We got out of the plane and entered a car which was parked waiting for us. After a few minutes, drive, the driver stopped in front of a massive building. I could hear voices and low music playing and to worsen it all there were cameras, not just cameras, but cameras from radio stations and television channels.
With stunned eyes, I turned and stared at Alpha Joshua, who smiled back at me. ”Don’t get scared, we are putting on masks.” he muttered while signaling his driver to hand over a bag which was on the front seat. He took the bag from the driver, opened it and handed over a black mask to me which would cover just my eyes.
“Are you okay?” He asked when he saw me staring at the mask, ”You never told me it was a mask party.” I sighed in relief. ”Wanted to make it a surprise.” He smirked and took out a black mask from the bag.
We both wore our masks and stared at each other, ”I swear the men in that ball will wish to see your eyes.” He praised me while I scoffed and looked away, surely he was good with words.
“Are you ready?” he asked, while I responded with a nod. “Are you sure?” He asked, “Yeah, let’s go.” I assured him.
He gave me a grateful smile, got out of the car and walked to my door. Smiling widely at me, he opened the door for me and I went out of the car. The moment I got out of the car, I noticed cameras on us and I became scared and nervous.
“It’s okay, I’m here.” He smiled at me, interlocked our hands together and led me inside the hall while cameras were following us around until we got into the hall, and they all left waiting for the next guest to arrive.
I took a deep breath and relaxed myself when I discovered there were no more cameras following us.
“Are you okay?” He asked with concern.
“Yeah.” I smiled back at him, stared around the hall and noticed the caliber of people in the party were no ordinary people. With their clothes, you need not be told how rich these people were, and I was thankful to my Wolf for suggesting I get a dress.
”Just follow my lead.” He said, while I nodded my head and walked further into the hall. The lights were dimmed, but I could clearly see everyone. Just like alpha Joshua and me, everyone was putting on masks, except for the servers.
”Let’s go say Hi to Alpha Timothy.” He held my left hand and led me towards the direction of a group of masked men whose backs were turned to us. ”I’ll do the talking.” He assured me through telepathy as we made our way to the men.
”Greetings alpha Timothy and a happy birthday.” Alpha Joshua announced his presence to the three gentlemen, who turned to our direction. ”You made it Alpha Joshua, I thought you wouldn’t make it.” One of the masked men responded while having a handshake with alpha Joshua.
”I wouldn’t miss your birthday ball for anything.” He responded. ”Indeed!” The young man said and turned his attention to me. I saw him inhale deeply, slightly shut his eyes before opening them. ”You smell amazing.” He said while taking a step closer to me. A happy birthday to you, alpha Timothy.” I uttered nervously while avoiding his gaze. ”You are shy!” He chuckled, took my both hands and placed a kiss on each hand.
”You are beautiful. I don’t need you to take off your mask to confirm that.” He said with a smirk and let go of my hands. He moved his gaze back to Alpha Joshua and they both held each other’s gaze. They did not say a word, but I knew they communicated through telepathy.
”I will take my leave, please enjoy the rest of the party.” He smirked at me, and walked away with the two other men.
”He likes you.” Alpha Joshua said, the moment they left, while I scoffed in disbelief and rolled my eyes. ”He told you that, or you read through his mind?” I asked, while he sneered and led me to a table. He drew out a seat for me which I took and sat while he took out a seat and sat beside me. ”Are you comfortable?” He asked, ”Yeah, I’m so glad for this mask.” I whispered and took a glass of wine from the server.
I took a sip of my drink and was about to drop it on the table when I felt a familiar Aura around. Curious, I moved my gaze around, staring at every masked face, when suddenly my gaze fell on him.
Despite putting on a mask, I was able to recognize him. I mean, I have spent five years knowing this man.
I was a bit surprised to see him in a suit because alpha Ricardo was the type who hardly wears suits. He was always dressed in a pair of jeans, shirt, or jacket.
I ran a quick gaze on him and saw that he was dressed in a black charcoal tailor suit, which hugged his body, revealing his many figures. He wore a white mask which covered just his eyes, and as usual, he always stands out in the crowd, or it was just my eyes deceiving me.
He stood a few footsteps away from me with his two hands in his pockets. I noticed the furious look on his face, but the thing that scared me the most was the color of his eyes. They were darker and full of anger.
“Shit.” I murmured to myself and looked away.
”What’s wrong?” Alpha Joshua asked while I nervously licked my lips and took a sip of my drink. ”Calm down, he won’t bite you.” He assured me and moved his gaze around, searching for Alpha Ricardo.
