MALIA’S POV
Zade came to see me a week later. I had tried not to look excited at all when Penelope had come to tell me that he was waiting for me in the conference room.
“Or should I ask him to come up to your chambers?” she queried and I gave her a withering look.
“Oooh. How scary. I just hope he is not scared of you at all,” she said.
She frowned when I didn’t immediately get up from my bed but returned to the book that I had been reading before she came to inform me about my mate’s presence.
After the incident, I had taken to reading books. I had gone to the library to check for any book that had to do with the witches of the Alfea tribe. I wanted to learn how to use my powers at will and I think that I was already getting a hang of it.
The other day, I had managed to make Penelope’s dress wet when she had dared to make fun of my voice. We had decided to join a music class just for the fun of it and I realized that it was best I left singing alone. I also learned that playing any musical instrument was not for me. All in all, I was tone-deaf and hopeless when it came to music.
Penelope tapped her foot impatiently on the ground and I imagined what her reaction was going to be if I temporarily paralyzed her because the sound was irritating.
“Penelope,” I snapped.
She rolled her eyes. “I know how much you want to act unbothered right now but I don’t think that you should keep him waiting for too long. He already looks tortured, there’s no need to add to that.”
I ignored her. After all, I hadn’t heard a word from him for a whole week. It was only fair if I made him wait for a few hours.
Penelope snatched the book from my hand. “Do not be so stubborn,” she said and I stared at her for a moment, thinking about how to just make her fall flat on her face.
She scowled at me. “I know that look. Don’t you dare use your powers on me, Malia.”
I grinned as I got up from my seat. “Fine. I’ll go and see him now,” I said and made my way out of the room.
Penelope fell in step beside me and we walked together in silence until we reached the conference room.
I stopped to look at her, wondering if she was going to go in with me.
I arched an eyebrow at her and she smiled innocently. “Don’t you need a chaperone?” she asked and I gave her a dirty look.
“Sorry,” she mouthed and walked back towards the main building.
I had to take a deep breath and steel myself before going in because I could feel my wolf leaping in excitement.
“You shouldn’t be excited. He hurt me and I do not know if I can forgive him.”
She ignored me and I could feel her excitement increase even more.
I prayed to the Moon Goddess for strength and self-control before pushing the door open.
He had been sitting on one of the chairs and he stood up as soon as I walked in.
I stopped when I was a metre away from him. I tried not to breathe in too deeply to prevent his delicious smell from messing with my head.
“I heard you wanted to see me,” I said.
His lips quirked in amusement and I wondered what the hell was funny.
“Did I say something to amuse you?” I asked in irritation and he immediately pressed his lips into a flat line even though his eyes still danced in amusement.
“I love your hair,” he said and I tried not to feel pleased.
“Did you come all the way here to compliment my hair?” I queried.
He sighed deeply. “Please, let’s sit.”
I wanted to be difficult and refuse to sit at first but I thought better of it and grudgingly lowered myself to a chair.
He took the seat beside me and I tried not to feel affected by his nearness. Meanwhile, my wolf was literally drooling. How I wish I could smack her.
“I know you are upset that I didn’t reach out to you for a whole week after you saved my life and I am deeply sorry.”
I scoffed. “I am not upset. We have not been in communication with each other even before the incident happened and I’ve been cool with it. Definitely not upset. So if that’s the reason you came to see me then I must say that you have wasted your time. I wasn’t upset at all,” I replied.
“Malia, please,” he sighed and without warning, took my hand.
I stiffened immediately. Not because I felt irritated but because I enjoyed his touch so much that I felt I was going to beg him not to let go.
“Do you hate me that much?” he murmured, interpreting my action wrongly.
I shrugged without giving him an answer.
He slowly let go of my hand and my wolf whined in protest.
We were silent for a while until the silence began to irk me. I stood up from my seat abruptly and I saw the surprise on his face.
“If you are here to know how we are supposed to go about punishing our enemies then I must have you know that I have figured it out. You can take Victoria as she is a member of your pack and punish her as you deem fit. Ryder is going to remain here because he is a member of this pack and I am also going to give him whatever punishment that I deem fit.”
I turned on my heel and began walking towards the door.
“Malia please wait,” he called out.
“If you have anything else you want to say, I suggest you see my Beta,” I said.
“I do not want to see the damn Beta, Malia.”
Something in his voice made me stop walking and I turned to face him.
He walked slowly towards me and I could see the devastation in his expression.
“I know you are angry for everything I put you through and I deserve it. I do not even deserve the privilege to speak with you,” he began. Then he took a deep breath and continued. “This past week has been filled with so much self-loathing. I didn’t come to you because I was too ashamed to face you. I felt so stupid and so weak. You gave me your everything and I repaid you with cruelty.”
I let out a tiny gasp as he went down on both knees. “Zade, what do you think you are doing?” I whispered.
“Please, Malia, I am begging for your forgiveness. I know I don’t deserve it. I do not deserve to ask you of this but I cannot go on without it. I cannot continue without you in my life. It would have been better if you had just let me die the other day.”
I felt my heart break as he began to sob shamelessly and to my surprise, I realized that I was crying too.
He held on to my skirt as he begged me for mercy. I couldn’t take it anymore.
