Benedict never thought it was Ranita from the start.
Although Ranita wasn’t the Bowman family’s biological child, she grew up in the Bowman family since childhood. Benedict and Alexia both treated her as their own child, teaching her well. Ranita had a good personality, was well-mannered, and excelled in her studies from a young age. Moreover, Ranita had upright principles.
“But why does this person have the same name as Ranita? What if it implicates our Ranita?” Benedict continued flipping through the documents on the table, accidentally touching the scattered papers that Alexia wanted to put away but was held back by Benedict.
“What are these? Let me see!” Benedict said as he flipped through them. Alexia wanted to stop him, but it was too late. “Benedict, you…”
“Is this… true?” Benedict couldn’t believe it. How could his own child do such a thing! How could Benedict’s child do something to disgrace the family?
“Ranita, she actually…” Benedict was so angry he couldn’t speak. He covered his chest, breathing heavily. “How could she…”
“Benedict, you haven’t even asked Ranita about this matter personally, how can you jump to conclusions so quickly?” Alexia felt uncomfortable. “Ranita is our daughter, we should believe her!”
“Yes! Ranita is our child, she couldn’t possibly do these things!” Benedict was too shocked just now, but now he realized even a convicted criminal could defend themselves; they hadn’t heard Ranita’s explanation yet, so they couldn’t immediately draw conclusions.
Benedict, having experienced storms before, calmed down, and his mind became clear: “Who gave you these documents?”
“It’s…” Alexia hesitated for a moment, then said irritably, “Lena.”
“It’s Lena who gave them to me. She suddenly came to our house today, sent me these documents, and asked me to advise Ranita properly to give up that man.”
“I heard her daughter suffered from depression because of this fiance. She has been hospitalized several times.” Alexia was furious. “How could she be so malicious? She used to bully me before, and now she’s still bullying me when she’s old.”
Benedict was a little stunned. “Lena? Is she the one you said used to bully you in high school?”
“Yes, it’s her!” Although Alexia was older now, she was well-protected and carried herself with a delicate princess-like demeanor.
She complained, “As soon as she came in, she pretended to be kind, and then she asked me to empathize with her.”
“Who knows if it’s her daughter bullying our child.” Benedict pondered for a moment, then called Jedidiah to come home.
Jedidiah didn’t know at first, but when he returned home, he was bombarded with questions: “Jedidiah, how much do you know about Ranita’s situation?”
Jedidiah’s heart sank, and it took him a while to carefully ask, “Mom, Dad, what do you want to know?”
“Didn’t you say we wouldn’t mention Ranita’s past?” Benedict threw the documents over. “I didn’t want to bring it up, but someone had to come knocking on our door! Look at this!”
Jedidiah quickly read through them, his face extremely ugly. He explained, “Mom, Dad, please don’t misunderstand. Things aren’t what you think.”
“Then tell us, what really happened?” Benedict raised his voice slightly, hitting Jedidiah where it hurt, making his face turn red with discomfort.
Jedidiah was extremely worried. “Dad, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, just tell me.”
Jedidiah had to briefly explain what he knew, angering Benedict so much that he slammed the table right then and there.
“This is outrageous! How dare they bully my daughter!”
