“What do you think?” Bianca whispered, giving him a slight frown.
The man she had a chance encounter with had been chosen randomly from a crowd, a possibility as slim as winning the lottery. How could she possibly believe it was a mere chance?
“Okay, I’ll come clean.” Dave sighed. “I had my boss investigate your background. I was curious about who I had been intimate with and who left me a fortune before disappearing.”
Bianca’s cheeks flushed. She hadn’t considered the consequences and didn’t know who he was. Fearful of the implications, she had left money and fled.
“My boss discovered your post online, and, well… you know the rest,” Dave admitted.
“Since then, you knew about our connection… So why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Bianca pouted, feeling a bit annoyed. If he spilled the beans earlier, she wouldn’t have been so conflicted for so long.
“I’m sorry. I had my own reasons. I wanted to understand why you entered a stranger’s room and what kind of person you are. You seemed expert at leaving compensation after our encounter,” Dave explained.
Bianca extended her leg and kicked him lightly, leaving a tiny mark on his finely tailored trousers.
“That was my first time,” Bianca confessed, her cheeks flushing instantly. She couldn’t believe she had blurted that out. She nervously nibbled her lip and continued, “But you, Mr. Evans, you didn’t seem like a first-timer that night. So come on, spill the beans. How many wealthy women have you been with?”
Soon after Bianca’s words slipped her lips, Dave pressed her against the sofa’s back. His tall figure loomed over her, wrapping her in his strong arms. “Miss Scott, if you say anything else to ruin my reputation, I’ll make sure you can’t speak again.”
Bianca covered her mouth with her hand, startled.
Dave smirked. “But seriously, do you think you could buy my first time for less than five hundred dollars? You’re being quite thrifty, aren’t you?”
‘Buy his first time?’
‘Was Dave saying that night was his first time, too?’
Bianca couldn’t believe it. She had thought that, with his good looks and fit physique, he must have had many women interested in him. Had he never…
She eyed Dave suspiciously and asked, “Don’t try to trick me. Have you never had a girlfriend?”
“Definitely not,” Dave said firmly, his eyes warm. “You’re the only one for me. I’ve never been with anyone else but you.”
Bianca was taken aback, her heart beating faster.
So that’s why he was so curious about her. He wanted to understand why she had been intimate with him that night.
It was a first for him, too. He had the same worries about trust and getting hurt.
Once Bianca understood his reasons, her anger melted away.
“Mr. Evans! You’ve been tricking me this whole time!” Bianca playfully pouted and gave him another teasing kick, feeling warm inside.
Dave grabbed her ankle and chuckled. “You’re so mischievous. Are you flirting with me?”
“What?” Bianca’s face turned bright red. “I-I didn’t mean to!”
“Bianca,” Dave hugged her again, his face buried in her hair, saying her name softly. “Could you say that again?”
“Say what?”
“Tell me you like me.”
Bianca felt a rush of warmth, her whole body flushing. She had confessed her love earlier on a whim, but saying it again made her incredibly shy.
“Nope,” Bianca said, pressing her lips together firmly.
Dave looked into her eyes, a playful glint there. “Are you really not going to say it?”
“No chance.”
After her words trailed off, Dave leaned in and kissed her passionately, leaving Bianca breathless as he gently parted her lips, leaving her in a daze.
Bianca gripped his sleeve tightly, wrinkling the perfectly ironed fabric. She found herself instinctively responding to his kiss, her mind going blank.
His kisses always overwhelmed her.
In the midst of their passionate moment, Dave suddenly paused. He looked at her intensely, his voice low and teasing. “You always manage to provoke me, but you rarely say anything to make me smile. Looks like I need to tame you a bit.”
His tone was full of playful flirtation.
Bianca nestled into his arms, looking up at him with misty eyes, her face, and neck tinged with a rosy blush.
Dave grinned playfully, swallowing nervously. “If you don’t say it, I’ll just have to keep kissing you.”
He paused, chuckling softly, and teased, “Or maybe that’s exactly what you want?”
‘Oh God! How does he flirt so effortlessly?’
If this kept up, Bianca feared she might lose herself in him.
She placed her hands on his chest, insisting, “No. Sit up first. Then I’ll tell you.”
Dave sat up eagerly, his eyes shining with anticipation. Bianca also sat up, quickly adjusting her skirt to hide her shyness.
Facing Dave, she hesitated for a moment, then softly confessed, “I… I like you.”
“Who do you like?” he teased, raising his eyebrows playfully.
Aware that he was teasing her, Bianca stood up confidently and said firmly, “Mr. Evans, I mean it. I like you. I like Dave Evans!”
Dave was momentarily surprised, then gently embraced Bianca around her waist and lifted her up.
Bianca placed her hands on his shoulders, looking down at him in confusion. “What are you doing? Please put me down.”
Dave met her gaze with his bright eyes, and she looked back into his. At that moment, they could only see and feel each other.
Dave carried Bianca to the bedroom and carefully placed her on the large, soft bed. He then took out a red diamond necklace from his pocket, knelt halfway before her, and placed it around her neck.
“From now on, you’re mine. Don’t hang out with other men anymore.”
“When have I ever spent time with other men?” Bianca pouted, retorting in disbelief.
Dave raised his eyebrows playfully. “How can you deny it? What about you and Blake?”
Bianca quickly explained, “Oh, we’re just friends. Zoey set up our meeting today.”
“But I heard Paige was trying to set you up with him.”
“I have no idea why she’d suggest that, but I declined her offer already,” Bianca said, pursing her lips and feeling a bit hurt. “Mr. Evans, you do trust me, don’t you?”
Dave gently pinched her cheek.
He blinked reassuringly and replied, “I trust you. I believe everything you say.”
Bianca smiled again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and asked curiously, “So, what about you and Natalie? Do you keep in touch privately? How else did you manage to find me today?”
“Natalie and me?” Dave looked puzzled. “I ran into her. She said she knew where you were and offered to lead me to you.”
