Alpha Ricardo’s POV
Two weeks later.
”Just go straight to the point,” I urged Doctor Stephen, waiting to hear the worst from him. ”She needs to be treated spiritually,” he announced, getting me confused. ”We did a check-up on her and realized she was no longer in a coma but unconscious, which means she doesn’t need a support machine. We took the machine off her, and she was still alive,” he explained while I remained quiet, waiting for him to finish. ”I think you should use another approach, Alpha, perhaps get a healer, and see if this time it would work,” He suggested, while I remained silent for a moment before getting on my feet.
”I will be back,” I said and teleported away. Within a few seconds, I arrived in Ability’s sitting room, but didn’t find him. ”Where are you?” I asked through mind link and got a response. ”Greetings, Alpha, I went out to get something, but I’m on my way home.” He said, ”How long will it take you to get home?” I asked, ”Five minutes.” He responded. ”Very well, I’ll wait for you,” I said, and roomed around his living room while pondering in thoughts. It had been two weeks, and there had been no response from Mia. The only improvement in her condition was the news that Doctor Stephen had just given me. I was excited, but also scared. She was out of a coma but remained unconscious, which was a bad sign. During the past two weeks, I have been a shadow of myself. It felt like I was gradually losing myself, but I realized I had to stay strong for Mia.
A few minutes later, Ability walked in with some shopping bags in his hands. ”I apologize for keeping you waiting.” He apologized while I nodded and said, ”I need you to come with me to the hospital.” ” Alright, give me a minute, Alpha.” He went over to the table and dropped the shopping bags. ”I’m ready.”
I held his arm, and we teleported. We arrived at Doctor Stephen’s office, and without being told, he led us out of his office. We arrived at Mia’s room and met a nurse and Aunt Cara in the room. They lowered their heads respectfully to me, while I nodded and moved over to Mia’s side. With my heart clenching in pain, I took her left hand in mine and kissed it before glancing at her peaceful, sleeping face.
It tore my heart to see her in such a state. I so much wished for my annoying and talkative Mia. I want her to shout and yell at me. I want her to tell me how much she hates me, but I don’t want her to be so silent and cold.
”Let me look at her,” Ability requested while standing beside her. With a gulp, I let go of her hand and stood away, allowing Ability to use his abilities on her. I watched him close his eyes and place his hands on her head. His eyes remained shut until he opened them and stared at me before looking back at Mia.
”What is it?” I asked as I took her hand in mine.
”There is no need for her to be here,” He announced, stepping away. ”What do you mean?” I asked in panic, hoping it was not what I was thinking. She can’t be dead.
”Her care is more spiritual than medical. The doctors won’t be able to do anything if she stays here.” He spoke, getting me confused, ”She is supposed to be awake, but an internal force is preventing her from being awake,” he explained, causing a heavy sigh to leave my lips. ”So what do we do?” I asked, staring at Mia.
”She should be taken back home. She should be in a familiar place and with familiar people. That will help in her recovery,” he explained while I gulped and placed kisses on her forehead. ”You will be fine,” I mumbled, hoping she would hear me.
Everyone remained silent, waiting for me to speak. I stared at Mia for a moment before nodding, permitting Doctor Stephen to discharge her. ”She will be given personal nurses if any medical condition arises,” Doctor Stephen said, while I nodded and stared at her one more time before holding Ability’s wrist.
I teleported him back to his living room, and before I left, he said, ”She doesn’t want to wake up. You have to speak to her every day. Hopefully, she hears. “Every day, give her a reason she should wake up,” He muttered while I nodded and teleported.
I arrived at the mansion and met Lady Golden in the sitting room, having a glass of wine. ”You are back,” she said while getting on her feet.
Lady Golden has been corny, but I haven’t thought of a way to deal with her yet. Mia’s medical condition has taken a toll on me, and I was hardly in the mansion.
”You are still here.” I groaned and saw a victorious grin on her face, ”Don’t taste my patience; you don’t know what I’m capable of doing.” I warned and saw her roll her eyes before responding, ”I’m here to stay, and you have just three more weeks to get married to me unless you want me to tell the council of elders how you took my innocence and refused to marry me.” She threatened, while I scoffed and shook my head.
She underestimated me, and I think it’s time I showed her who she was dealing with.
I ignored her and teleported to my room. With a groan, I made a mind link and got a response. ”I think it’s time,” I said through mind link, ”Roger that, Alpha.” He responded, and I ended the mind link.
With a heavy sigh, I walked to the bar and took out a bottle of whiskey and a glass. I filled up the glass and took a sip. I sat back on the sofa and closed my eyes. My mind was filled with regrets, and I wished I could turn back the hands of time. If only I could do that, then I wouldn’t have treated Mia the way I did. I would have shown her nothing but love, and perhaps we would have been living happily together.
With a tired sigh, I stood at my feet and walked to my bedside, where a frame of hers was placed. For the past few weeks, I have had difficulty sleeping, and it’s only this photo of her that comforts me. I spoke and cried to the picture like I was talking to her. With shaking hands, I picked up the frame and stared at it with a bitter smile. In the frame was a picture she took two years ago during her graduation. Despite the pain I made her go through, she still had a beautiful smile on her face, hiding her pain from the world.
” hope you can forgive me and come back to me,” I whispered and kissed the frame before dropping it.
”We are on our way,” Doctor Stephen communicated through telepathy.
I made a mind link to the butler. ”Get my other room prepared, Mia would stay there,” I said and closed the mind link.
Within an hour, the ambulance drove into the mansion while I stood on the balcony and watched Mia being brought out of it on a stretcher. The sight of it broke my heart into pieces, but I composed myself and watched them take her inside the house while I waited for them in the room.
Within a few minutes, they entered the room and laid Mia on the bed. Her hair was no longer let loose on her shoulders, but it was covered with a bandage. Her eyes and lips were tightly shut, and it felt like she was just asleep.
With heavy feet, I walked to her side of the bed and kneeled beside her. I took her left hand in my hands and felt the warmth of her body.
What Ability said was true. She was indeed alive, but had chosen not to wake up.
”Mia!” I called in a whisper, holding myself back from breaking down. ”Please come back to me,” I pleaded, ”You are the most important person in my life, and I can’t bear to lose you. Please come back to me,” I pleaded and buried my face in her chest while I sobbed silently.
Mia’s POV
”Wake up, you lazy thing.” I heard a female voice from afar, forcing my eyes to open.
When I opened my eyes, I recognized it was the head maid, standing over me with an unwelcoming look. ”You have just an hour to get ready and join the others downstairs.” She ordered before leaving the room, leaving me feeling perplexed and disoriented, wondering why she would speak to me in such a manner.
As I scanned the room, I realized I was in a strange room with four bunk beds. The tiles beneath my feet were cool, and the white-painted ceiling above me looked unfamiliar. I gazed out of the small window on my right, and the morning sun beamed through, providing a warm embrace. It was then that I noticed that something was off.
”Where am I?” I asked with furrowed eyebrows as I left the bed. The moment I got out of bed, I felt something strange and couldn’t pick it up.
Quickly, I went to the window, looked outside it and realized I was in the mansion, which meant this was a room in the mansion. But why would I be in such a room?
The wind picked up, blowing my hair into my face. As I moved to brush it aside, I noticed that my hair was no longer blonde, but black. My heart raced, and my palms grew sweaty as I tried to comprehend what was happening. “What’s going on?” I stuttered, taking a step back.
My eyes fell on a mirror, and I dashed over to it, desperate to see my reflection. As I stood before it, my breath hitched in my chest at the sight before me. It was me, but not the me that I knew.
