Damien
I was making my way back to the packhouse when my senses alerted me to a presence. Someone did not belong here. My reflexes alerted me before anything else. A wolf jumped out from the bushes from behind me and I ripped out his throat before he could get a good bite. Two more jumped from the left side. I dodged them both and broke both of their necks. Another wolf came from behind me but before I could kill it, Jordan, in his wolf state, tore it in half. He shifted back to human form.
” We are under attack”, he panted. He was covered in blood on arrival, meaning he had his own share of fighting.
” How many?’ I linked to one of the guards.
” One hundred, alpha, and more keep coming. We are trying to slow them down, but some keep breaking through. They are demanding the Luna”, he said before the link was cut out.
“Fuck”, I said before rushing to the front line. If we could stop them from crossing, my brother and I could handle the rest.
“What”, Jordan asked.
“They are here for Ember”, I said, seething. With this new knowledge, Jordan and I became even more deadly. We tore through the wolves like they were paper, preventing more from crossing.
“Guard the homes”, we commanded the guards. They all abandoned their posts at once to form around the homes of the pack. Some of the wolves shifted back to humans.
” Where is the human?”, he demanded.
” What’s it to you?” I questioned. Jordan and I focused on our power, slowly letting our darkness build inside of us.
” My alpha seeks her. She belongs to him, and you are harboring her. She will return to us”, he smirked.
“Over our dead bodies”, Jordan growled.
“Don’t be stupid wolf. It is two hundred of us against two of you. You will be dying for the human over nothing”, he smirked. I looked at Jordan.
“What do you say, Jordan? 50/50 split? I questioned. He shifted into his hybrid state and a few of the men started backing away in fear. Our hybrid states are similar to Lycans, but our fangs are longer. Our wolves are black, and our eyes are blood red. Our fur has a black steam that envelops us, making us a wolf’s nightmare.
“It’s like you read my mind”, I said before shifting into my hybrid state. Together, we tore through almost every wolf, but we left one alive. He was cowering on his knees, begging for forgiveness about the time we finished tearing through his pack. We moved back, both Jordan and I covered in blood from the kills. I licked the blood from my hands while the man watched. Fears emanated from him as suspected.
I gripped his throat.
“What do you want with her?” I questioned. He seemed to be linking with his alpha. I used one of my powers of mind invasion and searched for his memories where I saw his alpha. I growled. Ryder.
” Ember has been in enemy territory for over a month”, I saw Ryder tell his members. ” Your Luna. My queen. Those fuckers in the southern territory have her hostage, posing as their luna as she lives in fear. Bring her back here, alive, or don’t come back at all” he commanded, and I saw them kneel to him. I saw him whisper to two men by his side and focused on them.
” She could be in Moonlight as well. Scope the place while they tear at the pack. Once they are alerted of the pack attack, snatch her if she is there”, he commanded, and they nodded. His eyes turned yellow, a color not common for any wolf. What the fuck was he? I came out of the wolf’s mind and shared what I had seen with Jordan. The wolf in front of us panted, wanting to be spared.
“Spare me, please. I will tell you everything you want. Please”, he pleaded.
” Sure, I will spare you”, I told him, setting him down before turning around and walking back to the mansion.
“I made no such promise”, Jordan said, and I was sure by the scream of the wolf he was sucking the wolf dry. Our bloodlust echoed through our twin line, and it was strong. I linked Seth.
” Is Ember, okay?” I asked. I hated that the mate bond was causing me to feel fear, and I was not sure whose fear I was feeling. I was feeling three lines of anger and one wave of pure fear along the line.
” Ember has been taken. Stay in the packhouse. Carter, Jax, and I are coming for her”. Seth linked Jordan and me. I sent him the vision of the men responsible.
“Is the pack safe?”, Carter’s voice came through.
” Secured. Bring her back to us”. Jordan linked him back. The line was then cut. Jordan headed to the tech room in the mansion, and I followed. We were going to trace her location through the cameras of the city system. Jordan worked on one side, and I the other. Since Moonlight was her last location, I traced her from there. I saw the same two men from the mind vision. One carried her on her back, and it looked like she was passed out. I growled. How dare he touch her?
“Jordan” I said, letting him see the footage, and he growled as well.
” I can take it from here, Damien. Go check on the pack members”, he said.
” I can stay and help, Jordan”, I said to him, following the car that took her on the camera. I was linking her coordinates to Seth. He stayed silent. I know he was linking Carter with the same coordinates. I zoomed ahead and paused a few traffic lights. Traffic was backed up in a matter of minutes. They suddenly got out of the car, picking Ember up and started running through the forest. I hacked into the satellite to view them and saw them running towards the Miami border.
” They are almost at the border. Hurry”, I linked Seth.
“FUCK”, I heard his reply and I saw him, Carter, and Jax running full speed, almost reaching her. Jordan and I watched as we saw Ember waking up, realizing her situation. The fear I felt turned into burning anger that almost choked Jordan and me. We watched as the man dropped her. She seemed to scream, and the man burned, then evaporated into thin air. She turned around as the other man tried to attack her and screamed at him as well, burning and evaporating him into thin air as well. All the trees around her had been knocked down by her powerful screams and suddenly she passed out, just in time for Seth to catch her before she hit the ground.
“What the hell?” Jordan said, shocked by what we had just seen. What the hell, indeed?
