Mia’s POV
I did not know how long I’d been on the bed before hearing a knock on the door. ”The door is open.” I grumbled.
The door opened, and aunt Cara walked in with a big smile on her face. ”You are back?” She asked, confused. ”Yeah, something came up, aunt.” I murmured and sat on the bed. ”Are you okay?” She inquired worried. ”Yeah, I’m fine.” I assured her and left the bed. ”Happy birthday, my dear, I never knew you were coming back.” She said while I gave her a tight hug and moved away. ”Thanks Aunt.” I mumbled with a weak smile.
I knew aunt Cara wanted to say something, but she held it and flickered a comforting smile. ”Get dressed, visitors will be here soon.” She said while I smiled and walked to my closet.
I opened my closet and noticed only few clothes were hung, and it’s been two years since I put them on. ”I need to get my things.” I murmured and closed the closet.
Slowly, I made my way to the bathroom, took off my clothes and stood in the cold shower. With a heavy sigh, I scrubbed my body and tried communicating with my wolf, but she was silent.
After taking my bath, I wrapped a towel around my chest and walked back into the room. Left with no choice, I opened my closet and took out a black fitted jumpsuit and threw it on the bed. I walked to my dressing mirror, put on the hair dryer, sat behind my table and began drying my hair with the dryer.
I was still drying my hair when I heard Rachel’s voice through telepathy. ”Happy birthday Mia.” She spoke happily, bringing a tiny smile to my face. ”I have been trying to reach you, but your number wasn’t going through.” She complained while I heaved a heavy sigh and said, ”I’m back in California, as a matter of fact, I’m in the mansion.” I announced and got a shock gasp from her. ”How?, When?” She asked confused.
”I’ll explain everything to you when we meet at my father’s memorial.” I convinced her and she accepted. ”fine, I’ll see you there.” She said and closed the mind link.
I packed my hair in a bun, did light makeup and got dressed in the black jumpsuit. Luckily for me, I had a set of black boots on my shoe rack.
To confirm if I was set, I stood before my mirror and stared at myself. Indeed, I have become a shadow of myself. I’ve lost a lot of weight and my sea blue eyes look dull and out of life.
With a sigh, I left the mirror and walked out of my room. I took the stairs down to the sitting room and realized a few guests had already arrived. Some were guests I could recognize, while others were guests, I couldn’t recognize.
”Lady Mia.” I heard a familiar voice behind me and, without being told, I knew it was Simeon. With a frown, I turned and held his gaze. ”You are finally back.” He said with a blank look on his face, but I knew he was really mad at me for the show I put up at the airport.
”Greetings.” I said with a fake smile, ”I believe alpha Ricardo was the one who brought you back?” He asked, while I just nodded my head and said, ”Let’s talk later, I have guests to attend to.” I made an excuse and quickly Left.
I took a glass of wine from the server, gulped it all into my mouth and collected another glass. The plan was to get drunk and cause havoc, and I hoped I would be able to do it. Just when I was about to take another sip of my drink, I saw alpha Ricardo walking down the stairs with the lady beside him. They both held each other’s arms while the young lady had a big smile on her face like she had just won a lottery. Seeing them together, I realized they hadn’t separated and the thought of that tore my heart into pieces, forcing me to gulp all the drink into my mouth. With heart clenching with pain, I watched them arrive at the sitting room and began exchanging greetings with guests. She was greeted with so much respect, which made me wonder who her father really was. The moment she walked into the sitting room, everyone recognized her, unlike me, whom no one was interested in. ”Lucky you.” I cursed and took another glass from the tray of drinks.
”Don’t you think you’ve had enough?” Quickly, I turned and was shocked to see alpha Joshua wearing a smiling face. ”You didn’t tell me you were coming back.” He said, and without waiting for my response, he gave me a tight hug. ”I missed you so much.” He mumbled in my left ear and let go of me. ”You refused letting me know where you leave, neither did you let me come visit.” He grumbled with a frown, while I just smiled weakly but didn’t say a word.
During the past two years, Alpha Joshua and I had been communicating, but I refused to tell him my whereabouts because I didn’t want him to have issues with alpha Ricardo.
”You’ve lost a lot of weight.” He said while moving a quick glare at me. ”I did countless workouts.” I lied, ”Terrible liar.” He scoffed, while I just looked away and saw alpha Ricardo stood at the center of the sitting room. ”Attention everyone.” He said, getting everyone’s attention. ”I really appreciate you all coming to my father memorial despite your busy schedules, I thank you for paying such respect to my father, late alpha Luciano of blessed Memories. Today I’m going to mount a statue to remember him. He was a great father and an alpha…” He paused and moved his gaze around, probably searching for something, until his gaze fell on me. Instantly, I looked away in panic and heard him continue speaking until he said a word which got my attention. ”I have another big announcement to make…” He paused for a second before he continues. ” I and Lady Cassandra are getting engaged.” He announced to everyone and loud claps emerged from the crowd, while I just stood there numb. ”I’m pregnant, we are expecting a baby!” She blurted out happily and got more claps from everyone. ”No!” My silent wolf howled in pain. I saw alpha Ricardo whispered something into her ear which I couldn’t hear while the crowd kept cheering at them. ” Are you okay?” Alpha Joshua asked and I slowly shook my head. I couldn’t tell why I was in pain, he is my half brother, so definitely a day like this would come.
