Author’s POV
“Are you taking care of yourself?”
Grace asked her father.
“I miss you..”
“I miss you too…”
Stuart said holding her hand gently. They were walking in the garden Of rehabilitation centre.
“Don’t worry I am taking care of myself…”
Grace smiled.
“Is there any improvement… Is it difficult for you?”
She knows that leaving drugs is not easy but she is happy that he is trying for her.
“No! It’s not easy”
He chuckled.
“It’s getting hard day by day… Sometimes i can’t control myself but i haven’t take it since last three months… There is some improvement..”
“Dad… I love you… I know you are doing this for me.”
Her eyes watered.
“You are my life, Grace…”
He patted her head.
“I should have protect you but i destroyed your life… It’s all because of this addiction.”
He sighed defeated.
“I failed as a father… The least i can do is leave this addiction.”
“Don’t blame yourself…”
She looked at him sadly.
“Forget whatever happened… I am happy now.”
“Are you?”
He smiled bitterly.
“You can’t fool me.”
Grace shook her head.
“No dad! I am not lying… Dominick is good to me. He takes good care of me. He gives me whatever i want… And his family loves me so much specially his mother… Everything is good… You don’t have to worry about my safety…”
He was still not convinced.
“If you say so.”
He sighed.
“But sweetheart Mafia will always be heartless… He might force you to do some things. He will control your life… I have heard that wives are just a childbearers for them… They do all kind of nasty things like affairs, mistress n all… I am afraid that he might raise his hand on you.”
Grace chuckled.
“Dad you are paranoid…”
She said.
“Dom doesn’t hit me… And he don’t even look at other woman. He had beautiful Fiance than me but he chose me over her… And I didn’t tell you one thing…”
Stuart frowned.
“What?”
His face turned worried.
“I can’t become mother”
Grace Informed him and his face turned shocked.
“What? Why?”
He asked.
“Some medical issues… They said it will risk my life if we try testtube baby or something else”
She sighed.
“So Dominick dropped the idea… He doesn’t want to risk my life… In fact he told me that we can surrogate once it’s a right time… I was crying for it but he made me understand that this is not the right time. He wants to win my trust before having baby…. So no, i am not just a childbearer for him… He is really trying dad… I know that it’s difficult for him to change suddenly and act completely different than his nature… But at least he is trying. He loves me…”
Stuart turned his head and looked at the Dominick who is inside the car waiting for Grace.
“It sounds unbelievable…”
He sighed.
“But you are here, smiling and talking normally without stress then you must be safe there… You have gained good weight… I am happy for it.”
“Am i looking fat?”
She asked looking at herself.
“I said good weight… You were thin back then… You are looking healthy now.”
He chuckled.
“Because he is taking care of me.”
She assured him.
“I am so sorry about your medical condition… Is his family okay with this?… Aren’t they angry about it.”
He asked worriedly.
Grace shook her head.
“No! Actually they are completely fine with it… His father once talked to me, he is quite cold and strict but he assured me that i don’t have to worry about giving them heir… His mother also assured me that surrogacy is completely fine when we are ready… I am happy that they understand us…”
“Are you telling me the truth because it’s too good to believe…”
He asked suspiciously.
“Believe me… Wait I’ll show you our pictures from Alexander’s wedding.”
She unlocked her phone.
“We had so much fun…”
Stuart smiled when he saw the picture where Grace was dancing.
“Thank God!… I would have died in guilt.”
He said with sad smile.
“Don’t blame yourself, please.”
She squeezed his hand gently.
“Just get well soon…”
Grace finally gathered the courage to ask him.
“Dad… Do you know anything about my biological parents…”
He looked at her confused.
“Why do you want to know about it now?”
“I don’t know… I just want to know why they abandoned me.”
She shrugged.
“You are my only family now… Even if I found them, you will be my only parent…”
Stuart sighed looking at Dominick.
“No Grace! I don’t know anything about them…”
He said and crashed her hope.
“I was coming back home with your mother then we saw you on the footpath in small basket… It was cold and we waited for someone to come and take you but no one was there… We handed you to the police but they couldn’t find your parents either… We were childless couple so we decided to adopt you…”
“Was there anything with me… Letter or note?”
She asked.
“Nothing”
He replied.
“Okay”
She sighed.
“Sometimes we should leave the past in the past, Dear… You will only hurt yourself by digging in it… Those people doesn’t deserve your attention…”
He said and she nodded.
She looked at Dominick when he called her.
“I should leave now… I’ll come back next week… Take care.”
She kissed his cheek.
He hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.
“Take care of yourself… I love you.”
“Love you dad”
She said and bid him goodbye.
She walked towards the car sadly thinking she can’t get any clue of her parents.
Stuart sighed sadly.
“I am sorry My child but it’s better that you don’t know anything about those people… You will be safe without them.”
He knows everything but he decided to stay quiet.
Dominick kissed her cheek.
“How was it?”
He asked.
“There is some improvement…”
She replied.
“He is doing good… Hopefully soon he will be completely fine.”
“Good”
He gave her nod while starting the car.
“I asked him about it but he said he doesn’t know anything… I was alone on the footpath.”
She said sadly. Of course he won’t tell her because Dominick has already discussed the consequences with Stuart.
Dominick intertwined his hand with her and kissed her knuckles.
“You are no longer the child from the footpath… You are soon going to be a Mafia queen…”
“Mafia Queen?”
She asked shocked.
“You are becoming the king?”
He smiled at her reaction.
“Ofcourse… I am the heir”
“But What about Alexander?”
She asked confused.
“I mean he is already giving them heir and Why they chose you over him… Is Alex okay with it?”
Dominick chuckled.
“Bunny, Alex and I are twins… In Mafia world twins are considered as one person… That’s why we say Alex is my better half and i am his… We both are going to become Kings… First time in history there will be two Mafia kings.”
“Wow!”
She raised her eyebrows impressed.
“You two are one person means?”
She asked.
“Means we share everything… Whether it’s Throne, Bedroom, powers or wife”
He explained.
“Wife?”
She looked at him shocked.
“Yes wife… It’s very common for twin mafias to share a wife…”
He answered.
“Means you and Alex could have share one woman.”
She asked horrified.
“Yes… But we obviously have different choices so didn’t…”
He chuckled at her reaction.
“Thank God! Otherwise it would have been so difficult to handle both of you. That poor woman would have Gone crazy…”
She said.
“I guess it would have been Amanda.”
“Because of her i left my house. Don’t take her name.”
He rolled his eyes thinking about Amanda.
“Stupid woman.”
“Okay sorry… By the way… Have you ever shared a girl with Alex.”
She asked curiously.
He looked at her with smirk.
“You are showing too much interest in my past…”
She grinned.
“Don’t mind me… Just curious.”
“Find out”
He chuckled.
“Not fair, Dom”
She whined.
“Telling your wife about your past sex life is the dumbest thing and i am not dumb…”
He replied.
“Okay don’t tell me… I’ll find out.”
She challenged.
“Good luck with that.”
He smirked.
