Chapter 147
Help is here.
Jane’s POV:
“What!” I exclaim silently as they asked to see Megan one on one.
Their eyes filled with a sincere pleadingness, their voice laced with urgency.
“Jane, we understand that you are wary, but we assure you, our intentions are pure.” They plead.
“We need to see Megan, to assess her condition and determine the best course of action.” They continue.
“But only those closest to her are allowed to see her, and we respect that. But please, we beg of you, let us see her. Every moment counts.” They went on.
I hesitated, my mind racing with doubts and fears.
But something about their words resonated deep within me. I wanted to believe that they could help Megan, that they could make her better.
With a heavy heart, I nodded my consent.
“Okay,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
“I will find a way to help!” I say.
“But you have to promise me one thing: you will do everything in your power to help her.” I ask.
The visitors face lit up with a warm smile, their eyes shining with gratitude.
“We promise, Jane. We’ll do everything possible to help Megan. Thank you for trusting us.”
“Uh, Jane one reason we want to help Megan to cure her hallucinations. Her system has been corrupted by a serum that will keep her hallucinating for years.” They reveal.
“But you can worry less, because we have gotten an antidote for that!” They say.
My eyes widened in shock as the visitor’s words hung in the air.
“An antidote?” I repeated, my voice laced with disbelief.
“You mean, you can actually stop her hallucinations?” I ask.
The visitor nodded solemnly.
“Yes, Jane. We have been working tirelessly to develop a counteragent to the mind control serum. And we are confident that it will work.” They tell me.
I felt a wave of hope wash over me, a sense of relief that I hadn’t felt in hours. “Oh, please,” I begged, my hands clasped together.
“You have to help her. You have to make her well again.” I say.
The visitors smiled sympathetically.
“We will, Jane. We’ll do everything in our power to save Megan. But we need to act fast. The longer she’s under their control, the harder it will be to reverse the effects.” They tell me.
I nodded fervently, my mind racing with the possibilities. An antidote. A chance to save Megan. I felt a sense of purpose, a sense of determination that I hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Let’s do it,” I said, my voice firm.
“Let’s save Megan!” I added.
Now, the next was how to get them into the hospital.
My mind raced with thoughts of how to sneak the visitors into the hospital to administer the antidote to Megan.
I knew it wouldn’t be easy, because the Syndicate had eyes and ears everywhere, and the hospital was likely to be heavily guarded.
But I was determined to try. I thought about disguising them as doctors or nurses, but that would require credentials and paperwork that we did not have time to fake.
I thought about sneaking them in through a side door or window, but the hospital’s security system was likely to be fumble.
As I pondered, the visitors watched me intently, their eyes filled with a mix of excitement and concern.
“We will figure something out,” I told them, trying to sound calmer than I felt.
“We just need to be careful and stay one step ahead of the Syndicate.” I thought.
Just then, an idea struck me.
“I know how we can get you into the hospital,” I said, a plan forming in my mind.
“But it’s risky, and we’ll need to move fast.” I say.
“We’ll pose as Megan’s long lost family members,” I explained, my mind racing with the details of the plan.
“We will dress the part, and I’ll coach you on her personal history and mannerisms. We’ll convince the hospital staff that we’re her estranged relatives, come to visit and support her in her time of need.” I make know.
The visitors nodded, their eyes lighting up with understanding.
“That is perfect,” one of them said.
“We will play the role of a concerned family, and no one will suspect a thing.” They echoed.
I nodded, feeling a sense of determination and hope.
“Let’s do this. Let’s get Megan the help she needs and get her out of the Syndicate’s clutches once and for all.”
With purpose, we set to work on our disguises and backstory, preparing to put on a convincing show for the hospital staff.
Our mission was clear… to save Megan and bring her home safe and sound.
The next morning, we put our plan into action.
The visitors, now disguised as Megan’s long-lost aunt and uncle, and I, dressed in a convincing outfit, made our way to the hospital. Our hearts raced with anticipation and a hint of fear.
As we entered the hospital, we were greeted by the familiar antiseptic smell and the soft hum of machinery. We made our way to Megan’s room, trying to appear confident and convincing.
At the door, I took a deep breath and pushed it open, and I was greeted by Doctor Lee.
She asks us to wait for some time and we did.
I watched as Megan lay in bed, her eyes vacant, her expression unchanged. My heart ached seeing her like this.
Immediately, she leaves the visitors, playing their roles perfectly, rushed to her side, cooing and fussing over her.
“Megan, sweetie, it’s us, your aunt and uncle! We’re here to take care of you!” They tell her.
“Megan, sweetie, it’s us! We’re here to take care of you,” they said in unison, their voices filled with warmth and conviction. They add.
I watched, holding my breath, as they administered the antidote, hoping against hope that it would work as I watched if no one was looking.
Then, they expertly administered the antidote, my heart racing with anticipation.
At first, nothing seemed to happen. But then, a flicker of recognition crossed Megan’s face, and her eyes began to clear.
“Megan, can you hear me?” I asked, my voice trembling with emotion.
She nodded slightly, her gaze locking onto mine. “Jane…?”
“Who are these people?” She asks me.
Tears of joy streaming down my face, I rushed to her side, embracing her tightly, ignoring all what she was saying.
“We’ve got you, Megan. You’re safe now.” I say.
The visitors smiled, their eyes shining with relief and happiness. We had done it. We had saved Megan from darkness.