”Come with me.” Alpha Joshua held my arms and led me out of the sitting room.
We stepped out of the sitting room and saw a statue of my father waiting to be unveiled. With tears filled eyes, I stared at the statue and all the memories I had with him kept flashing in my head. ”Come with me.” Alpha Joshua said and led me to the gate.
When we got to the gate, the security men did not even say a word of objection, rather they lowered their heads in respect and let us out.
The moment we left the mansion, I released a breath I never knew I was holding. ”I left my car inside, so let’s take a walk.” He suggested, while I agreed with a nod.
We walked side by side each other while none of us said a word for almost five minutes until I decided to speak. ”Thanks.” I whispered to his hearing. ”Why didn’t you tell me he was your mate.” He said, getting me stunned. ”How did you know?” I asked dumbfounded. ”It doesn’t matter how I knew about it.” He said and inhaled deeply. ”Regardless of anything, he shouldn’t treat you this way, for goddess’s sake you are his mate, the moon goddess is never wrong…” He tried speaking, but I cut him off. ”The moon goddess is wrong.” I spoke bitterly. ”All through my life she has been unfair and wrong to me. Firstly, she took both my parents on my birthday, which was supposed to be one of my happiest days. Secondly, she gave me a mate who hates me and only wants revenge for the death of his mother.” I spoke bitterly and let the tears flow freely in my cheeks.
Quickly, Alpha Joshua pulled me into a tight hug and caressed my hair while I cried loudly on his chest. All the tears I held for the past two years, I let them out, not minding I was in the arms of alpha Joshua.
I cried my heart out for over few minutes and tiredly pulled away. Gently, Alpha Joshua wiped my cheek with the tips of his fingers, and placed a kiss on my forehead before staring directly into my eyes. ”Marry me.” He said with no form of mischief in his voice.
”Wha…” I tried speaking, but he cut me off, ”Please Mia, it is unclear to me why I really want to help you, but just get married to me and leave this hell.” He pleaded while trying to take my hand, but I took a step backward in fear. ”I have to go.” I spoke in panic and quickly made my way to the mansion. Gladly, he did not come after me.
Alpha Ricardo’s POV
We all stood and watched dad’s statue being unveiled. Indeed, the sculptor did a fantastic job on the statue. The statue was in a vertical form and was ten feet tall from the ground. With a weak smile, I stared at it before moving my gaze away.
”Congratulations Alpha Ricardo.” Alpha Elliot congratulated with a handshake. ”Thanks.” I said and walked inside the sitting room where I met Cassandra with her father, Lycan Anthony. ”Alpha Ricardo.” He said while walking up to me. ”Congratulations to you and my daughter, you guys will be a parent and I will be a grandfather.” He spoke happily while I smiled weakly and gave him a handshake.
”Your wedding will be the talk of the town, I’ll make sure of it.” He spoke proudly, while I just nodded my head and held Cassandra’s gaze. ”I want to have a word with your daughter.” I said, excusing myself from his presence. ”We need to have to talk.” I told Casey and held her arm. We appeared in my room, and quickly let go of her. ”I made it clear that this pregnancy should be kept a secret until I’m ready to reveal it.” I spoke Angrily. ”But what was the need of keeping it a secret.” She spoke in a murmur which made me groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. ”I only got to know you were pregnant a few hours ago, don’t you think you should have at least waited.” I spoke Angrily and kicked a stool away. ”But we are getting married, right? And definitely the world will know of my pregnancy. I see no need to hide it, or else you want to avoid taking responsibility for this child.” She spoke annoyingly, which made me more furious.
After the incident with Mia, I went back to meet Cassandra, so we could just break up, but when I got to the room I found her crying bitterly, but I didn’t care because I was used to it. I told her we needed to break up, but she broke the news of her pregnancy to me.
She told me she was few weeks pregnant but would leave and abort the baby if I don’t want it. Her words weakened my bones, and I couldn’t say or do a thing. She told me I have to send Mia away and that was when I told her Mia wasn’t a girlfriend, rather she was my half sister.
”Alpha Ricardo!” She called out to me, forcing me out of my thoughts. With a sigh, I moved my gaze back to her. ”You know we have to get married. The sooner, the better, I don’t want my child to be brought to this world out of wedlock.” She murmured, while I groaned and teleported away.
I found myself in my private room and angrily punched the wall. This was never my plan, how was I so reckless to have gotten her pregnant. ”Shit!” I groaned and went straight to the bar, took out a bottle of whiskey and a glass cup. With weak feet, I sat on the bed pondering with thoughts. She was carrying my child and there was nothing I could do about it.
With a sigh, I filled up my cup and was about to take a sip of my drink when I heard a loud cry from Cassandra.
Quickly, I teleported and appeared in my room Only to see Cassandra on the floor whining in pain while Mia stood before her with panic in her eyes. ”I swear I did nothing.” She spoke in fear as we both stared at the blood rushing down Cassandra’s thighs.
