Uh-oh! Caught red-handed, Brendon must be furious.
Ranita felt dizzy, blurted out while holding Eve’s hand, “It was me who accidentally threw it, nothing to do with Eve.”
Eve widened her eyes, “What are you…”
Ranita quickly covered her mouth, turned to Brendon with a serious tone, “Sorry, it was my fault.”
Shannon, covered in potato chips, teared up and said, “Ranita, I’m fine, as long as you calm down.”
“But, Ranita, you should be more careful in the future, it’s not good to accidentally hit someone.”
This is just sickening.
Ranita felt guilty, the words stuck in her chest, making her uncomfortable and painful.
“Shannon, how can you say such disgusting things? It wasn’t Ranita who hit you, it was…” Eve was about to confess directly, but Ranita stopped her.
“Eve!”
Eve is a public figure. If this incident gets blown out of proportion, it could be difficult to contain. As for Ranita herself, since she and Shannon are enemies, getting angry and throwing chips could be justified.
Eve knows Ranita means well.
But she still can’t swallow her pride.
“Ranita… you…”
Ranita covered her mouth, gritting her teeth, “Don’t say anything!”
“Miss Murphy, I won’t say much more. It was my fault just now. Whatever compensation you need, just say it.”
Shannon looked at Ranita, her voice soft and fragile.
“Ranita, I know you didn’t do it on purpose, I won’t hold it against you.”
How is this not holding it against her! Not only does she hold it against her, but she also feels wronged and innocent!
Eve rolled her eyes inwardly and whispered to Ranita, “I can’t take it anymore.”
Ranita sighed inwardly, patting Eve’s hand.
Fortunately, there was a fence between them, otherwise Ranita would be afraid that Eve would directly rush out to fight.
“Ranita, I’ll go back and tidy up first. Oh, my place is just ahead, come over for tea sometime.”
“Brendon, can you take me back now?”
Ranita glanced at Brendon and found him looking at her. His deep eyes were inscrutable, showing no emotion.
Ranita looked away, her voice steady, “You’re welcome.”
Ranita thought this incident was over, but Brendon didn’t move. Instead, he stared at Ranita and said, “Since you accidentally spilled chips on someone’s head, shouldn’t you help clean it up?”
Ranita: ?
What does he mean?
“You and I will take Shannon back together and help her clean up the chips on her head.”
Shannon was the first to disagree, “Brendon, don’t trouble Ranita. We can clean it up ourselves when we get back.”
Ranita pursed her lips and remained silent.
Brendon insisted, “Whoever does it should take responsibility, isn’t it fair?”
“Do you agree?” The last sentence was directed straight at Ranita, with a firm attitude that brooked no refusal.
Eve was so angry that smoke seemed to come out of her ears. “Let Ranita go to Shannon’s house to help? Brendon, you really come up with ideas!”
Ranita pulled Eve and was glared at again.
“You’re spoiling him!” Eve was so angry that she stomped her foot and ran off. She was going back to get a broom and would start cleaning directly!
Ranita looked at Brendon and asked, “Are you serious?”
