Am I completely sane?

“Really, no one?” Simmy asked the two maids. “I don’t believe it!”
The maids stood there, frozen in place. I sneered. She was acting like a mistress. Definitely.
I laid back on the bed and didn’t say a word. I watched out of the corner of my eye as Simmy searched the room. She went into the bathroom, the closet, and the balcony. I raised an eyebrow when I saw her bend down and peek under the bed.
I sat up. “You’re ridiculous,” I said.
She stood up straight and looked at me, raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms. “Are you really alone here, Azora?” she asked.
I sighed and looked at her, a smug smile forming on my lips. “Did you see anyone?”
“Ha!” She snorted. “Ariya said something strange is happening in this room. She heard you talking to someone else while she was bringing your food. So tell the truth, Azora. There’s no escaping now!”
I smirked at her. “I guess you didn’t find anyone.”
I crossed my arms and stared at Simmy’s red, angry face. I knew she would claim I had someone in the room.
I had made sure the maid would hear me talking to someone. I knew Simmy would come looking. I just didn’t expect the maid to tell Simmy so soon.
“Where did you hide him, Azora? Where!” she demanded.
I bit my lip to suppress my laughter but couldn’t hold it any longer. I didn’t care about Simmy’s glare.
“Even if I tell you, you will never see him. Why bother looking for someone invisible?” I asked Simmy.
I saw her eyes widen slowly, her lips parting in disbelief. “Are you crazy, Azora?”
I raised my hand and ran my fingers through my hair. I then looked at Simmy, smirking. “What if I am?” I said, challenging her.
She took a deep breath and turned her head to the right. “You two, get out. Close the door but don’t lock it,” she told the maids.
They quickly bowed and left the room without stopping or looking back. I heard the door close gently. Now, it was just me and Simmy.
She stared at me like I had grown another head. I chuckled. “What?” I asked.
“Who do you see in this room?” Simmy asked.
“Anthony,” I breathed.
Her eyes narrowed as she stepped closer. “That boy is dead,” she said firmly.
“Yes, I know.” I gestured to the balcony, where I saw Anthony’s silhouette in the dancing white curtain. “He’s at the balcony, enjoying the view. But even if you look for him, you won’t see him there.”
“Don’t try to scare me, Azora!”
“Why? Are you scared?” I asked, then laughed.
Her shoulders heaved as she caught her breath. Pity. She would never see what I see around.
Maybe I was going crazy. Seeing things that weren’t there. But between me and Simmy, I thought she was the crazier one. A cunning woman trying hard to win Dad’s heart. Maybe she had already succeeded. Who knew?
“You really are crazy, Azora.”
I smiled at her and then laughed. I laughed and laughed but stopped when Simmy laughed with me. I looked at her, confused. “Why are you laughing?” I asked.
“Because I’m happy.” She grinned. “I’ve proven you’re insane. Ha. Is this what happens to people who are locked up? Mm. How amusing.”
I squinted at her. Was she glad because I was losing my mind? I snorted. Of course she was. That was what she wanted. She wanted nothing but to ruin my life.
I let her laugh. I leaned on the headboard, looking out at the open balcony, not minding the sound of Simmy’s laughter.
Between the two of us, she seemed to be the one who had truly gone mad.
Minutes passed before she stopped laughing. I saw her step closer to the bed out of the corner of my eye. She stood there.
I turned my head to the right and looked at her. “Done?” I asked.
She just smirked at me and put her hands on her hips. “I didn’t expect you to go crazy so quickly, Azora.”
“Oh. I was fortunate then,” I said sarcastically.
She smirked. “You have no idea how much I held back before. Now, I don’t have to spike your drink. You’re really insane.” She took a deep breath. “Well, it’s not surprising. You were crazy even before, that’s why you’re here. I’ll tell your father you’re losing your mind again.”
Losing my mind again?
I looked at Simmy. She was smiling-no, smirking at me while crossing her arms. I blinked. “What do you mean?” I asked.
“Don’t bother finding out the truth, Azora. The Clasiso family will know you were locked up here, and they’ll be even angrier at your father. They want you to talk about what happened to Anthony, but don’t worry, I’ll tell them you’re insane, so they won’t trust what you say.” She snorted. “You’re useless from now on!” she exclaimed and stormed out of the room.
I was left puzzled by her words. The Clasiso family would be angry? I chewed my lip gently. So basically, the Clasiso family still wanted my statements, and they would be furious knowing I was locked up here, so they would never get the chance to chase me again?
But then, Skylar wouldn’t possibly tell the Clasiso family the truth. So I could say that I was safe, for the time being. I didn’t know what would happen in the coming days.
But what concerned me more was what she said about losing my mind again. What did she mean by that? That I had lost my mind before?
I sneered and rolled my eyes. Who said that I lost my mind? I wasn’t crazy!
I was completely sane!
But when I looked at the balcony again, I saw Anthony. My forehead creased. Was I completely sane?
