Book:Fated To The Ruthless Alpha King Published:2024-6-8

There’s been a lot that’s happening, a lot going on, even up till now.
Miranda and Damian had returned to the silver packhouse, and Damian had his work cut out for him for the days he’d been absent from seat. The past two days has been choked up for him in court; he’s had a lot on his mind, but then no amount of workload or stress could make him forget about the ones he loved, the ones he cared about, and the ones he’d failed to check up on for long.
“You sent for me, sire?” Renard asked as he entered the office in the alpha’s chambers, disturbing Damian’s thoughts.
“Yes, Renard. Please, sit.” Damian said as he gestured to the chair in front of him. Renard obeyed before Damian continued what he had to say.
“First, I want to thank you for the wonderful work you did in the ruling affairs while I was away. Hope the silver circle wasn’t too much to handle?”
“No. Of course not sire. I know that they can be difficult especially when you’re away, but I’ve established a good relationship with every single one of them, and they seem to accept me as much as a leader as they do with you.”
Damian nodded, “that’s good. I’m glad to hear that. But then, apart from thanking you for taking the wheel in my absence, there’s another reason I called you here.”
“What is it, sire?”
“You know that a lot has happened these past few weeks, from Miranda’s kidnap down to her father’s death, even the events before that…. My mate and I have hardly had time because we’ve been engaged a lot…”
Renard nodded, “I understand that perfectly sire.”
“But then, no matter how busy I am… I’ll never forget nor neglect the ones I am sworn to protect with my life. I gave you an assignment a few months ago, Renard…. Before the time I left to rescue Miranda from her abductors.”
There’s been a lot of assignments… a ton of them, that Renard was trying hard, squinting his eyes to remember which one… before Damian answered his thoughts by continuing.
“I asked you to help me look after Katrina. I intentionally did not go to her, nor see her for long because I knew she needed time to heal, I knew she needed time away from me, but that never changed the way I cared about her, and it still hasn’t.”
“I know sire. I know that you do care for Katrina so much, even though she was badly hurt by you.”
“So, how is she now? I wanted to call you here to ask about her before I go and see her for myself. It’s been long since I saw her, but I want to know how she is before I take any further steps.”
Renard saw so much concern written on Damian’s face… he might be surprised to find out that Katrina was doing perfectly fine now, having moved on from the rejection. He might be surprised that the Katrina he left saddened and hurt is now one of the happiest persons in the world.
He answered, “I don’t think you should be too bothered as to how Katrina is doing sire. You can go and see her anytime you like. I’ve done as you asked by taking care of her. Katrina is doing much better than how she was before.”
That reply brought so much relief to Damian’s heart. He must have expected for Renard to say otherwise, or to say just how much of a miserable state Katrina was in, but then it was far from that. Katrina is in a happy relationship, where she is learning to love for the first time. She’s chosen to move on from the hurt and pain brought by the past and focus on getting a better, more fulfilling life.
“Thank you for taking care of her, Renard. I must admit that this is one of the best things you’ve ever done for me.”
“It’s my pleasure, sire. Katrina is a special soul, and deserves to be given nothing but the best.”
“I would love to see her right away, but I want Miranda to be there.”
“Why, if I may ask sire?”
Sighs, “I know that Katrina isn’t on good terms with her, but I’m not taking Miranda to her because I want any trouble… the both of them are the two most important women in my life and there’s nothing I could have wished more than for them to get along.”
“I understand sire… Katrina can be a bit difficult when it comes to accepting change, but I guarantee you that she no longer has the need to feel any grudge for what happened before.”
“Why do you say that? Is there something that happened with her that I’m unaware of?”
“A lot of things had happened with her, with him too, but then Renard wasn’t ready to break the news yet to alpha Damian, for it was still too soon.”
“Nothing sire, I just think that Katrina is ready to move on from the hurt she felt previously.”
“I hope this will be true when I meet her. She does have a fine way of pretending like she’s happy when she’s not.”
“Believe me when I say that the manner in which she’ll behave is of no pretense.”
“Thank you, Renard, but I still want to be certain. I will speak with my mate and then we’ll arrange to meet with her afterwards.”
“Ok sire. Anything you say.”

He’s seen me just now, what could he possibly be calling me for again? Miranda wondered as she strolled into the silver court. Damian was waiting there for her; he was holding an opened message in his hand. His expression far from friendly.
Upon seeing what he held, Miranda knew immediately what this call was for. He was holding the same familiar letter she’d received some days ago.
“Why didn’t you tell me about it?” Damian asked her. “The committee is organizing a big gathering in memory of your father and you didn’t even bother to so much as hint to me about it.”
