Mia
“What are you doing?” I hissed at him as I broke free from his hold.
“What does it look like to you?” He replied with that cool tone that used to sound intimidating to me. At the moment, I was too annoyed to bother with his cold attitude.
Gerald looked from me to him, wondering what was going on. He looked lost and confused and I felt bad about putting him in this spot. He might not talk to me at work after tonight and that hurt. He was meant to be my distraction but Quinn had just ruined that for me. Quinn was going to leave tonight and ruined my chances of being with someone who was going to stay to solve my dilemma.
That alone, asides from his sudden appearance and rude attitude, was enough to get me mad at him.
“Can someone please tell me what is going on or make some introductions?” Gerald asked. “Did you go out with me with a boyfriend waiting for you at home, Mia?”
I winced at the accusation in his words and felt ashamed even though I didn’t do what he thought I did. I couldn’t blame him for jumping to that conclusion. With how Quinn behaved, it was easy to believe that we were dating. I cringed at the thought of that.
“No, he isn’t my boyfriend.”
“Isn’t that what it looks like?”
Quinn and I spoke at the same time and I let out a shocked gasp as I thought of what he had said. What? No, he couldn’t be serious.
“Don’t mind him. He is my brother.” I told Gerald, rushing out my words before he got the wrong idea about me. I didn’t want to be seen as a slut.
Gerald didn’t seem to believe him. He swallowed and nodded. “Goodnight then.” He said and left me alone with Quinn.
I wished I had somewhere else to stay so I could bid Quinn goodnight and leave him where he was but I had moved away from the dorm and came back home. I didn’t want anything that would remind me of Sasha and the role I had played in letting the dark wizard out.
“Why are you here, Quinn?” I sighed the moment we were alone.
“To see you.”
I scoffed. “This late? Did you check the time before coming?”
He snorted. “I’ve been here for hours, waiting for you to come back. Do you now understand how angry I was that you were on a date?”
I hissed. “Why couldn’t I be on a date? You never told me that you would be coming to visit.”
“Would you have come home if I had told you that I would be visiting you tonight?”
“It’s not like I had anywhere else to go.”
“You could have gone to that guy’s place.” He sounded angry as he spoke.
“Now that you mentioned it, it doesn’t seem like a bad idea.”
He growled. “Don’t you dare!”
“Don’t you dare tell me what to do, Quinn.” I hissed back at him.
“How many times do I have to tell you that you are mine?” He hissed at me, his eyes flashing red. He ran his hand through his hair and blew out an exasperated breath. “Going on dates with other guys is a waste of your time. Don’t you get it yet?”
“What is your problem, Quinn?” I asked, ignoring his confession or whatever that was. “You were grumpy at home and acted like you never wanted to see me at all. Now, you are here acting like an overly possessive boyfriend and chasing off the men I might be interested in.”
He growled and pulled me close to him. I gasped as my breasts slammed against his hard chest. He curled his hand around my waist and slammed his lips on mine in a rough, hard, fiery kiss before I could think of what was going on.
Oh my! I had thought Jack could kiss but Quinn was also not a learner. His kiss was brutal and demanding, just like his personality but I loved it as well. He teased my mouth open, running his tongue lightly over my teeth and I was shocked when I opened up to him and started kissing him back. I molded closer to him and ran my hand through his hair.
Damn, I wanted more of this. I craved more. My whole body felt on fire and a new passion had been awakened in me. I couldn’t understand why my body only reacted to my brothers.
Brothers? At the thought of that, I stopped cold and felt ashamed of myself. What was I doing? Kissing Quinn was the last thing I was meant to do even if I had a gun pressed to my head. Kissing Quinn was a mistake.
“What was that for?” I hated how shaky my voice was. I had just betrayed to him that I felt shaken by the kiss.
He grinned and looked gorgeous. I shook my head. I shouldn’t think of how the smile made him more appealing. I should think of how rude he had been by kissing me suddenly. I stomped hard on the thought that I had enjoyed the kiss.
“That was the only way to get you to stop talking.”
“You could have just told me to keep quiet.”
He snorted. “Why would I do that when the kiss was a better option? Moreover, you didn’t seem to hate it.”
I groaned. I was in for trouble. He wasn’t going to stop teasing me about this. Not anytime soon.
“I didn’t like it.”
He scoffed at my lie. “Your lips said something else when it was fixed to mine.”
It was no use talking to him. I had made his night while I had ruined mine. “Good night, Quinn.” I said and stormed off in anger to the house.
He didn’t follow me but I could feel his eyes on me till I got in and locked the door.
I groaned as I leaned against the door and slumped to the floor. What have I done to myself? I couldn’t stop thinking of the kiss no matter how hard I tried to push it away from my mind. The only good thing about it was that I was busy thinking about the kiss that I didn’t have time to worry about my fears.
I got to work the following day with a heavy dose of make-up as I couldn’t sleep at all all through the night.
I met Gerald at the gate and winced at my luck. “Good morning.”
“Good morning.” He stared at me and then blurted out the question on his mind.
It was obvious he had thought of it all night, just like I had thought of the kiss. Oh! Stop it already, Mia. I rebuked myself.
“Are you sure he is your brother?”
“Yes.” I sighed. I knew he didn’t believe me.
“I see you met Mia’s overprotective brother.” Sammy said as he walked past us.
We both turned to look at him. He shrugged. “I overheard and couldn’t help butting in. I hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all.” I smiled at Sammy. He had saved my reputation.
“You know him?” Gerald asked.
“Yes. She has three brothers and they are very protective of her. You would always think that they are her boyfriend if you meet them individually with the way they behave but they are not.”
“Oh! I’m relieved.” Gerald breathed.
Sammy smiled. “I know how you feel. I was intimidated when I saw them too.”
Sammy was defending me so hard that it brought tears to my eyes. I wondered how he would react if he found out that I kissed my supposed brother last night. I exhaled, feeling tired even though it was morning.
I was a mess.
