Mia’s POV
”Shit! What have I done?” I murmured in fear, and took another step backward. I heard his angry groan as he shut his eyes to calm the anger burning in him. ”I’m so sorry…” I tried apologizing, but he did not let me finish talking before yanking me to himself by my arms.
”How dare you slap me?” He asked with gritted teeth as the color of his became gray, which showed he was out of control. ”I’m… Sorry…” I shuddered in fear, not able to look at him in the eyes.
With an angry grunt, he threw me to the floor and I landed on a tomb which I believe belongs to his late mother. ”Argh!” I exclaimed in discomfort while holding on to my lower abdomen, which hit the tomb.
”You are right…” He spoke with gritted teeth. ” It’s not right that your mother be buried in a graveyard with the others.” He said with a groan. His words got me confused and at the same time scared.
”She will be thrown away in the deserted forest where birds will eat her flesh…” ”No!.” I pleaded and struggled to get up on my feet. ”Please, you can’t do this, I beg of you.” I begged while attempting to get closer to him, but he stopped me from coming closer.
”Don’t you dare take a step closer to me.” He warned me with gritted teeth, which made me gulp in pain and wept profusely. ”She will be thrown away, and you are free to join the men in throwing her body away.” He declared those words as a declaration and walked away.
I felt my body become numb, and my legs became so weak that they could no longer carry my body. With tears filled eyes, I fell on the floor and cried out in pain. ”No!” I cried out as his words kept buzzing in my head, which made me wonder why he would want to throw mother away like she was evil or had done an evil thing.
I knew he hated mom and I, but I never knew he would go up to this extent just to show his hatred towards us.
”No, I won’t let that happen.” I shook my head and stood to my feet. I ran out of the graveyard and ran to the main mansion. I went to the garden and saw sympathizers talking to Rick, and all he did was to nod his head at them. Quickly, I moved my gaze around and found the beta of our pack. I ran to him and stood before him. ”Is everything okay?” He asked while gesturing to the two men who were with him to excuse us. ”Is everything okay?” He asked again as the two men left. Gulping in pain, I couldn’t get words out of my mouth. ”Let me help you.” He said, took hold of my two hands and shut both his eyes. Dad’s beta has the ability to see events that happen in one’s life only if he holds your hands.
I heard him release a heavy sigh and open his eyes. I held his gaze and saw a pitiful look on his face as he let go of my hands. ”You have to help me.” I pleaded while he flashed me a weak smile and said, ”I’ll go talk to him, but I doubt he will change his mind.” He mumbled while shaking his head.
”No, that can’t happen, why would he bury my mother like an evildoer when the only crime she did was to fall in love with father.” I yelled in pain, causing the attention of everyone on me, but I didn’t care. Angrily, I walked over to where Ricardo was standing with a few of his friends and stood before him. His presence frightens me, but I wouldn’t let that scare me away.
”My mother will be buried and not just buried, but she will be buried in the mansion’s graveyard.” I spoke out loud with panting breath while holding Ricardo’s gaze, which had no expression.
”All mother did was to love you like her child…”
”Keep quiet!” He yelled furiously, which made the ground shake beneath our feet, causing me to shiver in fear.
I saw him inhaled deeply and shut his eyes for a second before opening them. He held gaze with me and all I could see were anger, hate, and disgust.
”Simon.” He called out to the head guard, who rushed out from a corner. ”Get some men and go to the hospital, take her corpse and throw it in the abandoned forest.” He announced while holding my gaze. ”No, no!” I yelled in pain and moved my gaze around, but no one held my gaze or even try to oppose his order.
I ran to the beta and gave him a pleading look, but he just shook his head and didn’t say a word. ”Don’t keep silent, this is wrong.” I yelled out while staring at everyone, but nobody said a word.
”Take her inside.” Rick ordered, ”Don’t you dare touch me!” I yelled, ”I’m also your alpha’s daughter, you can’t treat me this way.” I yelled in tears. ”Take her away!” He yelled, and two guards lifted me up from the ground and carried me away. ”No, You can’t do this!” I cried out as I was being carried to my room. The guards climbed the stairs and put me down when they got to my room door. ”Please go inside.” They advised me and took their leave.
