Alexander’s POV
“Alphas, welcome to today’s lesson.” Emily’s voice traveled over the training area, and everyone’s gazes turned to her.
Wolf whistling erupted as she slowly emerged onto the small platform, spiking jealousy, possessiveness and anger in me.
I balled my fist and hissed under my breath. I couldn’t believe she would do this to me-how dare she dress so revealingly! Doesn’t she know I will tear everyone apart looking at her.
My gaze traveled over her beautiful, curved body, drinking her in. She looked sexy! Way too sexy to walk around between hundreds of hungry and unmated wolves!
Emily had tied her long brown hair into a high ponytail and was wearing a white, low-cut V-neck shirt, exposing her perky round breast. Her firm round bottle butt and curves were flaunted by her black leather tights, which seemed to fit like a second skin. To complete the look, she wore black four-inch combat boots, ending about five inches from her knees.
Ghost was going crazy in my mind. He loved the look but hated the attention she was getting.
I have to admit, Emily went out of her way to make a statement, and she was getting attention.
I growled and stormed forward, silencing the surrounding wolves. No one had the right to look at my mate, but me!
Emily’s gaze snapped towards me, and she lifted a warning eyebrow. She didn’t look at all surprised about my reaction; on the contrary, she looked somewhat pleased.
That took me aback, and a small smile followed at the corners of her red-painted lips.
Was she doing this on purpose?
Was she out to taunt me?
“Don’t you dare!” She linked, her eyes turning ice-cold. “Keep your cool!”
I froze, confused.
What the hell was she up to?
Emily turned her attention back to the group.
“The training we are going to do this session is all about focus!” She said, turning to look back at me. “Don’t ever lose focus on your opponent!”
“It’s hard to focus when you look like that!” I commented via link, while violently gesturing with my hands at her in silence.
Emily bit her lip and turned her gaze, trying not to laugh out loud.
“You better keep your temper in check,” my father linked me, giving me a warning glare. “You are making a fool out of yourself!”
It was only at that moment that I realized the wolves surrounding me were now focusing on me. While some of them merely stared at me in confusion, the majority of them were curiously moving their heads between Emily and me.
“Sorry,” I muttered, embarrassed. “Please proceed!”
Emily rolled her eyes and shifted her attention back to the group.
“Now.” Emily’s voice hitched with excitement. “Every one of you had drawn a ball earlier with a number on it. Find your opponent.”
It didn’t take me long to spot my opponent; it was Barrett, the Alpha from the Blood Claw Pack, from the South.
He was a huge wolf, standing at 7’1, covered in tattoos. He didn’t say much, but his aura was yelling danger.
“We can take him,” Ghost yapped from the back of my mind. “In my eyes, he is just a tiny bug!”
“Tiny bug?” I chuckled, amused, under my breath. “Did you see that wolf’s arms? They are bigger than my f*cking thighs!”
“You talk too much!” Ghost said. “Stop moaning; get your act together and concentrate. We are up next!”
My gaze traveled to where Emily stood, observing the fight between a Beta from the Dark Moon Pack and an Alpha from the Star Cross Pack. The two opponents were sizing up one another, moving in a circle.
“You have 60 seconds left to put down your opponent,” Emily said.
Her statement seemed to be a warning of sorts, and I was curious about what would happen if they did not fight.
“Fifty seconds,” she said, looking bored at the two.
“Forty….” Emily’s gaze turned toward the royal warriors. “They need some motivation, don’t you think?”
The warriors nodded and disappeared toward the building, and moments later they brought the two opponents’ mates back-both tied up and blindfolded.
Gasps erupted at the sight of it.
“What the hell?” Luke muttered next to me. “What is Luna thinking? The Alpha is going to lose his sh*t on her!”
The audience fell silent, holding their breath.
The Alpha was the first one to notice his mate in a vulnerable state and released a fierce roar. His eyes were shifting black, and he stormed toward the stage.
Emily crossed her arms around her chest, seemingly pleased that she was getting some action.
She quickly climbed down a few steps off the stage and stepped into the ring.
Another gasp filled the air at Emily’s bold and daring move.
The Alpha shifted halfway through his run, yet Emily kept her ground. She looked kind of amused.
Emily moved her gaze toward me; she winked with a smile twitching at the corners of her lips.
Was she doing this to get a reaction out of me?
The Alpha quickly closed the gap between them; in seconds, he would be on top of her.
Everything seemed to slow, my heartbeat pounding in my ears.
“He is going to hurt, mate!” Ghost roared from the back of my mind, trying to grab control. “Safe mate!”
I wasn’t sure what to do, but I sure as hell wouldn’t let another Alpha touch her.
Things escalated quickly, and before I knew it, I was shifted, pouncing in the direction of Emily and bringing the Alpha down just in time.
I roared as anger pumped through my veins and released my aura, making the surrounding wolves shiver.
“Enough!” Emily’s ordered, a second too soon to my will. “Shift! The both of you!”
I retreated with difficulty-I wasn’t done protecting what was mine!
“Now!” Emily roared with so much authority that Ghost whimpered inside my mind.
“Mate looks….” Ghost muttered like a scared puppy and quickly retreated to the depths of my mind.
Was he scared?
My gaze caught Emily’s, and my blood ran cold in my veins.
Crap, was I in trouble?
