Book:Mysterious Little Wife Published:2024-6-25

“Don’t…”
“Don’t… don’t come over…”
“Go away… go away…”
Sam woke up at once, and the woman in his arms began to relax. She didn’t open her eyes, but her body reacted abnormally.
“Lacey, wake up…” The man frowned and seemed to be anxious.
“No, go away, go away-”
“It’s me, Lacey!” Sam hurriedly tucked the hair on her forehead behind her ear, only to find that her hair was already wet.
“Go away, go away…”
Her voice was urgent and anxious.
“Lacey!” Sam hurriedly raised his voice and grabbed her chin. “It’s me. Open your eyes and have a look!”
Lacey was fixed by him and could not move.
“Look at me!”
The man’s voice rang clearly in her ear like a havet.
Lacey stopped struggling and slowly opened her eyes…
“Don’t be afraid, it’s me!”
Lacey looked at him for a few seconds and suddenly reached out her hand to push him hard. Her strength was amazing.
Being pushed by her, Sam took a step back without warning.
Lacey quickly shrank back and leaned against the bed.
“Lacey, it’s me!” he said gently.
However, if one looked closely, one would find that there was sadness in his smiling eyes.
Lacey held herself tightly with both hands, and her body was still shivering.
“Lacey, it’s me. I’ll take you home…”
“Let’s… go home…” Lacey suddenly murmured.
Sam was surprised and hurriedly said, “Yes, I’ll take you home.”
Lacey slowly looked up at him, and her unfocused eyes gradually returned to normal.
After a while, she suddenly curled her lips and said with a heart-wrenching smile, “You’re finally here!”
It hurts!
Sam was in great pain because of these words.
He never knew that a short sentence would make his heart twitch like this.
In an instant, the man’s eyes flashed and his voice was hoarse and deep. “I’m here to pick you up. Don’t be afraid, okay?”
Lacey didn’t say anything and her eyelashes fluttered.
After a long silence, she looked up at him again.
“Did I… get…”
“No!” Sam interrupted her directly. “Stan rushed over in time. You’re fine!”
The corner of Lacey’s mouth twitched slightly, and her eyelashes trembled violently. Tears welled up in her eyes.
Then, she bit her lips tightly, held herself tightly, and grabbed her arms hard with both hands.
Seeing this, Sam rushed forward and grabbed her hand. “Stop! Your arm is going to be broken!”
Unexpectedly, as soon as she touched her hand, she subconsciously shrank back.
She stared at him with abnormal vigilance.
Such a gaze stunned Sam slightly.
“Don’t… don’t touch me…” It took her a lot of effort to maintain her normal tone. She looked at him and smiled awkwardly. “Don’t… get close to me, okay?”
At this moment, the man felt a sharp pain in his heart, which rushed to his limbs and bones like an electric current.
All of a sudden, the room became quiet.
Lacey remained silent like a puppet.
No one knew what she was thinking.
Sam didn’t move. He sat on the stool next to her, waiting for her.
Didn’t know how long it took.
It was not until the nurse came over that the silence was broken.
“Ms. Carter, you’re awake. It’s time to take your medicine.” As she spoke, the nurse brought the medicine over and handed her a cup of water.
Lacey frowned and subconsciously knocked over the medicine and cup in her hand.
“Bang!” It was particularly loud in this quiet night.
The nurse was stunned. She had forgotten to react.
“Lacey.” Sam hurried over and wanted to check if her hand was hurt.
“Don’t come over!” Lacey said coldly when she saw him coming over.
Sam stopped when he was half a meter away from her.
The air once again sank into dead silence.
“Yes, yes, I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m going to get the medicine again…” The nurse trembled.
This was the most advanced VIP ward, and the patients who lived here were either rich or noble.
She couldn’t afford to offend a nurse like her.
“You don’t have to take it. You can go out!” The man said lightly.
The nurse breathed a sigh of relief and quickly picked up the cup and medicine on the ground. She immediately closed the door and left.
She bit her red lips and seemed to have thought of something. Her face was full of grievance.
“It doesn’t matter. If you don’t like it, then I won’t eat it anymore,” Sam said as he poured a glass of water for her.
He walked up to her and wanted to hand her over, but he was afraid that she would reject him.
Then he put it on the table.
“I’m sorry…” Her voice was hoarse.
“I’m fine.” Sam smiled, but it didn’t last long.
Because the worry in his eyes was even more intense.
Lacey looked up at him, her black eyes staring straight at him, which made her look paler. “I don’t want to be in the hospital, I want to go home…”
“Okay!” He did not refuse, nor could he refuse.
“Thank you…”
Her eyes fell again, and her long, thin eyelashes cast a shadow on her delicate skin…
At half past three in the morning.
