Ameer was dead, and so were his men.
On the scene, only Riya and Quentin remained.
Riya stared at Quentin, her eyes sparkling with admiration that she could no longer hide. This man had saved her once again, like a god descending from the heavens to preserve her last shred of dignity. Otherwise, if she had truly suffered such a fate, how could she face the world?
So, after Quentin saved her, she breathed a sigh of relief. Moreover, when Quentin was on his way, she had already made up her mind. If Quentin couldn’t survive this ordeal, she was willing to die with him rather than live in disgrace.
Now that Quentin’s true identity was revealed to her, she felt an innate admiration for such a hero. Her affection for Quentin had reached an overwhelming level.
Quentin slowly took off his jacket and walked over.
Riya’s face turned red as she realized she was only covered by a piece of cloth, her clothes torn to shreds. Hadn’t Quentin seen everything? However, she didn’t feel disgusted, just extremely shy, like an innocent young girl.
Her cheeks flushed with a rosy hue.
“Riya, put this on,” Quentin said as he draped his jacket over her. “Don’t catch a cold.”
Riya quickly put on the jacket and nodded repeatedly. “Thank you, Quentin! If it weren’t for you today… I… I would have…”
Quentin interrupted, “Riya, I had a part in this too. Now that you’re in trouble, running away isn’t something a man should do. I had to step up. So let’s not talk about gratitude; it’s too formal.”
Hearing his words, Riya nodded. “Alright!”
She zipped up the jacket, covering herself tightly. However, the jacket wasn’t very long, so while her upper body was well-covered, her long, slender legs remained exposed, flawless like sculpted jade, making one’s mouth dry.
Especially in this situation, it added a touch of romantic tension.
Quentin glanced at her legs and quickly looked away, not daring to stare.
After all, it was too disrespectful.
Riya giggled and teased, “What are you afraid of? You’ve already seen everything. Want to take another good look?”
Quentin smiled wryly. “Riya, stop teasing me. That was an act of desperation.”
“Just kidding,” Riya said, smoothly changing the subject. “Testing your loyalty to Charlotte. You passed.”
Sighing, Riya added, “Honest men are hard to find these days!”
Quentin laughed. “Honesty is one thing; resisting temptation is another.”
“Some people are honest because they don’t have the means to indulge.”
“Others have high moral standards and can resist temptation even after seeing the world.”
Quentin sighed softly. “Charlotte has suffered so much over the past five years for Theo and Janessa. It’s been incredibly hard for her.”
“If I were out fooling around, how could I face the hardships and sacrifices she’s endured?”
Hearing Quentin’s reflection, Riya asked, “Do you love her? I heard you didn’t have much of an emotional foundation at the start.”
Quentin replied, “At first, it was just pity. A woman bore children for you and suffered so much because of you. Any man with a conscience wouldn’t be indifferent.”
“Later on… feelings develop gradually. There’s no such thing as perfect compatibility from the start.”
A gentle smile appeared on Quentin’s lips.
Riya nodded slightly, feeling even more envious of Charlotte in her heart.
Meeting such a man was truly Charlotte’s luck and the well-deserved happiness after all her hardships!