Nervous, I touched my mask, hoping he wouldn’t recognize me, but who was I fooling? It was obvious he would perceive and recognize me just like I did.
”You are so scared of him.” Alpha Joshua said and took hold of my hand which was placed on the table. ”Take a deep breath, you ain’t doing anything wrong.” He assured me while I gulped and nodded my head.
Curious, I moved my gaze back to his direction, but realized he was no longer there. Curious, I searched for him with my eyes and found him talking to a masked lady. She has white skin tone just like mine, black curly hair which was packed in a bun. Unlike me, she wore a short black fitted dress which fitted her so perfectly, exposing her curves. They were chatting, and I could see big smiles on her face, which made me curious, wondering who she was and what they were discussing. ”Are you jealous?” My wolf asked, while I scoffed and looked away.
”Her name is Linda, she is alpha timothy younger sister.” Alpha Joshua disclosed, obviously he read my thoughts. ”Stop doing that.” I grumbled and took a sip of my drink.
”Act like he isn’t here.” My wolf advised, which I agreed to.
A few minutes later, Alpha Timothy stood at the center of the hall, made some speech thanking everyone for coming and how happy he was turning twenty-five.
He cut his cake, and we all stood to our feet and made some toast. After the toasts, it was supposed to be a presentation of gifts to the celebrants, but I noticed no one was giving out gifts, which made me curious and asked, ”Is there no presentation of gifts?” I asked, ”No, my dear.” He responded while I furrowed my eyebrows confused. ”Alpha Timothy almost died four years ago. A gift given to him was poisoned and to worse it all was a wristwatch. The minute he put it on, he fell down and collapsed, but luckily, his healer was able to recover him. The giver of the gift was caught, but alpha Timothy decided he would never take gifts on his birthday. Hence, he told no one to come with gifts.” Alpha Joshua explained.
”Woah!” I shook my head and took another sip of my drink. So many things were happening, and I was just locked up in my room.
Cool slow classical music began playing, which implied it was time to dance. Curious, I moved my gaze around and saw masked gentlemen and ladies standing at their feet while holding each other’s hands. They walked to the center of the hall and began dancing slowly to the music playing.
”Can I have this dance?” Alpha Joshua asked while his hand was stretched out to me. ”I’m not a good dancer, I don’t wanna embarrass myself.” I objected politely, but he wouldn’t take it. ”You can learn in a day, and I’m a pretty good dancer, I’ll teach you.” He persuaded me, while I smiled shyly and placed my hand on his. ”Thank you.” He beamed at me and took hold of my hand.
We both stood to our feet, left the table, and made our way to the dancing floor. ”Ease yourself and follow my lead.” He whispered into my ear and wrapped his left hand around the back of my waist. His touch made my body shiver because it was weird to be touched by a man. Apparently, he was the first man getting this close to me and all these were still new. ”Relax!” He communicated through mind link while I inhaled deeply.
”Place your right hand on my left shoulder.” He gestured, which I obeyed. He raised my left hand and interlocked it in his right hand. ”We will go slow and steady.” He said, while I scoffed and rolled my eyes. ”So you were lying. You do know how to dance.” He said, while I smiled and nodded my head.
I wasn’t a perfect dancer, but I knew the steps to this dance because mom taught me when she was still alive.
Alpha Joshua flickered a big smile and took the first steps, which I followed. While holding each other’s gaze, we dance to the sound of the music, just like the other couples on the dance floor.
”Nice move.” He praised and turned me around. Just then, I met gaze with alpha Ricardo, but it was quick. Quickly, I composed myself and made sure I wasn’t thinking about it, so alpha Joshua wouldn’t read through me.
We continued dancing slowly to the music until I decided to ask, ”You said you can’t read everything in one’s mind?” I asked, while he nodded his head before responding. ”There are so certain things the moon goddess doesn’t want me to read through. At first, I thought it was because I needed more practice, but with time I came to realize that it was actually the plan of the moon goddess. She doesn’t want me to read through everything.” He explained while I hummed and beamed at him. ”You are actually lucky, you have an incredible gift.” I praised him. ”Your gift, have you gotten it yet?” He asked, and I nodded my head. ”Which is?” He asked, ”The gift of healing. Although I haven’t tried it on anyone except for myself.” I explained. ”Wow, that’s incredible.” He praised while I smiled and shyly looked away.
”Oops, we have to exchange partners.” He said and turned me around, only for me to be taken by a strong grip. Two hands held my waist, forcing me to look up at the partner I was to dance with. Curious, I lifted my head, and my breath seized when I realized it was Ricardo.