The luxury car sped all the way in the quiet night.
Lacey sat in the back seat and wrapped her clothes tightly around her chest. She looked out of the window and was as quiet as a porcelain doll.
Sam occasionally looked in the rearview mirror, only to see the loneliness on her side face.
Forty minutes later.
The Garrison family had arrived.
Lacey got out of the car and walked inside.
Sam leaned to her side, and Lacey subconsciously moved to the side.
Seeing this, Sam’s brows never relaxed.
When the maid on duty saw them, she was stunned and was about to shout.
Sam raised his hand, signaling him not to make a sound.
The servants shut their mouths.
Lacey kept her head down and walked upstairs mechanically step by step.
Back in the familiar room, she seemed to be still tense.
“The doctor said that you need enough rest.” Sam lifted the quilt and turned on the bedside lamp.
Lacey looked at the bed and then at him with a complicated look in her eyes.
“I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight,” Sam took the initiative to say.
Lacey didn’t refuse. She went to bed obediently and lay down quietly.
Seeing this, Sam took out a quilt from the cabinet and went to the sofa.
After an unknown period of time, the atmosphere in the room gradually calmed down.
However, the aura was not from Lacey.
The man’s breathing became steady, and Lacey opened her eyes in the darkness.
She looked at the bedside lamp, and her bright eyes turned dark.
What happened a few hours ago flashed through her mind like a movie.
In just a few minutes, her hair was all wet.
His whole body was shivering.
Under the quilt, in a place that no one could see, her fingers pinched her thigh hard…
Don’t cry.
She couldn’t cry.
She was not qualified to cry.
But…
Why couldn’t she stop crying?
Drops of tears kept falling like a tap that could not be turned off.
Soon, she bit the blanket and made a slight whimper…
Sam slowly opened his eyes.
In fact, he didn’t sleep.
The sound of breathing was deliberately for her.
This girl was so good at hiding her feelings.
She had been holding back her anger since she was rescued.
However, when he fell asleep, she couldn’t bear it anymore.
How stubborn was she?
At this moment, he wished that she could open her heart and cry in his arms.
But…
The suppressed cry was especially sorrowful in the quiet night…
Listening to the suppressed cry, Sam’s heart was filled with anxiety.
However, he couldn’t go there.
Because he knew that once he moved.
She would hide herself again.
She needed to vent.
Otherwise, it would be even more sealed.
At five o’clock in the morning, Lacey’s breathing finally returned to normal.
Only then did Sam get up and leave the sofa.
On the white bed, she lay on her side, biting the quilt with her teeth. With tears on her eyelashes, she fell asleep just like that…
He felt both distressed and helpless.
He gently pulled out the quilt from her mouth and covered her with it.
Then he got up and went out.
At half past seven in the morning.
When Sam pushed the door open and came in, he saw her looking out of the window with her hands on her knees. She had short hair and a pale face. She looked lonely for no reason.
Hearing the sound, her body moved slightly.
“Are you awake? Can I ask Aunt Paige to bring you breakfast?” the man asked with a smile as he walked up to her.
Lacey didn’t say anything, but she frowned when she saw him.
“What do you want to eat, huh?”
He pretended not to see her frown and continued to ask softly.
“Is she there?” she asked coolly, not looking at him.
Sam paused and said softly, “Let’s go back.”
The corner of Lacey’s mouth twitched, and she suddenly said, “I want to go back to the Carter family…”
Sam lowered his eyes slightly. Then, he suddenly smiled and said, “Do you want to eat noodles or steamed buns? I’ll ask the kitchen to make them for you. By the way, there are some dumplings you made last time. Do you want some?”
“I’m going back to the Carter family!”
She raised her voice.
“The weather is good today. The flowers in the garden are blooming. Shall we go and have a look together?”
Lacey raised her head.
She stared at him, her expression almost unchanged.
However, if one looked closely, one could see that her face was getting paler and paler, and her long eyelashes were trembling violently.
“I want to go back to the Carter family!”
She spoke again.
He stared at her silently. No one knew what he was thinking in his deep eyes.
“Don’t worry, I won’t mess with her. I know she can’t get hurt, because she has a heart worth tens of millions of yuan!” She smiled faintly, full of sarcasm.
“Lacey!” Sam suddenly frowned. He grabbed her hand and wanted to explain.
However, Lacey was very disgusted with his sudden touch.
She shook her hand off as if she had been shocked by electricity, and subconsciously moved her body back.
“Don’t touch me!”
Her natural reaction made Sam especially hurt.
“Lacey, Melina and I…”
“I just want to meet her…”
She interrupted him and bit her lip hard.
A cold smile appeared on his pale face as he said helplessly, “I can’t touch her again… What are you afraid of?”
