Mia
The cat sat on the window sill and mewed, his black eyes shining as it stared at me. I shivered, holding on to myself with my arms as the cold dealt with me. I was cold and yet it felt like I was hot. It was hot. It was strange and I couldn’t deal with it.
I cursed at myself, wondering why I had chosen to wear the gown I had on. I had on one of the strapless gowns that the triplets had bought for me that I couldn’t have rejected because they had given me in the presence of my mum.
I scoffed, telling myself that I was being silly. I couldn’t have worn that gown even if I had a gun to my head. Asides the gown that mum had forced me to wear then when the triplets had invited me to a party, I didn’t think I had ever worn any of the other gowns. I had packed it somewhere so I wouldn’t even be tempted to wear them.
I wouldn’t have worn a gown as light as this when I knew that I would be coming to a place as light as this. I didn’t even bring a coat with me. What was I thinking?
I frowned as I looked around at where I was. I didn’t know the place. I searched my memory and couldn’t remember how I had gotten there. I didn’t remember making plans to be here. That explained why I had this ridiculous gown on when I knew that I was coming here.
Someone must have brought me here and that realization sent fear to my heart. It started pounding and I felt chills running through me. I looked at where I had found the cat but I didn’t find it alone. I found it with three others and they were all looking at me as if they would like to have me for breakfast. I was scared. What time was it again? I didn’t even know.
Where was I? I had no idea. It looked like where we lived but it wasn’t. The building looked the same but the atmosphere was different. This place had a fog around it.
I didn’t feel comfortable with the way the cats were staring at me and so I left, wandering around without an idea of where I was going. I only knew that I had to move away from where I was.
As I moved, the cats moved with me, their eyes moving with me as their legs took the same pace that I did. I noticed that they stopped when I did and moved when I did. That was creepy and I started to run, eager to move far away from where they were. They started running with me and I gasped for breath as I quickened my pace.
“Quinn.” I shouted as I ran.
I couldn’t believe that I was shouting his name. He had saved me before. I hoped that he was going to save me now again.
“John. Jack.”
I started to shout the names of the triplets as I ran. Anyone of them who showed up was fine. I knew that the others wouldn’t be far behind if I could get just one of them.
“Quinn,” I called again.
I stopped running ass and went still. Something was odd. It felt like the trees were laughing at me. That wasn’t possible. I could hear laughter in the air and knew that I wasn’t alone.
Were the triplets making a prank on me? I couldn’t remember getting here but I knew how naughty those boys were. They could have gotten me drunk and brought me here to tease me.
The only problem with my theory was that I didn’t remember taking a drink at all but I didn’t want to let go of my odd theory. I needed to hold on to that thought to console myself as I couldn’t come up with another explanation and that scared me like crazy.
“Quinn, are you there?” I yelled into the air. The laughter was still going on but I wasn’t going to let it distract me.
The laughter stilled. I could feel my heart getting relaxed and I heaved a sigh of relief. It was the boys and they must be coming out now because I had caught them.
“No, Quinn is not there but I am.”
I paused and my heart started beating again. I was wrong. It wasn’t the boys. That was a female voice but I didn’t know who it was. I couldn’t remember meeting someone that sounded as that.
I could hear footsteps and I waited, knowing I was soon going to know who my abductor was.
I gasped as I saw the female form that came out of the fog. Just the person I was waiting to see all along.
“Sasha,” I breathed, rushing to her side. “Why did you do it?”
She started laughing. “I’m not Sasha.”
“What do you mean?” I frowned.
She started to change right there before my eyes and I fell back at the transformation. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
It was the dark wizard.
“Why are you here?” I gasped, looking at the strange man before me.
He chuckled. “Forgotten so soon that I can change forms? Not so easily, my dear.”
I hissed. “I’m not your dear.”
He laughed, a loud annoying sound grating on my nerves. “You will find out soon enough what you are to me.”
He whisked his hand and before I knew what was happening, I moved to his side against my wish. He pulled me to him and I cringed, trying to get away from him.
His eyes were darkened with annoyance as he glanced at me. “Are you a lesbian? Would you have wanted me to be Sasha? You seemed so eager to see her then.”
I growled at him. “I wanted to ask her why she set you free, why she wasn’t what she showed herself to be.”
“Don’t you understand it yet?” He scoffed at me. “She set me free because I’m her master.”
“Well, go meet her. Leave me alone and go your way.” I needed to be out of where I was.
He started laughing, letting go of me. “You still don’t get it, dear. I can’t leave. This is my world. I brought you here.”
“You kidnapped me?” I gasped in shock.
No wonder I couldn’t remember anything. He must have drugged me. Were they already looking for me at home? I hoped my mum wasn’t crying already. She cried too easily.
“Sort of.” He chuckled. “You will find out soon enough, dear.” He said with a wink.
I hissed at him, earning myself more annoying chuckles. He really needed to stop with that annoying chuckling and also stop calling me dear.
“Why are you disturbing my family?”
“What do you care?” He snorted. “I thought you don’t like them.”
“Who I like or not is none of your business.”
“It is, dear. I need you to help me get the werewolves.”
I snorted. “As if I would be betraying my family.”
“Family? You call those perverts who like their stepsister family? You know you don’t think of them as family.”
I gasped at his words. How did he know that? I looked at the gown I had on and wondered how he had known the boys bought it for me. How did he know to pick this gown of all to drive his point?
Wait. Albert said he could manipulate minds. Did that mean he could also read minds? I blushed and hoped that wasn’t true. I would like to have my thoughts to myself. It wouldn’t make sense for someone to be poking around my head.
“Are you a lesbian? You don’t like your brothers even though you are not related by blood, you are not attracted to any of the guys at your workplace and you have never had a boyfriend as well.”
I breathed a sigh of relief as I held my hand to my chest. He couldn’t read minds. Sasha must have told him all she knew about me and that was what he was reacting to.
“That’s not your business, I insist.” I hissed at him.
“You will not be rude to me.” He growled, pulling me closer to him and pressing down hard on my finger with his claws.
I screamed, my head banging in pain as I felt as if my body was on fire from where he was holding on to me.
I awoke with a scream, grateful that it had all been a nightmare. I checked my hand where he had pressed me and breathed in relief when I saw that it wasn’t marked. Thank goodness that it was all a dream. I was too afraid that the nightmare was going to have an effect on me in reality. That was crazy. I couldn’t believe that he was going to play his dirty magic on me.
What a joke! He must be crazy from the long years of captivity. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have believed that I would be willing to betray the werewolves to him because he thought that I didn’t like them.
Because I didn’t act like I liked them, he thought I was a traitor. I hissed out loud even when I was alone in my room and the dark wizard wasn’t there. What did he think that I was?
I checked the time and saw that it was still too early. I decided to sleep back into bed and regretted ever doing so as I slipped into another nightmare.
