Arriving at the hotel, Andreas found Frans waiting for him. When the car that brought him stopped right in front of the hotel courtyard, Frans immediately opened the door for him.
Andreas stepped down with firm steps. He buttoned his suit jacket and asked, “How is everything?”
“Ready, sir. All the major shareholders are here without exception.”
“Good,” Andreas said as he left. Frans followed him from behind. “And what about Alex?”
“According to your instructions, I met with Alex yesterday and everything has been collected.”
Andreas smiled thinly, a fleeting memory of the conversation between him and Alex a few days ago crossing his mind.
“I will hand over everything that has to do with Jonas, but I want one thing.”
“Tell me.”
“I want total protection.”
“Of course. As I said, I always protect my people.”
It seemed that everything was going according to plan. Andreas had successfully handled Alex, and now it was just a matter of convincing a few shareholders who were still confused about whether to side with the beloved son or the beloved grandson.
Andreas and Frans went straight to the meeting room. They walked in and all the conversations that were going on suddenly stopped. All eyes turned to them, and then Andreas smiled, not forgetting to say hello.
“Good morning, everyone.”
The meeting began with Noelle taking the lead. She got right to the point without beating around the bush. The shareholders exchanged glances and some of them seemed to take a deep breath.
“I’m sure Bryan won’t be happy about this.”
A comment with a tone of uncertainty was immediately countered by Ivor. His eyes seemed to glow as he pointed somewhere.
“It should be Bryan who cares about our feelings, not the other way around. Besides, this is for the common good. Don’t you see the chaos Jonas has caused? Oh, don’t tell me you agree with all that.”
Andreas fought hard not to laugh. As the largest non-family shareholder, Ivor was known for his impatience, especially when it came to money. He was enthusiastic about any well-thought-out strategy.
“Besides, why should we worry about Bryan’s feelings? We’re all here for business,” Ivor continued passionately, then turned his chair and looked at Noelle. “Our voices are unanimous. We demand the replacement of Progun’s director this month. So, after this meeting, I will meet with Bryan. Let me speak to him directly.”
Noelle smiled. “Of course. If you’re willing to do that, I and the others will be very grateful.”
The meeting ended, and Ivor put his words into action. He immediately left for the office of the Sanders Group, not forgetting to inform Bryan. On his way, he contacted Bryan by phone.
“What did you say? You want to meet me? What business do you have that you want to meet me so suddenly?”
Ivor took a deep breath. He leaned back in the passenger seat and adjusted the position of his slightly tight pants. “You’ll find out later. I’m on my way to the Sanders Group.”
While Ivor and the other shareholders had scattered, Andreas and Noelle had not. They took the time to sit together and enjoy their lunch. They discussed several topics before Andreas noticed Frans’ unusual behavior.
Andreas caught Frans in the act of repeatedly looking in his direction. His demeanor indicated that he had something to say, so Andreas patiently waited until he and Noelle had finished their time together.
When lunch was over, Andreas said, “I’ll stay a little longer, Nana. There’s something I need to talk to Frans about.”
Noelle nodded and left with her personal assistant. She passed Frans and returned the friendly smile she received.
“What do you want to say?”
Andreas asked immediately when Frans approached him and sat down in front of him. Frans replied with a short nod and handed him a colored envelope.
Andreas took the envelope and looked at it for a moment before asking with a frown, “What is this?”
“Please open it yourself, sir.”
It was not the answer Andreas wanted, but curiosity made him follow Frans’ suggestion. He opened the envelope and took out the documents, and his eyes immediately widened when he saw the first photo of Vlora.
Andreas instinctively slammed the envelope down on the table. His eyes became sharp and he snapped, “What do you mean, Frans? Are you spying on my wife?”
Frans swallowed and realized that Andreas’ reaction to Vlora was anything but normal. His reflex had proved everything.
“Not with bad intentions, sir. I just wanted to make sure that Mrs. Vlora wasn’t a hidden enemy. I did it for your own good.”
Andreas’ face hardened and for a moment he closed his mouth tightly. “Vlora will never be a secret enemy. She won’t betray me, Frans. She’s my wife and deserves my trust.”
Andreas knew that logic always seemed to falter when it came to Vlora. He acknowledged that, and on some level, he understood why Frans did what he did. Unfortunately, he couldn’t accept it. His heart rebelled when he found out that Frans was spying on Vlora. Frans had gone too far. It was tantamount to humiliating Vlora. Andreas was furious and-
“I know that, sir. I’m also confident that Mrs. Vlora will never betray you.”
Andreas’ emotions and anger were stopped for a moment. Now, confusion made him stare at Frans intently. “What do you mean?”
Frans did not answer, just stared at the brown envelope. Andreas reached for the object again, feeling the tension slowly spread through his body.
Andreas’ instincts awakened. It was as if they were giving him a warning to prepare himself. For one or two incomprehensible things, Andreas was afraid.
For a moment, Andreas stared at the brown envelope. Pathetically, he wanted to know the information inside without actually opening it.
His hand reached out. He took a deep breath. Andreas gathered his strength as he finally took the brown envelope and removed the documents.
The first document contained Vlora’s biodata. Her beautiful photo was accompanied by a series of explanations about her life, including the information that both of her parents had died at the same time. The reason was just as Vlora had told him before: suicide.
“Do you remember the first project Mr. Jonas worked on ten years ago?” Frans asked, remembering something, and then correcting himself. “I mean eleven years ago.”
Andreas really disliked his conversation with Frans now, but his mind continued to work. He tried to remember.
Eleven years ago?
Maybe Jonas was twenty-four or twenty-five years old then. A relatively young age, but Andreas would never forget how much Bryan trusted Jonas back then.
Bryan had a great time introducing Jonas to all the business associates. He also began to guide Jonas to enter the business world and take care of various matters in the Sandres Group.
“MysticLoom Textiles.”
