cold as Quinn was, I was touched by how sensitive and thoughtful he was.
I cleared my throat and rolled my eyes at myself. This was no time to be thinking of Quinn in a find manner.
I got up from bed and got myself busy with tidying up the house, fixing myself breakfast and doing laundry. I did anything to get my mind off Quinn.
I found a lot of work for myself that Saturday that I didn’t have anything to do the following day.
I spent the whole of Sunday bored and thinking of Quinn, even when I didn’t want to, that I was overjoyed when it was dusk. I couldn’t wait for Monday. I would get the distraction I needed at work.
I was the first to get to work and my colleagues were shocked to find me at my desk.
Sammy looked at me in surprise, whistling low under his breath. “Did you sleep outside your home?” He teased.
I smiled back at him. “I slept at home. Why?”
“You are early. It seems like something chased you away from your bed and you have nowhere to run to but work.”
I gulped and smiled at him, keeping my face blank with no emotions. If only he knew how close to the truth he was.
My heart stopped as I saw Gerald walk into the office, remembering our last conversation and hoped that he wasn’t still holding that against me.
He smiled as he saw me, surprising me. I was relieved though. “Good morning, Mia. Good morning, Sammy.”
“Good morning, Gerald.” I breathed in relief, glad that we were fine.
Sammy turned to him. “Good morning. We were just talking of how Mia was the first person to get to work. You can’t believe the time she signed in.”
Gerald chuckled. “It seems like she is getting to get the best employee award. That is nice. All that energy she is choosing to spend on only work must go somewhere.”
I looked up at him, wondering if he was taunting me for always rejecting dates. I guessed I already had a reputation in the office by now. He looked sincere though and didn’t seem like he was teasing me.
He didn’t even look like a man who had been trying to get me out to dinner last weekend. He seemed like a colleague, like one who never wanted me.
I was relieved that he wouldn’t disturb me for dates but I found it a little strange that he had moved on so quickly.
The two excused themselves and went to their desks. I was busy all day intentionally, doing both what was asked of me and what I didn’t need to do just to keep him off my mind.
I had thought that I wouldn’t have the time to think about him if I had a lot of tasks to do but I had only deceived myself.
Thoughts of him still crept into my head that I almost cried out in frustration.
The next day came and I couldn’t stop thinking of him still despite how hard I tried. I listened to music to distract myself and yet my thoughts shifted to him moments afterwards.
I dreamed of him at night and he jumped into my head when I woke up.
What was wrong with me? I was acting like a school girl with a crush but I knew that wasn’t the case. I didn’t love Quinn. I didn’t want to love him.
I suspected that he had done something to me to make me act this way but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions and accuse him of what he didn’t do.
I was the weak one who couldn’t get over a one-night stand.