With panting breath, I collapsed on the floor and cried profusely. My whole life was shattering right before my very eyes, and I couldn’t do anything about it. ”Maybe I should have died with them.” I murmured in tears as so many suicidal thoughts buzzed in my head.
”Mia!” Aunt Cara’s voice brought me back to reality. ”Are you okay, my dear?” She asked as she squatted before me with worried eyes.” No, Aunt Cara, I’m not okay.” I yelled in grief and hugged her tightly. ”I want to die, I just want to die.” I cried out as my body shook in pain. ”Everything will be fine.” She comforted me while patting my back. ”You have to be strong.” She comforted, while I shook my head and continued crying.
I could not tell how long I cried in her arms before pulling away from her. ”Wipe your tears and get on your feet, you are the daughter of alpha Luciano, weakness doesn’t run in your blood.” She urged and lifted me up from the floor while I sniffled and wiped my cheek with the back of my palms.
”I just made a mind link to Simon, and he said they are on their way back with your mother’s corpse.” She flashed me a comforting smile and continued, ”You have to accompany them to the forest, don’t worry, nothing will happen to you, but you can stay back if you are scared.” She suggested with a pitiful look.
”I will go with them.” I responded, and she nodded her head and led me to the stairs. We took the stairs to the sitting room and met Ricardo talking to a few gammas. He noticed my presence and held my gaze for a second, but looked away like I didn’t exist.
”Let’s go.” Aunt Cara led me out of the sitting room. ” They will wait for you at the entrance of the Forest. Israel will take you there.” I gulped at Aunt Cara’s words and made my way to the garage. When I reached the garage, I met Israel, dad’s personal driver, standing beside a car. ”Are you ready?” He asked while I nodded my head as a response.
He opened the front seat of the car for me to get in and sat in the driver’s seat before driving off.
After several minutes of silence, he spoke up. ”Are you okay?” He asked, but I didn’t give him a response.
When he noticed I wasn’t in the mood to talk, he remained silent all through the drive until we got to the abandoned forest, where it was believed that only evildoers and criminals’ dead bodies are thrown there.
”We are here.” He announced to me, while I just nodded my head and got out of the car.
The moment I got out of the car, I saw mother’s body on a stretcher covered with black cloth. ”Mother.” I cried, and rushed to where her body was laid, but Simon stopped me. ”Stay away.” He warned, and signaled four men to lift the stretcher, which they did.
”You can follow us in, but make sure not to cry.” He warned me and led the way into the Forest while I followed behind and the four men followed behind me.
As we walked deeper into the forest, all the men made incantations while I gulped in pain and held myself from crying.
After a ten-minute walk into the forest, Simon stopped, and we all stopped.
Terrified, I moved my gaze around and saw dried bones of dead bodies which were abandoned there.
The place stinks of offensive odors, which torn my heart into pieces knowing mom will end up here.
”Bring her down.” He instructed the four men carrying the stretcher, and they did as he instructed. With my heart clenching with pain, I watched mother corpse dropped on the floor.
”We have to leave.” Simon spoke up while I fell to the ground before mom’s corpse, but two men quickly lifted me up. ”Don’t wake the Spirits, let’s go.” Simon warned, ”No!” I yelled in pain as I was being dragged away. ”Mother!” I cried out, hoping all this was just a dream and I would wake up from it, but alas it was never a dream.
They dragged me out of the forest until we arrived at the main road where the cars were packed.
”Take her back to the mansion, we have to go purify ourselves.” Simon instructed Israel while I just stood there, numb and lifeless. My life was fading right before me and I couldn’t do anything about it.
”Mia.” I heard Israel’s voice but couldn’t respond to it. ”I think she is zoning out.” Simon spoke and tapped me on the shoulder, but I didn’t give him a response.
Ignoring their calls, I fixed my gaze at the forest and a dangerous thought came to my head, one which I didn’t ignore.
Tonight, I will be back to this place to steal away mom’s corpse.