I also went down on my knees and wrapped my arms around him.
We stayed like that until my knees started to hurt. When I released him, I saw the pain and desperation in his eyes.
“I need you, Malia. I need you to come take your rightful place as Luna of the Silver Crescent Pack. I cannot lead them without your help. In fact, I don’t think there is anything I can do these days. Please, return with me. I know it’s not possible for you to forgive me completely right now. But I am willing to wait, no matter how long it takes. For the sake of the mate bond we share, please return with me,” he begged.
I sighed deeply as I pulled him up. Even if I wanted to say no to him, there was no way my wolf was not going to torment me.
I nodded. “I’ll return with you but that means you’ll have to stay here for a day or two. I need to bid my friends a proper goodbye.”
He nodded. “Anything you want, Malia, I’ll do it.”
I gave him a smile and this time I didn’t resist when he tried to touch me.
His arm went around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I closed my eyes and breathed in the scent of him deeply.
Emboldened by my action, he slowly lowered his head and claimed my lips.
Every nerve cell in my body became frantic with excitement and my wolf wanted him to take us right there and then.
Before I realized it, my back was up against the wall, and my arms were wrapped around his neck.
He kissed me greedily, desperately and I kissed him back just as passionately.
He broke the kiss to place tiny bites on my neck and I moaned with wild abandon.
I toyed with the button on his pants as his mouth moved to the swell of my breasts.
I arched my back, offering my breasts to him and he feverishly undid the buttons at the front of my top.
He groaned in pleasure as he removed my top to reveal my lace-covered breasts.
My nipples threatened to bore a hole through the material, calling for Zade’s attention.
He lowered his head and captured one pert nipple with his mouth through the material.
I whimpered in pleasure and buried my fingers in his hair.
His hand went to the band of my bra and he expertly undid the hook.
He hurriedly slipped the bra hands off my shoulders and cupped my breasts with his large hands. He massage them gently and I felt a thrill all the way down to my core.
I desperately needed him inside of me and I moved my hips suggestively against his erection.
He didn’t need any further encouragement. He quickly undid his pants and his erection sprang free.
He lifted me so that I could wrap my legs around his waist, straddling me.
After lifting my skirt and gathering it into a bunch. He moved my thong to the side and plunged into my wet core with his sword.
I screamed in pleasure as he moved in and out of my slippery wetness, taking me to nirvana.
When I came, it was as though I was suspended in nothingness. A state so peaceful and quiet.
He climaxed seconds after I did with a low groan.
We remained like that for a few minutes until his dick slipped out of me.
“Great, now this whole room reeks of sex,” I said as he set me down and entangled my skirt from around my waist.
He chuckled. “Luckily for us, no one is going to complain about it.”
After we had tried our best to look like we had not been having sex, we walked out the door arm in arm and I narrowed my eyes in suspicion as I came face to face with Penelope.
She smiled innocently at me. “I just wanted to let you know that the Beta was looking for you to sign some documents.”
I took in her innocent smile and the devilish twinkle in her eyes and smiled. I was really going to miss her.
I spent the next two days trying to spend as much time as I could with my friends.
Penelope had cried when I told her that I was leaving.
I rolled my eyes. “You could just come and visit so why are you crying? It is not as though I am dying.”
She smacked me hard on my arm. “You are just so hard-hearted,” she said and continued crying to the amusement of her husband and his brothers.
I was pretty sure that they were going to tease her mercilessly about it later.
Aurora had already made peace with the fact that she was going to lose another brother. She had told me that she understood I had to do it.
Lucien enveloped me in a big hug. “Please, do visit often,” he said and I thought I saw tears in his eyes.
I left with Zade a day after to the Silver Crescent Pack.
Ryder and Victoria had been taken the day before by some of the soldiers of the Pack, to be prisoners of my mate’s Pack and await their execution.
To my relief, I didn’t feel any shred of pity for them as they were led by the executioner to the podium where they were beheaded.
I didn’t so much as flinch when the executioner’s axe went down on their necks and their heads rolled to the ground.
They would have killed us too without sympathy if they had gotten the chance so there was no point feeling guilty or pity.
It took a while for me to totally forgive Zade and it took even longer for me to accept to be his Luna. Perhaps, there was this part of me that was convinced that I couldn’t conceive even though I knew that my not conceiving had been Ryder’s fault and not mine.
I could say that the Coronation ceremony was one of the happiest days of my life.
I was already heavily pregnant with twins and all my friends from the Red Claw Pack came to celebrate with me.
Damien had been made the new Alpha which made Penelope the new Luna. But that was not enough to make her father-in-law and her husband’s brothers stop teasing her.
With me by Zade’s side, the Silver Crescent Pack quickly reclaimed its lost glory.
“I’m just so glad that the Moon Goddess gave me a second chance with you,” Zade said as we watched the twins play a game of chess.
I rubbed my well-rounded belly and felt her kick. I was certain that it was going to be a girl this time.
I gave my husband a sweet smile. The Moon Goddess had been right to give him a second chance with me.
Sometimes, it is just important for some people to learn from their mistakes because it is the only way they’ll ever learn and become the best version of themselves.
I looked into Zade’s eyes and I knew that we had a long and fulfilling life ahead of us.
