The office was silent for a while, no one spoke first.
Blanca Roach took a deep breath, tapped her fingers on the table, and looked sideways at Shelly.
“You can go if you’re okay, I can’t work with you here.”
“I’m not leaving.” Shelly leaned back on the couch, her tone mocking, “I’m a customer, and you don’t even have a glass of water here?”
“Fine, I’ll call my assistant to pour it for you, and please leave when you’re done.”
Blanca Roach suppressed the anger in her heart and said with a fake smile and gritted teeth.
Her hand had just touched the phone button next to her when the office door was suddenly opened and a man rushed in.
“Blanca Roach, give me a place to hide.”
“Elizabeth?”
The office was really busy today, three people had come in less than a morning, and there was no telling if there would be a fourth.
Blanca Roach stopped moving and frowned at someone in a blaze of glory, her tone puzzled.
“Why are you here?”
“It’s because of you! Find me a place to hide.”
Elizabeth Harris was about to say something else when she looked sideways and saw the person sitting on the sofa, frowned, and her tone was unkind.
“What are you doing sitting here? Can’t you see she’s busy?”
“This lady, but I was here first.” Shelly looked at her with a disdainful expression, “If you want to leave, you should leave.”
“Fine.”
Elizabeth Harris took a breather and propped herself up on the table next to her, her eyes examining.
“Excuse me, are you done? Speak up if you’re not done.”
“We’re done.” Blanca Roach interjected with a smile, “Just finished.”
“Why don’t you leave now that you’ve finished? What, do you want to rub people’s water? You’re dressed in a brand name, and you’re still short of money? I don’t know, but I think you’re looking for trouble on purpose.”
Shelly was dumbfounded by the dislike, her face turned blue and she gave Elizabeth Harris a vicious glare.
“I’ll remember you.”
With those words, she stomped out of the office on her high heels, slamming the door loudly.
Blanca Roach watched the drama from the sidelines and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Just get over it and stop laughing.” Elizabeth Harris leaned against her desk and took several breaths, “You’re killing me.”
“What’s wrong? Running fast and all that, and how angry you are.”
“Last night I sent that person home after I left, and today he ended up blocking my house downstairs, trying to ask me who sent her back yesterday, I had no choice but to run out.”
“What’s there to run for, you just tell him the truth.”
Elizabeth Harris pouted, her complexion immediately clouded, her tone dry.
“No way! I’m not going to tell him and save him the trouble of always talking to someone else about how he plans to consummate his engagement with me.”
“Isn’t that what you want.”
Blanca Roach got up and poured water for her and handed it to her, somewhat in a serious tone.
“In all the years you’ve been out of the country, Peter Murray really hasn’t had a single woman around, not even a single lace-up.”
“So … so what.”
Elizabeth Harris’s face changed, relying on a drink of water to hide the emotions tumbling in her eyes, still stubbornly said.
“It’s his choice if he doesn’t look, none of my business, and besides he was after you before.”
“It’s all in the past, isn’t his choice obvious enough now?”
“I don’t know what his choice is, he can do whatever he likes.”
Despite her words, Elizabeth Harris avoided Blanca Roach’s gaze, turned around, and sat down in the chair next to her.
