Mia
I dashed to my room in a rush. I didn’t even bother to lock the door, deciding to deal with it later. If I had known, I would have locked it because it was an act that I regretted moments later.
I was troubled in my mind. What have I done? I shouldn’t have asked Quinn why he was avoiding me. Now, everyone knew how I felt and what had happened.
I paced around the room, clenching my hands together and bit my lips, lost in thoughts.
My phone rang and I jumped, rushing to it. I smiled as I saw the caller ID. Just who I needed to talk to at this moment of crisis.
“Anna!” I gushed into the phone.
She chuckled. “What is this all about? Are you that happy to hear from me?”
“Of course, I missed you.” I replied and feeling a bit guilty that I was lying to my friend. I missed her but not as much as I was pretending to be. I was only acting this way because I needed someone to talk to.
“I missed you too, friend.” She smiled. “How have you been?”
Getting myself in trouble. “Bored. It’s nice to hear from you.”
Anna launched into tales of what she had been up to which was what I wanted her to do when I had said that I was bored. I knew that she would start talking and I had hoped that she would say enough to get my mind off the crisis that was going on in my mind. It worked. By the time we ended the call, I was calmer than I had been when I had rushed out of Quinn’s room.
“I am glad you called, Anna.”
“Me too. I can’t wait to see you again. Hopefully, I would see you when I come home for Christmas.”
“Hopefully.” I said and clicked off the call.
I went for a shower and stepped out of the bathroom to see Jack in my room. I stopped dead in my tracks, noting how his eyes widened at the sight of me in a towel, my skin laced with water.
His eyes flashed with lust and his nostrils flared up. I swallowed, feeling nervous in my own skin. I should have locked the door the moment I entered the room.
The peace I had gotten from the call with Anna had flown out the window and I was left shuddering, with my confidence in shambles.
“What are you doing here?” I squeaked out.
“The door was unlocked.” He said, looking back at the door.
“Unlocked not open. That I didn’t lock it doesn’t mean that I threw in an invite for you.” I scoffed.
“That was as good an invite for me.” He chuckled. “You should have known that I would be here after what seeing you in Quinn’s room and what I heard from the two of you.”
“You really need to stop coming to my room as you please. It’s my room and not ours.”
He chuckled, not bothered about the anger in my voice. He was just too carefree. “Very soon, Mia. Your room would be our room.”
“Stop being ridiculous.” I hissed at him.
“Stop playing hard to get.” He said and moved closer to me.
I whimpered, my eyes going round in horror as he got close. “What are you doing?”
“Getting a goodnight kiss from my future mate.”
“You can’t be serious.” I hissed at him, moving away as I held on tightly to the towel.
“Do I look like I am joking?”
“Jack, get out.”
“Did you tell Quinn that before he kissed you?”
I winced at the reminder of the night I didn’t want to think of. “That was a mistake. He gave me no choice.”
“Yet you kissed him back. I remembered I gave you no choice then as well but you didn’t kiss me back.”
I sighed. He was being impossible. “It was a mistake, Jack.” I shouted at him and winced.
I hoped that I hadn’t been too loud for everyone in the house to hear. It would be uncomfortable for everyone to know that Jack was in my room this late. It was only pure luck that no one had seen me leave Quinn’s room earlier.
“Please leave.” I whispered, my voice defeated.
“Kiss me.” He ordered.
“Are you crazy?” I arched my eyebrows at him.
“Kiss me the way you kissed Quinn. I don’t mind if you say it’s a mistake afterwards.”
“You are crazy.” I rolled my eyes at him. “Get out.”
He sulked, looking down at his feet. His eyes were filled with pain when he raised them up to look at me. “Is it Quinn you like?”
“Jack, this is not about that.”
He chuckled. “You can’t even answer. You like him.”
“I don’t.” I denied.
“Whatever.” He dismissed my denial. “I have to remind you though that we are all one. You can’t like one without being with the others. A mate for one of us is a mate for all of us.”
“You are ridiculous.” I snapped at him.
“I think you are more ridiculous for not knowing how you feel.” He snapped back at me.
I didn’t have strength to argue. I had had a long night and it felt like I hadn’t had dinner at all.
“Please leave.” I begged him.
This time, he listened and I was glad to see him go. I rushed to the door immediately he was out and locked it. It wasn’t until I heard the snap of the lock that I felt at ease and moved to the bed, knowing that I wasn’t ever going to sleep.
Thank goodness that the next day was Sunday. Time for me to leave the house and go back to work. I couldn’t deny that the previous day had drained me. There was no how I could avoid mum not noticing how tired I looked.
I was quiet during breakfast and left as fast as I could, giving them the excuse that I needed to go and pack my loads. They didn’t need to know that I had already arranged everything when I couldn’t sleep at night.
I made my way to my bedroom and picked a book to while away the time as I waited for noon. Mum would find me suspicious if I told her that I wanted to leave this morning so I was going to be patient for her sake and wait till noon. Immediately after lunch, I was leaving and didn’t think that I would be back anytime soon.
Mum would have to find ways to cope if she missed me. Thankfully, I didn’t have to feel guilty about being far away from her because I knew she had Albert by her side.
I couldn’t stay in this house anymore. I was terrified of what Jack had told me last night. I knew I was being a coward all over but I needed to avoid them. I didn’t think I could share the same space with my brothers anymore. That wasn’t because I didn’t trust myself around them, I wasn’t going to kiss them again, any one of them. That night was a weakness I was determined to not let it repeat itself.
I needed to avoid them because I was scared of the expectations they had of me. I couldn’t believe they thought that I was going to be down with being with the three of them. What sort of a woman get mated to three biological brothers? She had to be a crazy one. It was scary that they thought I was crazy enough to be that woman.
The brothers who were comfortable with having just one mate were also crazy. I didn’t need to think too far before knowing that the boys were crazy or they wouldn’t have had that ridiculous idea in their heads.
How did they even agree to that? Were they thinking at all? That was barbaric. That they were wolves who were more comfortable with living inside a cave than a house didn’t mean that they had to be primitive.
I shuddered in fear. Being with one werewolf alone was a scary thought and I was expected to be with three at the same time. Damn, that was a whole lot of crazy.
Luna? I didn’t even think I wanted that power. I didn’t give a damn about what it was and it would be best for them to look elsewhere for the crazy girl who would agree to be with the three of them.
I checked the time and sighed. Why was it always slow when you needed the time to run?
