Selina walked silently on the back side, looking at the ground with downcast eyes.
Next to her, there was no one else at all except the staff who were in a hurry.
She and Charles White are like this, attending public occasions together can’t even appear in front of the media openly.
Charles White glanced back and slowed his pace without a trace, waiting for her to follow.
“Are you tired? Why don’t you wait here and I’ll bring the car over.”
“No.” Selina shook her head, holding her hand behind her waist, her tone light, “I can walk there by myself.”
“Wait if I tell you to.”
Charles White stopped her, his tone sparse and hard, striding towards the car on the side of the road.
It wasn’t really a long walk, and she could have walked there by herself.
But every time it was like this, if there was a little bit not in line with his idea, it was going to be forcefully forced to accept.
Selina stood quietly at the side of the road, waiting for the car to drive over and pull up beside her.
Just as she was about to open the door and go up, another hand snatched the door open and carefully supported her arm to help her up to the passenger side.
“Thanks.”
Charles White frowned and coldly went around to the driver’s seat, slamming the door shut and looking at her sideways.
“I treat you badly?”
“No.” Selina stared at her feet, avoiding his gaze, “You’ve been good to me.”
That said, Charles White had helped her in every way except for keeping her confined to himself, and was secretly helping her parents.
Only his help was supposedly all for the sake of the child in her belly.
Charles White narrowed his eyes and cupped Selina’s chin, forcing her to look him in the eye.
“So how come you’re still like this now?”
“I’ve always been like this.” Selina locked eyes with him and said faintly, “Unless, you can let me go.”
“No way!”
This categorical refusal was within Selina’s expectation, since she had been caught back after escaping several times, then naturally he would not let her go at this time.
“This matter is already unresolved, you captive me, and still want me to be kind to you, do you think it is possible?”
Charles White did not speak, released her to sit back in the driver’s seat, half a day before speaking.
“It’s okay to leave, but not now.”
Not expecting him to say that, Selina was a little surprised and bit her lip.
Somehow, the emotion that rolled through her heart was not happiness, but an indescribable loss.
“As you saw the other day, I had a falling out with The White family.”
Charles White’s tone was shallow, a deep crease fell between his eyebrows, he felt a cigarette between his fingers, and did not light it, just held it in his hand.
“Do you think they don’t know you’re with me? Or they don’t know about your current situation.”
He and Matthew Grant had hollowed out The White family, but he was also on the cusp of something.
There was no way someone from The White family wouldn’t be watching his every move, let alone such a living, breathing human being.
Selina lowered her eyes, she herself understood the meaning of Charles White’s words, but still had a little selfishness and asked softly.
“So, that’s why I have to avoid the media when I show up with you?”
“Not really.”
Charles White raised an eyebrow and turned his head to stare at her, his tone casual.
“I don’t mind letting people know if you want, the key is in you, not me.”
Selina’s heart fluttered at his words, and she silently withdrew her gaze, emotions tumbling under her eyes.
Was it really okay if she was willing?
