Moreover, if anything happened to their beloved youngest son, his parents would blame him.
So, he had to protect Joshua.
If it were just Phoenix Entertainment, Connor wouldn’t worry. They were big but not big enough to ban Golden Gate Films alone.
But facing the entire Phoenix Alliance Group? That was trouble.
Connor hadn’t met Phoenix Alliance Group’s CEO, but he knew a lot about him.
The CEO was from the Evans family, one of the four powerful clans. He was mysterious, rarely seen in public, but known for being ruthless and decisive. He even outmaneuvered his uncles to become his grandfather’s favorite.
Under his leadership, Phoenix Alliance Group dominated over half of Edenfield City’s business world. They were so powerful that nobody dared to go against them.
But what puzzled Connor was this: why would the CEO of such a huge corporation defend a nobody agent?
Connor looked at Bianca carefully and asked, “Are you the agent from Phoenix Entertainment?”
Bianca nodded politely.
“Ma’am, I’m really sorry for what happened to you. It’s our fault at Golden Gate Films for not keeping our people in line. I’ll personally hand Darien over to the police and cancel all our projects with him. We’ll also make an official statement about this. To show you how serious we are, we’ll give priority to your artists in all our projects from now on, as long as they fit the roles.” Connor apologized sincerely, showing respect to Bianca.
Bianca felt touched. “Thank you, Mr. Reed. If you’re willing to give our artists a fair shot, I’ll appreciate it greatly!”
Connor nodded. Then, he looked at the tall man next to Bianca and asked, “May I ask who this gentleman is?”
“Oh, he’s a friend of mine.”
Despite his powerful presence, this man didn’t dress like someone from a prominent background.
“I see,” Connor said, not giving Dave any more attention, then turned to leave.
As he was about to go, Connor glanced at Ashley. She wasn’t as beautiful or sensible as Bianca. Connor frowned, shaking his head in disbelief. How could his brother have such poor taste?
Once he returned to his office, Connor called Zane to give him an update. “Let Mr. Evans know I already handled everything. Darien admitted to his wrongdoing, and my brother wasn’t involved. I hope Mr. Evans won’t blame Joshua unfairly. I’ll make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
“Got it, I’ll inform Mr. Evans.”
Meanwhile, in the rehearsal hall at Golden Gate Films, Bianca was still stunned. She didn’t expect the matter to be resolved so quickly.
Confused, she looked at Dave and asked, “How did Mr. Reed find out about what happened?”
“He’s the chairman of Golden Gate Films, so I guess he has his ways,” Dave said casually.
Bianca found his explanation comforting and sighed in relief. “Crisis averted! I was really scared you’d end up in jail!”
“Concerned about me?” Dave whispered in Bianca’s ear, a playful smile on his face.
Blushing, Bianca covered her ear and pouted, “Well, I did drag you into this mess. If you got in trouble, it would’ve been all my fault, and I couldn’t forgive myself!”
“Don’t worry about me. I can take care of us both,” Dave assured her with a smile.
Bianca gazed at Dave’s strong profile. Despite not being wealthy or influential, she always felt safe with him.
“Mr. Evans, thank you for your help today. Let me treat you to dinner tonight!”
“Sure, sounds good.”
The two left the rehearsal hall happily chatting. Ashley watched them go, her fists clenched in anger.
Her suspicions were confirmed. Bianca had connected with a powerful man.
Ashley remembered the first time she met him; he drove a million-dollar luxury car. And today, he was with Bianca when she confronted Darien.
Connor was busy, yet he personally handled this matter. It had to be because of that man. Maybe Connor got rid of Darien for him.
Ashley shuddered at the thought. She needed to learn the man’s true identity before confronting Bianca, or she might face trouble.
Meanwhile, in his office, Connor quietly pondered the situation. The more he thought, the more puzzled he became.
Finally, he instructed his men to investigate why the CEO of Phoenix Alliance Group supported a nobody executive agent. He needed to understand Bianca’s connection to this influential figure.

After dinner with Bianca, Dave returned to the office, stating he had to work late.
Actually, he did have a meeting that night, so it wasn’t a lie.
Before the meeting, Zane had news for Dave.
“Boss, just like you thought, Connor’s looking into this and your connection with Miss Scott. But don’t stress. I’ve spread the story you wanted out.”
“Great,” Dave said quietly, focused on his paperwork.
That night, Connor got an update from his team.
Their investigation revealed that problems that arose in Phoenix Entertainment had caught the CEO’s eye, leading him to keep an eye on Golden Gate Films.
When he learned about the trap set for Bianca, the CEO thought Golden Gate Films was up to no good. Believing Golden Gate Films was using dirty tactics against Phoenix Entertainment, he decided to step in and warn them.
Connor felt relieved when he learned what had happened. His company had been getting close to Orion Entertainment, Phoenix Entertainment’s biggest rival. It made sense that a misunderstanding reached the CEO’s ears. Now, Connor realized he needed to keep a good relationship with Phoenix Entertainment to avoid trouble.
At first, he thought Bianca might have powerful connections, but it turned out he worried for nothing.

At 10 PM, Bianca settled on the couch to watch TV. Dave said he had to work late and might not come home tonight.
As she enjoyed a show, the lights suddenly went out, plunging Bianca into darkness in an instant.
Bianca felt a shiver run down her spine. Was there a blackout?
Peering out the window, she saw that the whole neighborhood was dark. It was so dark outside that she could barely see anything.
Anxious, Bianca swallowed nervously.
Bianca’s greatest fear was the dark. The night her mother left, her father had rushed out on an urgent errand, leaving her alone at home.
But soon after he left, the power went out, leaving Bianca in total darkness.
She didn’t know how she had made it through that night.
All Bianca could recall from that time was the overwhelming despair and helplessness she felt. It was as if the whole world had abandoned her.
She had curled up and cried so much that she began to imagine things.
It felt like dark shadows were all around her, waiting to swallow her up.
Since then, she had been terrified of the dark, so she always slept with a night light on.
